Today on five minute Monday we'll talk about how to find high quality guests for your podcast. welcome to five minute Monday where we bring you the best tips and strategies for building your podcast in five minutes or less. So if you're new here, consider subscribing. The easiest time to identify people you want to bring onto your podcast is when you're first starting. But after a while you may run out of ideas. That list that you had that you thought you'll never get to.

The bottom of suddenly is looking pretty sparse. So where do you find new guests that will also be good for your podcast? Would there a three strategies that I recommend for finding guests for your podcast? The first one is to research blogs, podcasts, and youtube channels that are in your genre. Now the benefit of interviewing other content creators, whether they are bloggers or podcasters or Youtube Ers , is that they're typically more polished communicators.

So the quality of your interview conversation will be better than if you interviewed Joe Schmo off the street and you're also able to kind of test drive them by consuming their content. By seeing how they communicate in their medium of choice that if they have a podcast and as you listened to the podcast, you're like, oh , I'm not really sure if they're a great fit. Well then there's no harm done.

You haven't gone through the steps of actually having the interview and then have to turn around and say you didn't make the cut. So research blogs, podcasts, and youtube channels that are similar to the content that you cover on your podcast and reach out to those creators as guests. The second strategy that I recommend for finding guests is in Facebook groups. So in Facebook you can search terms related to your content and find and join Facebook groups that are related to your podcast.

So I want to give a special shout out to Pat Flynn for this strategy because he was the first person , uh , that I heard recommend this. And it's been very successful from everyone that I know that it's tried it. Because what you do is once you find the group and start to take part in that group and and interact with that group, you ask the group administrators if they would like to be a guest on your podcast.

You know, they've already established themselves as a subject matter expert by going ahead and creating the group and fostering the conversation around whatever topic that group is for. And in addition to that, they'll also be more likely to promote the episode within the group. And if you choose the groups, well then the people that are in that group are going to be your ideal listener and or target audience.

And so they're more likely to actually take action to listen to that podcast episode and then subscribe if they like what they hear. That's going to be much more effective than just spamming your episodes everywhere and anywhere. So that's the second strategy. You want to look for Facebook groups that are related to your podcast and reach out to the administrators . The third strategy, our commend is to look at the Amazon new book releases. So these new releases typically come out every Tuesday.

At least that's the industry standard in the book publishing world for when they release new books and you want to find books that are related to your podcast. So if you have a business podcast, you want to look at new release business books every Tuesday. If you have a home and garden podcast, you want to look at home and garden books that are released on Tuesday.

So once you identify a couple books that the title is really intrigued you, you want to identify the author's name and then find some contact information. A couple of places that you can do that is through Facebook messenger just by searching for them to see if they have a page or a personal profile that you can send them a message on Instagram. You can direct message them through their Instagram account. If they have a website.

Often they'll have a contact form that you could fill out or if you're able to get their email address. Because once you have this author's contact Info, you want to pitch free promotion for their new book by coming onto your podcast. And the reason that this works so well is because these authors are already in marketing mode. They're already focused on trying to get as many people to pick up their new book as possible.

And so if you come in with a free opportunity to promote their book to a group of people that are interested in their book, that will feel like too good of an opportunity for them to pass up. So if you use these three strategies, you'll never run out of high quality guests for your podcast.
