Golf Club stepped back in time of make do and mend

The Ladies Captain’s Day took the theme of the wartime years with a VE Day themed afternoon tea. Everyone was dressed in red, white and blue. There was ration books and the Petersfield Dementia Music Group came along to help everyone sing wartime favourite songs. Over £500 was raised on the day for Dementia Friendly Petersfield. Petersfield Salvation Army is celebrating 140 years in the town

I n March next year the Salvation Army will celebrate 140 years' work in Petersfield, based at its current location on Swan Street since 1924. Corps Sergeant Major Steve Field tells us more about the 'opening shots' in 1886 from local reports at the time and explains the military features of the church. Taro Staff walked 26 miles for company’s chosen charities this year

Members of staff walked the 26 mile route through the streets of Chichester across the South Downs National Park, ending up at West Wittering Beach. All chose to do the full course, finished and still made it into work the following day (4th July). The money raised this year is for Breast Cancer UK and the Ben Kinsella Trust. Thousands walk for their local causes

Sunday 29th May marked the 40th anniversary of the Beacon of Peace national charity walk. The event is run by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association and has raised over £11 million since 1985. They have supported more than 600 charities, many of which are based in East Hampshire. Many of which endured the heat of the day to walk again this year. Lost Species recreated with 2 million toy bricks

Duncan Titmarsh became the UK's Lego Certified Professional in 2010, building models and creating tours, including a huge model of Tower Bridge which could carry a real Land Rover. This fully functioning set was made from 5,805,846 individual LEGO bricks, breaking the previous Guinness World Record by 470,646 pieces. Linda Kirkbride who has started a fire fundraiser

The community of Petersfield is donating to a fundraising initiative to support victims of the Lavant Street fire. Linda Kirkbride has organised the collection via an online crowdfunder site.
