Hello everyone, Welcome back to a brand new episode of the Poker Go Podcast. My name is Donny Peters. The man across some table from me is Tim Duckworth. How are you doing, sir, good evening. Stop chewing that gum like a good lord. You can hear that. Yes, it's so loud. Really, I don't know if you're showing me. No, it's so loud. Rich is gonna yell at you? Donate to spit it out? Yeah? And why are you even chewing gum? Did you have
a mishap earlier with the gum? Tell people what happened. Well, you've now lost the crown on your tooth twice this summer. The first time was from like a sour patch thing. It just pulled my crown off. I went in, they reglued it. They're gonna make me a new one. It's gonna take a couple of weeks. Today I had dinner, put some gum in. Somebody felt funny, reached into my mouth and lift at the crown up. So now that the same crown is sitting on my desk,
take it to the dentists on Monday. The reason I've gone right now is I just wanted some minty stuff to wake me up in preparation for this very podcast. Okay, how don I spit it out just for you? I mean what do I put this? Kind of like whatever, figure it out. You should spit it out. There's like some paper behind you. Continue. Um, it's Saturday, July first. It's about to hit midnight. As Tim is just ruffling crumpling paper. I mean, this guy is,
I mean Rich producer, Rich is going to absolutely murder you. I want episode tomorrow. He's gonna earn he's he's he's dollary dry. Kind of Um, it's about to hit midnight. There are some events still going on. We had one that one event wrap up today. Let we had two two events wrapped up today. Two events were out that there was a lot going on today, but two of its wrapped up found winners. There's a bunch of other stuff that's going on. It's day one via the Colossus. On
today's show, Wyron Pooh wins the five k Noeleman hold Him six. Max David Guay won the six hundred dollars deep stack. You have three players remaining in the ten thousand dollars duced to seven single draw. That could change while we're recording. They're about thirty feet to our left, so we'll keep you updated on that one. Sina Okamoto leads the one K Ladies Championship final table.
You had the fifty k PLO bagging it up heading to day three, eleven players remaining, Tim Wrights. Too many people to count in the Colossus. I keep spelling colossus wrong, not a yeah, you put an ore, do you? Honestly, I don't know. I thought this was like some Australians, just the Queen's English. So the Bravo said eight thousand, one ninety one. The board currently says eight thousand, one hundred eighty eight. If you look on Cowboys, it's definitely different. Yeah, but it
was. It's only off by three, but I think earlier I heard them say they have thirty They had thirty voids or twenty something or whatever. Anyway, we'll get into that in a little bit. Absolutely massive field in the classes, that's what you need to tell. There is more than eight hundred thousand dollars up top in the ten K Super Turbo Bounty. Speaking of massive, this field was ridiculous. You got the big bet mix kicking off.

First up, five thousand dollars, no limit, hold them six max, eleven and ninety nine entries. Is we've talked about over the recent episodes China's Whir and Who Wins It All? Nine hundred and
thirty eight thousand dollars. It's the fifth gold bracelet one by a Chinese player at the twenty twenty three World Series of Poker, which seems unbelievable. It's very impressive, seems wile he beat Norbert Skessi in heads up play Hungarian player who is a beast who has three WSFP goal bracelets. Tyler Cornell finished in third place. I think Angelina Rich took fourth. I believe fun final table, lots of big hands, all this big action that was live streamed on
Poker Go. So if you missed it, you can go check it out. I would encourage you to do so. There were two Brazilians at the final table, a lot of fun. I don't think. I don't think Angelina Rich got fourth. I think you got fifth. By the way, um anyway, um, Brazilian rails were fun. A lot of noisemakers, had a big ass drum, looked great, had a dog all of it. Let me this had it was an absolute party. M I stand by
it. The Americans have the worst rails in history. They remain dead last in rails as far as I'm concerned, debt like dead last, pick a rail. It's worse than the the Americans. Yugoslavia, I don't even think they've had a rail. Does Luke Yugoslavia have a bracelet? Probably not, since the Dundee really technically exists as a country and of it, I mean it exists as a country. That's what I'm saying. Yeah. Anyway,
Um, moving on, six hundred dollar Deep Stack Championship. Four thousand, three hundred and three entries in that one, David Guay wins it all two hundred and seventy thousand, almost two hundred and seventy one thousand. He's been close many times before. Most notably he had a second place finished in the one k double stack no limit hold him in twenty twenty one. He also
had a second place finished in twenty seventeen in the tag team event. So close to bracelets, but no cigar until today, when he takes down the six hundred dollars Deep Stacks Championship for almost two hundred seventy one k. He also had finishes deep in the Doublest Pamain event. In twenty seventeen he came twenty second. In two thousan nineteen he came sixty seconds, and then in two thou nineteen also in that that one k double stack no limit hold him
that he finished second in twenty twenty one. Well in twenty nineteen he got seven. So David Quay Crusher pretty much heems very good, very good. French does seem very very good. The ten thousand dollars no limit deuced to seven single draw championship. There are three players remaining. They just took a break more than three hundred and sixty seven thousand dollars for first place. Chris
Brewer, Alex Livingston and Dave Odb Baker are the three players remaining. Believe it's Odb with the chip lead, but chips have been swinging back and forth. Not sure how big the chip lead is. I know Brewer did have the chip lead for quite a bit of time. Alex Livingston also was pretty healthy as well, so I'm assuming all three of those guys over there are pretty close. Even if Baker is in the lead. Um, they're gonna, I mean, they're gonna try to play to a winner tonight, but
I don't know if they're gonna get there. It's already past midnight. I think they might have like one more level. The levels are ninety minutes, so a lot could happened, but they have been pretty deep the whole time, So we'll see. If Chris Brewer does find a victory in this event, he would move into second in the Player of the Year race, which
is pretty cool, you know. Chris Brewer, of course, spent a lot of time in poker, was like the bubble Boy, and every big event you know, ran bad and in a bunch of huge spots, then took some time like away from Broker. He still played, but less so than he did before because he got a real job. And now this year he's just back and he's absolutely annihilating everything. So it's good to see Chris Brewer find a whole bunch of heats, including this event. Of course,
he won what the fifth super high. I was gonna say twenty five K, and then I knew that didn't sound correct, and then I was about to say fifty K, and I also thought that didn't sound correct either. Um so anyway, Um, Daniel Lagron got fourth, fifth, fifth, Daniel Lenarny got fifth. Close, but no cigar for kid poker. He remains in search of his seventh BSP goal Ray So since forever ago? Yeah, twenty thirteen in Europe and correct, Asia Pacific? Was that what it
