This story is set in the near future, where software can simulate, even replicate, the responses of the deceased. The creator of one such "ghost in the machine" wants to make it both sentient and self-aware. This story first appeared in the Third Flatiron Anthology, "Master Minds," and is read by Ian Raynor and produced by Andrew Cairns.
