Episode description

Episode four of the third season of the Podcast on Crimes Against Women closes out our multi-episode series delving into the criminology of offenders. The fourth episode in this series welcomes seasoned attorney, Elaina Roberts. Elaina has served as the former Assistant District Attorney of Albuquerque, New Mexico, the former Legal Director of the Stalking Resource Center, and is the current Technology Safety Legal Manager for the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV)'s Safety Net Project. Elaina has also worked as a subject matter expert to policy makers, has over a decade of experience working in the field of ceasing violence against women, and has prosecuted hundreds of domestic violence cases, many of which involved stalking behaviors.

In this episode, Elaina helps us take a deep dive into the intersection of stalking and technology. Elaina explores how abusers manipulate everyday technology into items of torture, what stops can be put into place to prevent abusers from using tech to their advantage, and answers the question, "Does artificial intelligence exacerbate stalking?" Finally, Elaina discusses her work with NNEDV, and shares how tech companies are currrently working with NNEDV, and similar agencies, to combat the issue of tech stalking.