was? I thought it was both that year because he won the Asia Pacific and Mighty April whatever it was, and then he won the twenty five k like hi Rolla to close out Europe, to close out Europe and winn play over the year. But that that was all in twenty thirty yes, correct, yes, sorry, and then Vegas brace So it's two thousand and seven, I think it was. So he's getting close. You know. He
had a deep run in the ten case stet eight the other day. He had a deep run earlier in the series in the I believe it was a fifty plo. He had a deep run here in this ten K nolam aduce to seven. So there's still a ton of poker left. That event was UM sixty nine. There are ninety five live Gold Bracelet events okay, and of course Daniels firing all the online stuff too, but just focusing on the
live stuff for a second. There are ninety five of them. That ten thousand dollars nolam At Duces seven Lowball is vent number sixty nine, so you know, he still has what twenty events left to play? Yeah, you know, I know that math doesn't exactly work with a bunch of events I kicked off. You know, hopefully it's just one of and he's already jumped into the tent, you know, so he probably took a half hour off, went back to his room, did that whole thing, and then fired
it in there. So we'll see how he goes in that one. Um. But yeah, I mean it's good to see Daniel getting results and he seems to be, you know, kinder knocking on the door of getting that bracet. We'll see if he's able to break through before this summer wraps up or if he's gonna have to wait another year. The one thousand dollars Ladies Championship seven players remain from a field of twelve hundred and ninety five entries,
more than one hundred ninety two thousand dollars for first place. Good bump over last year's hundred one thousand, sorry, not one hundred one thousand, seventy four entries was what they had last year, So they're up more than two hundred this year, which is very good. You have Japan's Sina Okamoto leading the way, Tera Kane married Devorcan, Tamar Abraham, Susan, Suzanne Malavet, Chrissy finiotis probably butchered that one for sure, and nam Win are of
the seven women remaining. They're gonna make it easy on you, did they? They definitely did not. But I also didn't make it easy on myself because I did no preparation and did him reading this for the first time, So that's on me, my fault, ladies, I do apologize. Um, they're all guaranteed more than twenty six thousand dollars, which is great. Of course, they're going to play for that gold bracelet and more than one
hundred and ninety two thousand dollars. The final table of this event is going to take place on Sunday, July second, and is going to be live streamed on the poker Goo YouTube channel. Remco Rinkima is going to handle the lead commentary. Duties calling the action and then we'll have is it the ace holes? Is that what they call them? Caitlin Kemeski and Nikki Limo on
the call, they're going to be joining. I had I have him replaced, but understandably so I get it. You know, we should also mentioned Natalie bod He's gonna be on sidelines I think, doing elimination and the winners interviews. Well, there you go. We're all in on this Ladies Championship, are we are? I like it. Um the fifty thousand dollars pot limit Omaha high Roller eleven players remain. Two hundred entries, two hundred crazy. I had the over one sixty one crushed it. They had like thirty
like max late up entries. The King John Reardon was the last player to get in. Then SnO ride in there. More than two point three million dollars for first place in this one. It's just it's absolutely wild to turn out in this thing. Tyler Smith is leading the way. He is a pretty big lead big overall. Jesse Lonis is still in. Adam Hendricks, Janis Kronwitter, Isaac Hackson, and Player of the Year front runner Ian Matacus is in there. He's in. He's what like nine or ten out of
eleven. He is actually eleventh's eleven eleven, So I'll have some work to do, but it's good to see Ian breaking out onto the scene. He's adding um guaranteed one hundred and fifty seven k adding two hundred and sixty five per Whyte points, and Sean Deep today added zero after busting two events on the bubble. I know, brutal right, UM, I mean, I'm just going to call it right now. Im A Takeas is going to be the breakout player of the year. That's just how this works. He's crushing
it. Um. I'm not sure if anyone will go on to have a better year, but it seems like im A Takeus is, you know, making a name for himself quite a big way. So I'm guessing that he's going to be winning that one. Uh. Plan is to play to a winner tomorrow in this event. So um, we'll recap that one when it wraps up. Four hundred dollars Colossus, another absolutely ridiculously large field in this one. The line today was out of control. Out of control. I've
never seen a line that long at the World's Poker in my life. That was so long. Even like the old days when it used to the old days, I mean a couple of years ago, everyone used to like go down the hallway, like down all the hallways at the Rio, like all over the place. This seemed way longer. I mean, it never ended. It felt like it never ended. It was out of control how big
it was. They ended up getting up to what looks like eight thousand, one hundred and eighty eight entries on day one B Not sure if that number is confirmed in full, but you know it's pretty close. Um, they're playing down to well, I think they're in the last level, but I also think they're going to try and get into the money. They're on the bubble right now, remaining I think they play they pay twelve twenty nine or somethingthing like that. So, um, so everyone's gonna get into the money.
Um So, what fifteen thousand, eight hundred or so entries total in this field? Now, where does that put it in the biggest poker tournaments of all time? Well, it's eighth. You got some stats for us. I do have some stats I've been doing this day. You know,
I wanted to see where it was. You know, it's always I wanted to put this stuff down on paper because you know, every single time one of these events comes up, we're all all asking ourselves like, oh, well, you know, is it the biggest all time or where does it rank as for the biggest all time? So I figured I would like actually put these stats down on paper so that we have them. Number one, of course, twenty eight thousand, three hundred and seventy one entries, that
is the twenty nineteen WOP Big fifty. I will say this, The fifteen that I looked at are all DOUBSIP events, okay, which is, you know, just a testament to the big fields that they churn out here at the World Series of Poker. So twenty nineteen, that was at the Rio,
they had the Big fifties celebrating the fiftieth annual WSP. This one had you know, a whole bunch of marketing things tied in five million dollars guarantee you start with fifty thousand chips, fifty minute levels, you know, all that sort of stuff, five hundred dollars buying, you know, blah blah
blah. Twenty eight thousand, three hundred and seventy one. Very it has a very big lead over the rest of the field, and second place is from earlier at this World Series of Poker, at the twenty twenty three Gladiators of Poker twenty three thousand and eighty eight entries, so that big fifty that
I mentioned more than five thousand entries, more than the next closest. Then you have two Colossus fence, and third you have the two fifteen WSP Colossus that had twenty two thousand, three hundred and seventy four and then not too far behind it in fourth place you have the two thousand and sixteen WSP Colossus
with twenty one thousand, six hundred and thirteen. Then last year, kicking off the World Series of Poker and it's moved to the Lass Strip, you had the WSP Housewarming event appropriately named of course, also more than twenty thousand, So the top five on this list are all over twenty thousand entries.
