Hi, my name is Jabriel AlSuhaimi. I'm an independent podcaster, DJ, content creator, creative strategist, a bunch of different things, and I'm on a lifelong journey of constant creation, collaboration, and learning. And today I'm going to give you a tip about batching, scheduling, and using a content calendar. I like to consider myself as somewhat of a jack of all trades. I like to throw myself into new things and challenge myself to be better going forward.
In terms of podcasting, I've helped launch shows like curious humans with Johnny Miller founders for good with Craig Turner. And I'm currently the producer, editor, and co host of the Movie Newbie which is a film review podcast.
Podcasting has been a part of my life since I was about nine years old when my parents got an iPod and I just stumbled across this podcast called the muggle cast, which was basically a Harry Potter podcast that, um, I think people used to phone in and record the podcast that way. I think that was about 2009. And then since then, I've basically forgot about the medium until 2017 when, uh, I was in buenos Aires in Argentina. And I met this amazing podcast producer.
Her name is Ninah Kopel and she introduced me to the world of podcasting of, and what it was like at the time and introduced me to the shows like cereal, this American life, a lot of American based podcasts, and then fast forward to graduating from my bachelor's program, it was towards the end of 2019 and, um, I wanted to work in music, although at the time there was a little pandemic that hit. And it was called COVID 19.
So I was jobless working out of my parents house and I basically fell into podcasting and the editing side of podcasting. And it's basically changed my life and I haven't looked back since. So that's how I got into podcasting. I think the biggest thing for me about podcasting, it's that it's a medium that anyone can do with very little barriers to entry, at least for the moment. I think anyone can create a podcast.
They can basically do it at home and do a make believe podcast with their friends. It's something that kids can probably do. Anyone of any age can do. And I, that's probably the main thing that I love. Although I think that's something that's starting to change with a lot of bigger companies coming into it. It's making podcasting a little bit scarier to start. But for me. I think everyone should try it at least once.
I think one of the best things you can do when starting a podcast is learning how to manage the way you create. So one thing for me as someone who can be a little bit messy with the way I go about my day, I think batching and scheduling your podcast is very, very important. So what I like to do is have a recording day and editing day and then uh, admin day where I'll basically write the show notes, show summary, um, show description, and then there's also a production day.
So if you can figure out a good schedule for yourself, like where you think you'll be the most productive, and that's if you're doing everything yourself. It could be possible that you're working with a producer or an editor and... Maybe you have to find days that work with them, or if you have a co host, maybe it's a specific day of week where you need to start recording, but figuring out a schedule, batching your content, and then sticking to that schedule.
Because one of the most important things is being consistent. And I think consistency in podcasting is what keeps the audience there, and what keeps you motivated to keep on going. So, I guess that's my big tip. You can find me at Jabriel AlSuhaimi dot com and Sibling Creative dot works or you can check me out on LinkedIn.
