Don't you like excitement? Of course, you do. Life would be boring without the spice of excitement. But excitement, understood as the intensity of our positive and negative experiences, has its downside too. Very often, it is not our emotional reaction that is a problem but its intensity. That intensity made you send that email or tweet, which you bitterly regrated later; or lash out at the person you love; or crash your phone.