The Housewarming had twenty thousand and eighty entries. Sixth also coming from this year, so there's three, there's three in the top fifteen, three in the top ten, three in the top eight from the twenty twenty three World Twos of Poker, and there's a chance that there's a fourth one that gets into this top fifteen. There's probably a chance that there's two more that get into the top fifteen, to be honest, we'll get into that in a second.
Just also add before you continue last YEA twenty twenty two three events all on this list ten thousand or more entrance three three this year. Yep, this one is the twenty twenty three to beat Mystery Millions eighteen thousand, one hundred and eighteen entries. So with this one, it's a little bit different and the other ones except for one other one because it had a thousand dollars buying YEA, and all the other ones are SEB one thousand, except for
one other one. Now I'll get to that in a little bit. Seventh and eighth on this list. Seventh is eighteen thousand and fifty four entries. That's the Colossus from two thousand and seventeen. And then the eighth one is what we just mentioned this tournament this year. The colossus fifteen thousand, eight hundred and sixty four is the number that I have right now, but that's the unofficial number. It might change a little bit, but it's not going
to change. It's ranking on this list behind that one. Twenty twenty two WSP Million Dollar Bounty also had a one thousand dollars buying fourteen thousand and one hundred and twelve entries. Then in tenth place, oh look, another colossus. The colossus is just crushing. Yeah, it really is. It's it's it's the tournament. It's it's good because it's the tournament that started this whole
thing. You know when it first came onto the scene, when they had that first one in two thousand and fifteen, you know, that was like the first map of field, smaller buy in, you know, multi flight, all that sort of stuff. So that started it. So it's only fitting that it has many spots on this list. M Tenth place is the twenty twenty two WP Colossus thirteen thousand, five hundred and sixty five. I got two hundred and thirty fifth place, and I just want to remind everyone
just how good I am. What I yeah, you got you gotta plug yourself, man. Let's got eleven to twelve WSP Colossus again. Eleventh is two thousand nineteen Colossus, twelfth is two thousand and eighteen Colossus. Both over thirteen thousand. You had thirteen thousand, one hundred and nine entries in two
thousand nineteen, and then before that's thirteen thousand and seventy entries. Then thirteenth place, twenty twenty one WSP Reunion coming out of the pandemic or coming back, come back to the rio, have the reunion that's kicking things off,
twelve thousand, nine hundred and seventy three entries. In fourteenth place, you had the two thousand NINETEENSP Crazy Eights ten thousand and one, one hundred and eighty five entries, and then in fifteenth place last right now, at least as things currently stand right now, again, this could change because I think there could be some events that are contending to get themselves on this list. You have in fifteenth place the two thousand and SEVENTEENSP Giant. That one had
ten thousand and fifteen entries, so two events. So so remember, break into the top fifteen, you need at least ten thousand and fifteen entries, two events that I think are in play. One deity main event. Yes, I mean, it just seems like now now with all these numbers like this, ten thousand is very much in play. You know, I'm not exactly sure if I would be like wagering on that or how much I would be wagering on it, but it seems like more so than ever, ten
thousand is in play. I also think maybe the seven seven sevens is probably Yeah, just with all these events as big as they are. You know that event number seventy seven, the seven hundred and seventy seven dollars are lucky sevens, no limit hold them has three starting flights. Okay, so I mean you can it is unlimited rantry per flight the Colossus, by the way, one more nod to the Colossus. Two starting flights. You can only reenter once per day. You used to have six starving flight. You used
to be able to go bananas whatever. Now it's you can put four bolts in that thing, max and then just quickly again, I just want to say something about myself one more time. I didn't I didn't play today. We talked about it yesterday and I said maybe, but I didn't play today. I came in a little late. I saw the line and I said, no, thank you, I will not be doing that today. But yeah, this this uh seven seven seven Lucky sevens event, it's seven handed
there is seven hundred and seventy seven thousand dollars guaranteed to first place. It's actually seven seven seven seven seven seven guaranteed to first place. I mean that one's gonna be wild. That's one you and I jump into. Later on, we'll see all the main event goals, we'll see what our work schedules like. But um, the only problem with that one's gonna be bonan. You touched on it being seven handed still in the early parts of the main
event. Maybe they have some issues with tables available, dealers available, and you know, we hit some line some registration issues, so that might be the only, you know, argument against your thoughts on potentially getting a five figure entrant list number. But listen, they had some dealer shortages the past couple days in the Colossus, and they still managed to have the eighth largest available all time. I'm ready to be put in. Pull me in, coach. I mean, I know you can deal very well. Um,
I would also offer my services for a fee. I can deal as well. Um, the only problem with me is I pitched left handed, and I know they don't like that for TV tables, so I can't do on TV. Don't worry you're gonna be out there in orange table four fifty one, right, just linking. Make sure that I'm in the tundra section. Oh yeah, you want the call. I heard there other room is hot
as heck today, you mean down there? I heard that they had to that the head supervisor, uh told the TVs they can take their jackets off because it's too hot. So and we've been it's because it's outside. I don't know, outside as hot as hell. I mean, you guys, today's the first day it's over one hundred degrees in outside. It's muggy. Yeah, it's muggy. I don't know why it's muggy, Like it didn't rain. No, well, I want to know it being inside the whole
