Episode description
"If “now me” could tell “18 year old me” he’d be a photography website business owner someday (let alone a business owner at all), “18 year old me” would not have believed “now me” for one second! (“18 year old me” was pretty risk averse…) But, after 10 years in accounting out of college, life threw a curveball and I was given an opportunity to join ProPhoto. Then, another 10 years and curveball later, I had the opportunity to take over as owner of ProPhoto.
I don’t think I need to tell anyone that being a small business owner is hard, right? What drives me the most though is that I love helping people out. I love teaching, encouraging and fixing problems. I want to buck the tech support norm (“Can you try restarting your computer for me?”). I want photographers to feel great about their websites and their businesses to succeed. It’s why I got into this and why I’m still doing it today!
Aside from running the ProPhoto global empire from my Michigan home office, I am an Enneagram 9 that thoroughly enjoys being a husband to my delightful wife and dad to my amazing kids. I’m into all of the standard active/outdoorsy things…running-check, biking-check, hiking-check. If I’m listening to anything, it is usually a theology podcast or hip-hop. And if I’m on my computer, I’m very likely helping someone just like you with their website."
