The Light of the World

What does it mean that Jesus is the light of the world? As we continue our study in the Gospel of John, we see the second I AM statement of Christ, declaring Himself as the Light of the World. We saw how this statement is a fulfilment of many Old Testament prophecies, namely one that promises God’s presence with His people, protection from death and direction towards eternal life. Christ’s declaration as the light of the world is hope for all who follow Him that those who once walked in darkness, can now live in His glorious light.