day. No. But we went on to the trailer a couple of times, like yeah, but like normally when it's hot in Vegas, you know, it's fine, it's hot, but it's dry, you know. But for whatever reason, it's extremely muggy today. It's really weird. Um, and I think that that's obviously probably just affecting things in here. In that room that I was suggesting, they have very little ceilings, you know,
all that sort of stuff. So um, tricky spot. But you know it's not It's not as bad as it was last year with the AC one of the AC units being broken last year. It's fine, Um, you know so, but I feel for the tds because they're running around suits. You know so. Um. But you know, speaking of the dealer shortage, you and I were talking today in our coffee walk that you know, we had an idea because the Clossus is going. We walked through the line. We see how long this thing is. He took a video of it
to to send a producers. I wanted to show him what the madness was, like, how big the event was, and also kind of give him some foamo. Why he's not here playing some of these events. He could be live plotting with us and producing right here on the fly. Well, he wouldn't be. He would just be producing. He wouldn't be on the pot. Now. Rich is a great Rich is the best podcast host in
the universe. Look, we had to go to mix and I already gave up mine for Sean Dabe, not giving up for Richild Okay, so, but then they were starting the ten thousand dollars super Turbo Bounty, which there was like thirty to forty dealers like waiting to kick that off. But why
wouldn't you use those dealers for the colossus. But then you also want to give an event for the higher buying players, the people that are going to skip the Colossus not play that right, You want to give them an option, So we thought of before you Before you continue, I know why they were waiting round because the deal is already scheduled to start it. No, I'm saying they were waiting roun because the event was about to start. They
weren't like just standing there doing nothing for an hour. They were to alice but all But all I'm saying is that, like what But that still doesn't matter for what I'm about to say. Continue. All I'm saying is that I wouldn't We both agreed that you shouldn't start the ten thousand dollars Super Turbo Bounty on this day, or on any day that you have a big field
no limit of it. You should start like the ten thousand dollars Study eight or ten thousand dollars Horse or the ten thousand dollars Omaha eight or better those three events specifically because they're ten thousand dollars buying events. So they cater to that sort of player that is likely going to avoid playing the Big Field No Limit event. Okay, Now, those three events specifically always tend to run an extra day. They're scheduled for three days, they usually go a fourth
day because the structures are nice and long for those players. You know, there's split pot games involved obviously, you know Study eight and Omaha eight are split pots specifically, and then in Horse you have some split pot games in the mix. So that doesn't help really speeding things up. So that said, what we thought of is why don't you start those events on those days, So like day one B of the Colossus, Day whatever, the last days of the gladi Eaters, and then like Day one B or whatever the
last day is of the Millionaire Maker for example. Okay, and you started at like seven or eight pm. Yes, you started super late. So it's it's kind of right around the time when registration closes for the Big Field No Limit event that day, So you're using all the dealers all throughout the day to get more people in their seats for the Big Field No Limit event. Then once it comes time, you know, you ushered those doers over to the other stuff, and then you. But but now we're not saying
play a full day one starting it like a PM. No, we're saying play like four hours. Yeah, because if those events are going to end up lasting three and a half days anyway, well then you just get that half day out of the way earlier and then and then it takes three days from there, and then you can keep registration open the whole like next day pretty much, which kind of solves the issue of like the day two registration, which is when like you know, you have forty people showing up before
the start of day two and then delays things. You know. So that was our solution that we were thinking about today. We think it would work. You said you talked to some players they didn't care for, but it's not really about them. It's about the It's about getting that line to move faster. Yeah, this is more about the you know, the WSAP side
of things, let alone the players. But it seems like talking to some some players out there and the kind of vibe you get on social media that the structures are probably going to change in some way next year, you would think, you know, these these ten k's at a forty minutes for the first eight levels, then sixty minutes for the next x levels, and then it goes to ninety minutes. Is is maybe a little too much play for
this, So I think something's going to get changed. And then obviously, once the structures are altered, you know, the schedules might change slightly, so you know, maybe our idea has to wait another year. One things that you have to consider for I think all tournament organizers is that as poker
progresses, players get better. So if you're also making the structure better every single year, you might not be considering the fact that the players are also getting very better, much better, and you know, not busting as quickly like or you know, taking a little bit longer on decisions, all that sort of stuff. So like the two things together just kind of draw everything out. I could actually argue that they may actually bust quicker because they're better,
They're more willing to take chances in different spots. They might nut up. Okay, that makes sense. Yeah, that's saying that, that's the truth. I could just I could just probably argue that. But I think the nother limits structures are okay if the law buyings, you know, they I think the no limits structures are great. Yeah, so I think it's love. I love everything one thousand dollars everything, probably fifteen hundred dollars are
lower. You should be in the money day one. I think we need you should be in the money day one or and I'm now I'm talking like everything, like even including the mixed games. Somehow get the like the fifteen horse in the money on day one. I don't care how you do it. I don't care if you need to alienate the Allencasters of the world.
