The Ironsworn enter the confusing organic maze of the Precursor Vault breached by unsuspecting miners on the grave world Hyperion. Relic becomes aware of a symbiote he carries that is somehow connected to the Sunder Shard or perhaps those that seek it. The origin of the chittering hexopods is hinted at and the disturbing premonitions they have experienced become increasingly real for Raven, but Cinderwing resists the temptation to explore what they are offered as they approach the heart of the maze. Then, the survivors of Team 12; a conversation with something unmoored; an opportunity to alter the universe before the impact of the Sunder Shard becomes (slightly) clearer ... and Cinderwing reacts ...