Just just do it, okay, you know. I mean we were talking some of the players the other day, like in some of the events, like they play a day and a half, almost the full two days, and they're like just getting in the money in They're like min cash you for a two hundred dollar profit, Like they don't want to do that, you know, get them in and get them out, like you know, I'm
sorry, Like some of the players are going to be alienated. But though his players that are likely alienated also need to understand that a faster structure is probably better for them in the long run. I think so, like a faster structure is probably better for Allen Kessler to be honest, forces him to actually play. What's what's the solution to just getting butts in Saints? Now, Let's we obviously get a bigger venue. I mean this venue is the
biggest it's ever been. Like I'm saying that's like, that's like not something that's possible. I mean like getting like you don't have space like they use the capacity. I mean it's crazy. I'm pretty sure we could fit twenty more tables in this room. No, because it comes down to you know, um like fire laws and restrictions and capacity and blah blah blah, like all that sort of stuff. It all happens. Yeah, it's the same
thing at the studio. Like you and I are like, well, we can fit twenty tables in here, and they're like, no, you can't. You know, there's security, there's there's that, there's fireways, you can't block the eggs that you can't do this, and we're like, no,
we can just do whatever we want. There's there's a foot here for people to walk, like you know, and then like god forbid, you have something like last year where there's that crazy thing and there's a stampede of people trying to run out, Like that's why you have to be weary of this sort of stuff, you know, so honestly wondering something like the Colossus. I know, we're down to two flights in this event, why not
go back to four flights but actually have two on the same day. So it's a staggered you know, we have at ten am and then we have a four pm. You know, you could do the you could do like one and then like the later one is turbo or a little bit something like that. Yeah, these are forty minute levels. May you do twenty minute levels? I would still fire that. I would probably prefer to fire that
one, you know, it just be better for my schedule. I also think that we when we have these big field events, what is there three four of them on the schedule, Let's just clear just like we do it for the main event, where we clear the schedule for the first five days, first five or six days, you do the same for these things. Clear it. So there's no like twenty five hundred big bet mix of four
pm or something. It's just everything is focused on just getting butts in seats for the Colossus day one, well, the Gladia to day ones, and we just move on. I mean understand, I mean I think that's gonna that's probably gonna become much more of a thing going forward, you know, in the next immediate one to two years, because of the competition that goes on around town. Yeah, and the venues around town. You know, a lot of them pay attention to that sort of stuff. So I mean
they're obviously working with different schedules, they're different animals. Like you know, they're only running one or two tournaments a day. They're not running fucking twelve and like all the sort of stuff, Like I get it, you know, the us because it don't beast right, but also at some point, like it might need to be addressed or be pushed more to be addressed.
But who knows. I Like what Patrick Leonard was saying a couple of weeks ago on social media is that all of the big field no limit events, so Millionaire Maker, Monster Stack Colossus, glad Eaters of Poker, like all this sort of stuff have online flights, Like somehow figure out whatever structure works with the Like it's it's online. You mean, you're not gonna have forty minutes online, you know, but like does twelve minutes equal forty minutes live?
Like whatever it is and then all the players just converge for day two. You know, you charge the same same buy in same rake, like all this sort of stuff. You can play online, like, you know, I think that that would would work. I mean, yeah, I just the only thing that I don't know about in that regard, and this actually might be one hindrance now that I think about it, is like, if I'm playing the classes live, can I also play it online? I'm
my computer, and how would it determine that I'm playing two times? Oh, you just have an online flight that's just a different flat. It's just like you can't bag both flights, is what I'm saying. You can't bag Tom. But but I could play multiple flights at one time. Maybe it's Australia's favorite. Accumulate a style, Well you can do that, Okay. It depends what the goal is here, really, you know. I mean I think the goal you know is always well, revenue number one. Like
you obviously, it's a it's a business. I get it, you know, you don't have to run the But then also like I think I think it's a good thing overall. Every time the WSP has bigger numbers, I think that's a very good thing. And it's not just a good thing for the world toos poker. It's obviously very good for the world too poker, but it's good for poker in general. I mean even walking through the field. The couple times that I walked through the CLASSUS today, everyone was talking
about the numbers, and not only the numbers in this specific event. With the numbers and like all of the smaller buy in events, how they're so good, and that's like that translates to when these people then go home, they talk to all their friends and family, like it all just kind of
grows in general. Like, let's pretend the CLASSUS is right now. Next year, you could just through the online flights you know too a week over the first three weeks, and if you bag the online flights, you're ineligible to play the live, So that would possibly help reduce some of these numbers
in the crazy line you know you do it. One hundred people bag, that's one hundred less people that are playing the last flight live that that are you know, sitting in line and keeping things you know you do I mean early you do, I mean the first three weeks, so there's no overlapping into the into the live two flights, and that's probably a pretty good solution. Yeah, if you could figure out something like that, I think that
would be great. Um. I think that that would also you know, boost revenue because I think people would be be firing NonStop, which would be mean. I guess I should ask the question again because I keep asking it. How big is a manument gon to be? I mean, every time we get user goes, I know, but that's why I want to I want to keep asking it because now it's like, you know, I think ten thousands or colossus. The Colossus last year had UM thirteen thousand, five
hundred and sixty five. So this year, the unofficial number has it about twenty three hundred more entries. Yeah, but that doesn't correlate to a ten thousand dollar buy. No, but I'm saying, I'm just saying. I'm not saying exactly like you know, you're gonna get that percentage greater in the main event. I'm just saying that, like it's just it's a it's an idea of the growth across the board for all of these tournaments, you know.
Yeah, I mean I'm confident over nine thousand. I'm not confident on ten. I guess my next like a hurdle is like ninety three hundred, I said, coming into the summer ninety four hundred. So I guess I'm kind of with you in that regard. I was, I mean, I was confidently over nine thousand, just hearing everything that the World Series of Poker is doing in regards to satellites and working with their partners both live and online all over the world. Um, I think there was a press note,
you know, a week or two ago or whatever. Maybe somebody told us this. I can't remember exactly, but um, Gig Poker, between Gig Poker and Club GG has qualified like seven hundred and seventy four players. There's been stuff from WP dot com where they're now like in like the home stretch and they're doing like one hundred and twelve seats sprint basically like like the last week leading into it, they're gonna be giving away all these different seats.
They have all those you know, all in only satellites online. They got satellites regular satellites that run online. They have a twenty five seat scramble that's coming up, like all that sort of stuff. Right, You obviously have the live stuff the live satellites that have started, So there's that, you know. So, I mean, it seems like it's going to be massive. It seems like everyone is just trying to sell for it, Like I mean, I do think some people are kind of getting ahead of themselves.
I mean some people are like, it's going to hit eleven thousand. I'm like, OK, can we just slow down? Because then I don't want the anticipation to be so great that it ends up being a letdown. Yeah, because if it breaks the record from two thousand and six when Jamie Gold won and he won twelve million freaking dollars, Okay, then that needs to be absolutely celebrated. You know, it shouldn't be Oh, we all thought it was gonna get eleven thousand and it only got nineties two hundred, Like,
no, are you guys drunk two hundred or whatever? He ends up getting four A ten thousand dollars buying event is going to be ridiculous. Um. So anyway, that's gonna be a lot of fun when it comes around. It does kick off on Monday, day one a of the Devist main events, four starting flights. It's gonna be wild. Uh one C I think Um, I don't want to have to be um forced into playing ten handed if that's what it comes to on day one day, so I would
just rather avoid it. Um. Day one B is obviously the fourth of July, so I don't I don't know about playing that one. Um you got a big barbecue? No, But I mean like, I feel like, who's going to plan that day all the years? In Brazilians? Yeah, I don't want to play with them. I would like to avoid them. Yeah, that makes specifically avoid the Brazilians because they just give me headaches the whole time, like they're very feel like July fourth would always for me
be one day because I think it has a chance to that. I don't care. I don't care about it. I would just start one D for me would be a Saturday. I want to make one day the small. I want to make Monday small, so I want people to play the other flight. So what do we do? We should put it on a Tuesday, and it should be July fourth, that's probably, but I'm not I'm
not dictating it on the specific date. I'm trying to get the biggest numbers into the tournament period, and I think that that's always whatever you're fin If you're playing the main event, you're gonna play it anyway. We're gonna choose the day you want to play. And I think we should be trying to make Day one a We've discussed ideas to make Day one a bigger Day one. I should always be a Saturday or a Friday, or even a Friday.
We try to make that flight big us to limit the issues on Day disagree with you this whole Like, you know, you're just gonna play. If you're gonna play the main event, You're gonna play it if it's on
a Monday or a Saturday. You know. I know people that are missing it, that are not coming because they don't want to take certain time off work and they just know that like it'll always be here and it's not that big of a deal, so they won't use like PTO and that sort of stuff because if they come, they have to take the whole week off. Like there are people in the real world like that. Yes, there are people who play one Ay on Saturday, go back home. Take one Day
isn't on Saturday. I'm saying Monday. Yeah, it's it's a weird day to Sun. Monday Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, which just seems really weird to me. Should we care? I mean we would care. I think being on when the Final Table Asks this year is airing like Sunday night, Monday night, is that like a bad day to have it? I'm not really, it's a bad day to happen. Yeah, that I think it should air. The Final Table should air on a Monday night, in a
Tuesday night if if it's still doing the two day things. See Sunday the Horrible Sunday's a horrible day. We know it's a horrible day. We know the numbers. No one watches on Sunday anything. No one does anything on the weekend other than hang out. Like you're right, but I think that the production see it's like it's kind of counterintuitive because in the content world, you know, you think, like, oh, Saturday, Sunday, people
aren't doing anything, so they have more time to consume content. Like that's kind of what you think, yes, but content gets consumed way more Monday through Friday, and usually Monday through Friday like nine to five during the times and people are supposed to be working, and like you would think, oh, well, you know, somebody's working Monday at ten am. They're not consuming content. No, they're they're probably f and off at work consuming content,
you know, like that's what they that's what people do. So you know, and then we also know that like the later in the week, it's also not the best Friday, people are like ari to the weekend, you know, Thursday example, like stuff like that. So I would try and target it on a Monday and a Tuesday, maybe even a Tuesday and a Wednesday. That way you can sort of build up to it on the Monday because people are coming off the weekend, they're paying attention to the news
more they see Oh doubs be an event final tables tomorrow on Tuesday. Cool, I'm going to tune in, you know, like I think, I think it's either Monday, Tuesday or Tuesday Wednesday would be the best day. There's w should be care about viewership live. I mean they should more eyeballs than your products. Yeah, you should have more. You should always want more evaals in your products. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know if it's on the top of the way you don't want people to watch I'm
saying on that list of priority when they're looking at a schedule. Should and I said, yes, well, yes, they should care about everything, but like you know, we know that's not really possible. Yeah, I understand that certain things take priority over other things. But you know, the US being in events, I guess in a perfect world, thinks start to quiet down, you know, so you can then obviously focus on that more so. Yeah. So yeah, but all things considered, you know,
they're doing a pretty awesome job this year. You know, the field numbers are through the freaking roof. I don't know where the total number is. You know, every year they say like, oh, this year we had one hundred and ninety thousand total inch you know, whatever the number is, whatever, whatever, whatever last year was, they're going to be over it again this year. I mean, I trust me, I understand that the immediate pushback to that is, oh, well they just have more bracelet events
than ever. Yeah, but if you break it down by average, it's gonna be way higher. It just has to be. Yeah, these freaking tournaments. Speaking of by the way, this ten K super turbo bounty, this thing, what did it get last year? Four hundred and like fifty it had six forty two? I out of control? Who is everyone getting this money from save it for the main event. People. People were asking me the other day. I was talking to Mac glance and Paul Volpi.
They're like, where is everyone getting their money from? I said, honestly, I kind of feel like they've just been sitting on it. I mean, yeah, they've been sitting on it. I also feel like people might be just kind of yoloing not not you know, not not getting the returns that they want in the stock market or crypto or this or that whatever, and they're just like, you know what, I'll go play poker with it. I got shot there, let's go most. I mean, I think
there's kind of like the yolo factor in a lot of ways. I think some people, I think it might also be a bit of foma. You know, people obviously might have missed the COVID year at the Rio or the last Rayo year, and maybe they didn't come last year as well. Well now they're like all I'm all in. Like I've seen so many Australians. I think some people last year probably I don't know how many, but it's there's probably a number who wanted to see how it would go on the strip.
Yep, you want to see how it would go. You're coming off the pandemic year, you know, you maybe you had a year away from it, you didn't go You're like, okay, like let's see how it is on the strip and then I'll go from there. Obviously it was Gangbusters last year. It was awesome. The venue's great. We all know that. Like, you know, all the concerns that people had coming in to the venue switch I think are nothing. You know, I think it's clearly
proven that's a way better venue here. The only one thing that I could do without is the walk in the middle going through the smoke. And do you know other than that, Other than that, everything is good. Um. You know, one other thing it could be is that people picked up poker during you know, the pandemic, learned to play, spent a year getting better, building bank rolls. Now they're in a position to play a few of those smaller buying events. All those that were at that stakes already
now playing some of the bigger buying events. So just a little mini kind of pandemic poker boom, you know, to get a new injection of place. Yeah, I mean, like everything, it's not one thing or another thing. It's it's a combination of factors and they all push things in one direction. This year, I think thatsp did a good job marketing some things. The two that stick out to me the most, well, there's three, but one has kind of yet to happen. One, the glad Hes
Poker, I think was marketed extremely well. I think the name was good. I think the three hundred dollar buying thing was good. You know, obviously that's going to be a assa field would get it. I also think moving that the mystery bounty event this year called the Mystery Millions, moving that up to the front of the schedule I also think was a very good thing
overall. So you know, they added the guaranteed million dollars first place prize to that, so you know, I think that those elements help and they're kind of thrown into the bucket of all the different things that are working in the right direction. I also think the marketing for the Diversity main event has been extremely good so far. You know, they they've did the main event
media thing with all their partners. They've had all these satellites, like you know, they're all they're constantly talking about the record and breaking the record and all this sort of stuff. So I know, we don't have like a result yet, but you know, I think we're all like it's going to break the record. It's just by a factor of how much, you know, God forbid it fall short of the record, because that would be a you know, we're all just like penciling in nine thousand plus, right.
So yeah. I mean. Even another thing that I haven't heard talked about too much but I know is out there is the main event seat for life. You know, if it breaks the record, they're gonna draw a name from everyone that played, and if that person gets drawn, then they're gonna win a main event seat for life, which is could be here, could be me. It's incredible. That's like such an incredible thing. Yeah, to be able to win that. So so yeah, Um, overall,
I think thatsp is super healthy. I think poker generally is healthy. I mean, all the numbers all over Vegas are booming. I just saw some stuff on social media about that event at the wind that thirty five dollar buying tournament, million dollars for first I mean, what in the world. I mean, it's just everything's bananas. Twenty five hundred dollar Big Beat Mix touch on a little bit on the supertob of Bounty Phil Ivy third and Chips.
Phil Holme, well, he was first, and Chips he was Phil Holme thirteenth and Chips down to twenty nine players like, we're not We're not going home tonight. We can't. We have to. I'm going on in other days. I'm exhausted. You're not gonna stick around. They're gonna bag up and coming back tomorrow. How do you know that. I'm confident. You know, Ivy wants to finish it to night around here, I know, but Phil Hellmuth has most sway than Ivy. I wonder who has the more
sway Phil. I mean it's close, right, It's probably close. I think it's Ivy. Yeah, I'm going back. I'm I'm flipping this script. I'm going back to Ivy. Um. I mean that that event is absolutely flying. Yeah. Again, that had like around two hundred more entries this year UM Freeze Out tournament. I believe no reentry in that one.
So that one's you know, that one is a great sign for the main event because if people are coming out here blasting ten k in that one, you know they're gonna be blast obviously they're blasting off the from an event in a couple of days anyway, So yeah, um, that one's gonna be great to see how it how it plays out more than eight hundred thousand dollars for first place. Hello World producer Rich here got my coffee, got up early to edit the pond and while I'm editing the podcast, I see here
on Twitter per at Phil underscore helm Youth. I haven't been rate limited yet today he just won his seventeenth bracelet in the events. Just wanted to give you that update. I'm sure the boys will chat about it on the next episode of the podcast, but if this is the first two, we're hearing it. If you're not sweating wsop dot com updates, Phil helm Youth apparently has more pull had them played this event until nearly five in the morning,
and now has seventeen bracelets. Okay, back to the show. Um, Yeah, the twenty five Big Bet mix about three hundred and thirty entries total. But registration is still open, is it? How lates it over until tomorrow? No, Well, they moved the start time up by two hours, and I think there was some some issues with the end of registration basically ending at the lost level of the day. And what does that mean that
you could register the start of day two? Good question. So I didn't actually see an answer to that, And all I can see in the live updates on WSB dot com is that the current level they're in is the last level of later registration. But I'm not sure if that means they're supposed to bag after this or not. Right, Like, I'm sure, I'm sure we could find the answer if we could look on Twitter. But Elon Musk is just totally screwing up Twitter. So wow, there's that. I mean,
it's true you can only be a certain amount of tweets today. It's crazy, all right. I mean, do we have anything else to talk about? Oh? Well, guess what's coming up? Yeah? Why don't you tell us what's coming up? I do it every time? Sure? Well, very important thing. Starting at midday tomorrow, it is the Doyle
Brunson Celebration of Life Memorial at the Jubilee Theater. It is open to the public, so if you are here in Vegas want to see a few of Doyle's friends and family make some speeches and tell some stories about Doyle in his life. There is limited seating, but you know come early for that event. Wise, we have the one came any main event, so that's gonna be popping on any one starting flight. For that, I can't I live. I have to miss that one again. Light Cash two years in a
row. You should be definitely in it, then listen, I can't because the main event starts, and like I know, we're gonna be working a lot during the main event. If you're in this when day one C and Day one D comes up and then day two A B C, it's a good problem to have. No, No, it's not that. It's mostly like if I make if I were to make day two in that, then it's day one A of the main event when I want to like be focused on work, what we're doing here kicking things off, blah blah blah,
go win and Brace said he'll have before you. It's fine. No, moving on ten ten thousand dollar pot limit. Omaha High Low kicks off on the Sunday at two pm as well, and then Monday you mentioned it, the big Dog Day one A twelve pm. It's finally here. I can't wait. It seems both in a way like a relief that's finally. Yes, it also seems like it's here way too soon, like at the same time, yeah, maniment time, but then on the same at the in
the same you know thought. It's also two weeks long, so it's like, I know it starts tomorrow or starts Monday, um, tomorrow when people are listening to this, um, but it's it's still so long. We're so far away from the end. Yeah, so far. It'll wrap up on July seventeen, so far away. What do you think the first place
prize is going to be? Like do you think do you think they're just gonna like twelve million that's what they're gonna do, because last year they got close to the to the to the Jamie it was and it was ten millions for first. But what I'm what I'm suggesting is that tournament payouts have changed drastically over the years. You know, it used to be they used to be like insane, Yeah we're not hitting twelve, but maybe it's like ten
five, Maybe it's a eleven. They get a little finicky with the numbers. It's at least ten. It's just like how much more can they go up? You know, they're not going to go ten one. You know they're gonna go ten five or they're going to go eleven million. So you're gonna need to need a decent amount of players to get to eleven million, I think, but who knows fingers crossed right, if they get ten thousand, can they get to a million or I think tens players going to get
to eleven millions. I think they get to eleven million. Yeah, but getting to twelve million. The Jamie Gold year, well that was just that was nuts. That was also ten percent payouts, but that you know, we could do twelve million this year, but seconds getting like five and a half. I don't think they're ever going to go back to those kind of really wonky main event payouts. I mean, those payouts were just they were kind of crazy. I mean that was truly icm is football people. They
were. They were very crazy. I mean, I'm just pulling up these these payouts from two thousand and six. So that was the Jamie Gold year. Eight thousand and seven hundred and seventy three entries in the US events. So that is the number that we're all trying to beat. Yeah, the dust is trying to beat, which we all think that they will twelve million for first as we've been talking about six point one million per second, so just heads up for double. I mean that's just the south point I out
of control. Yeah, that's terrible panouts. I mean, that's just I mean, but do you think they made a deal. Honestly, I have no idea. I don't know. We'd definitely like ask some people that were possibly there. But it's just like, I mean, you say there is Paul Wassica a good question. You say, like terrible payouts, Yes, looking back now hindsight is twenty twenty, Like you would never do this now, right, But I mean that this would actually be a fun thing.
Stack guy. You should go back to like two thousand through like two thousand and ten, redo the payouts based on like today's payout scale and see what they would be. That would be like a fun little like article or project. That would be cool. Yeah, it would be cool if you think about this one, right. I mean last year when espin Georstad one, it was about the same entries, they had like one hundred fewer entries because they had eighty six or something, right, eighty six forty three or something
like that, and he got ten million. So like Jamie Gold would get like ten million. Yeah, you know, so it's like but then like how would the rest of it shake out? Like the gap the jumps wouldn't be that big, like all that sort of stuff. I mean, this was this what's crazy about this year? In two thousand and six, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth all got one point one five million. Yeah,
that's nuts, Like that's wild to me. I like some of them, the really really early main events where I'm trying to find the year, but like they paid like weird amounts of um, like a weird percentage of players, and our nemesis is walking in and they got our nemesis and they got like half the half the amount of their money back. I'm trying to think him. It must be like the because they used to pay so back back
in the eighties. They used to pay like just top nine, right, and then in nineteen eighty six, right, they went to one hundred and forty one players. Okay, let me start again. Nineteen eighty five, one hundred and forty players in the main event. They paid way. This is the part of the podcast where people are receive If you're listening at this point, good luck you're you're probably well into this conversation and nerding out with
us. But if you if you're not interested, you've just turned it off. We're going to keep going. Eighty five, one hundred and forty players in the main event, they paid the top nine Bill Smith one um nineteen eighty six. Next year, one hundred and forty one players, one more player, they paid thirty six spots. Thirty six spots, Like, where did this come from? They just four x the payatts. But but but
listen to this right ready, it's so great. It's a ten thousand dollar the main event, first person in thirty sixth place, seventy five hundred dollars less than I mean, like less than they're buying back, and then from twenty seven to nineteenth they got even money. I mean, these mofos are just like high fiving in our face. Over here, Ren laying go why but anyway, this this guy just high fiving in our face. Should we get him on the pod? No? I don't want to know. No,
So you can get on with him. You can go ahead to head Captain v captain. We're gonna get We'll get him on the pod if and when we beat him well that's my main event. Payats little rant real quick, go back and you should go back and do it. Like, wasn't Moneymakers crazy too? Like it was two and a half million? I think it was a million. Yeah, but that might have been a garma And was that a guaranteed one? The gap when they look at the Jacobson was
the only time you remember what second place was in that one. That was the one you and me covered and we were on the banner. We're on the banner. This is the only nerd nerd thing I have is that we when we walk in this room, we can say we are on the banner because our heads are on mine Jacobson's banner. I'm just saying we're always going
to have the until they changed the thing. Well, the thing about about Chris Moneymakers a year is it was two and a half million for first, one point three million per second, then six hundred and fifty k for third, So it was like double double double mine Jacobson won ten million, Felix Stevenson second, who knows five point one million, so basically double there. Yeah, and you're you're a van hoof three point eight as a weird that
was a very weird one. Well would your guy get last year Adrian Attenborough got six million I think, yeah, six and then lost thirty percent back to the tax man. Yeah. I mean, I'm just saying haven't seen I'm not saying that the taxes don't, but yeah, it's it's it's so rare these days that you see a double from second to first, Like you just don't see it anymore. It's not how payouts are done, like,
you know, they've been been flattened a bit that ever seen me. An event kind of goes the other way in terms of like what is kind of I guess the norm for flattening it. And I get it because it's it's a totally different event. It's a super Bowl of Poker, Like you know, you want the headlines, the TV buzz like all this sort of stuff. I get it. So I get, you know, skewing things a little bit more top heavy than the norm. I like that. Personally.
I'm just you know, wondering how big it's going to get this year. I mean, I think I think that if you it's probably good to try that if you break the record, you also want the first place to be bigger than what it was. Last year. I don't think you're ever gonna get it more than twelve million. Maybe you will, I don't know, maybe finaglen enough that you get them one than twelve million, or maybe the field size is just big enough that you get them more than twelve million.
Right, Um, But you know, I think probably the most important thing on everyone's mind will be like, well they should get more than espen gout, you know, just because that kind of like makes sense in a lot of people's minds. So maybe they do get it to eleven a million. Ten million sounds so cool. No, ten million is like it's just a nice, cool, like dope easy number, Like ten million, you want
ten million dollars? Yeah, Like it's not you know if you like you want ten million, five hundred thousand, Like, yeah, it's better, of course five hundred more, you know, but ten millions you want for the love of God, No, don't don't do that. Don't do that. But they're always pretty good with the payouts being like pretty round one. Yeah. Ums, a lot of other places really, you know, butcher that for sure. Um, all right, well that's gonna do it for
us. Um. Yeah, my name is Donnie Peters. His name is Tim Duckworth, and we'll talk to you guys on the night Pace spread to night Alone Chinating spread
