Creepy Urban Legends

Speaker 1

Can I just show you my blanket ? Yes , it's only nearly a little bit started .

Speaker 2

Oh , it's so cool . She's laughing at the fact that I said cool . I'm laughing at how fucking not cool she sounded at , though she says she's saying I'm not cool . I know she's taking the piss , which is unlike Josie .

Speaker 1

That's true . She says that you don't think it's cool .

Speaker 2

I do think it's cool . Yeah , actually I would love one .

Speaker 1

It's going to take too long to make , so I can't make you one , I'm afraid .

Speaker 2

Well , maybe not today , but Maybe one day .

Speaker 1

Yes , I'm having a hot flush as well , can you see ?

Speaker 2

I'm so over this .

Speaker 1

No , we've recorded a lot this week , so I feel like I've got anything to say . No , nothing's happened , nothing's happened . No , it's chemo day today , so I get lots of treats , which is nice , For lunch .

It's chips for lunch because I've found , coming up to the last few rounds of chemo , if I have a full stomach of carbs I don't tend to feel quite as sick .

Speaker 2

So chips for lunch ? That was going to be my next question . Are they chips or fries ? No chips , I've been craving chips for the longest time . No chips , no vinegar .

Speaker 1

I have to have them swimming in vinegar , no . And then Jo's drops me off at chemo . While I'm at chemo she goes to Tesco and she generally gets me Every single week . She buys me new flowers . She always comes to the hospital , picks me up with a new bunch of flowers and normally something yummy for dinner and dessert .

Speaker 2

Just something yummy yeah , Anything yummy Sounds good , and then I come home and do a sleep . That sounds like a great day actually , apart from the bit when you're actually having chemo the rest of it sounds great . Sleeps sweeties . Something yummy for dinner .

Speaker 1

Yeah , lolli , just not chemo yeah .

Speaker 2

Random blam Go . Oh shit now . I thought you were going to catch me out this week , but no , no .

Speaker 1

Right , random blam . I can't have bedneavis you did .

Speaker 2

Which for ?

Speaker 1

all of the listeners that don't live in Scotland who don't know what bedneavis is . It is the . You know the best thing about bedneavis . It's the the UK's largest mountain .

Speaker 2

And we I don't think we've got that many really if we but I mean the ones we've got are considerably large .

Speaker 1

Yeah , this was by far the worst thing I've ever done .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

Not an enjoyable experience . It was not an enjoyable experience .

It was not an enjoy because we did it I know Claire done it , she obviously smashed it but because we did it with a guide Struggled , yeah , I felt it was so militant and it was just head down just one foot in front of the other and I said to , I actually said to the guide I don't know if I'm being really naive , I just didn't realise how steep they

were . Oh yeah , that's what makes it the ?

Speaker 2

guys are steep . That's what makes it so steep , she said . It's a lot of it isn't even like hiking or walking , it's climbing , climbing , it's so steep Gosh Climbing , climbing on the way down .

Speaker 1

It was so much worse on the way down because you're constantly trying not to fall and slip and that it's all uneven , it's all loose and it's like the side of the mountain right next year and it's wet and it's . It was just torture .

Speaker 2

So you won't be planning on doing it again next year ?

Speaker 1

Not Ben Nevis , no , I have Next year . I've decided because all my chemo will be finished . I've decided that I want to do Snowden , but that will be at my own pace .

I can sit down when I need to sit down , I can eat when I want to eat and I can actually look at the scenery and take it in , instead of having to be like , oh God , I'm the last one and everyone's leaving me behind Quick .

Speaker 2

Yeah , that's not something that sits well with you either , is it what being last ? Well , yeah , just being at the back , or , yeah , being rubbish . No , I mean for me I'd be like save yourselves , Go on without me , I'll see you on the way back .

Speaker 1

But I'd done it , you did amazing feet . Rounder . It wasn't amazing feet , they were sore as .

Speaker 2

Amazingly painful feet .

Speaker 1

Go on round and blam , go so .

Speaker 2

I used to do judo and I fought in competitions for the Southeast Yep , I used to do that , and this was back in the day when you weren't put in a competition against your age group or your size or anything like that . It was just purely done on ability and belt .

So , oh , fighting grown-ass men were yeah , exactly , I was fighting great , big , chunky 17-year-old males , and there was little old me at the age of 9 . It was like that .

Speaker 1

Did you absolutely kick ass though ? Yeah , of course you did .

Speaker 2

Well , everyone says about you shouldn't fight with anger because it throws you off and it's not a professional way to fight and things like that . But I always fought with anger as soon as I got hurt . I remember thinking , right , that's it , Is that ?

Speaker 1

the kick .

Speaker 2

Whoop-ah . Yeah , I did well , I wished I carried it on , though I wished I still did it , like today . Yeah , I think I would have been really good at it . But well , random blams done . I never know where to have my microphone where I'm going to be too close like this .

Speaker 1

That's muffled .

Speaker 2

It's way too close .

Speaker 1

Looks like I've got a black eye , doesn't it ?

Speaker 2

Oh yeah , yeah , haven't have you been beaten .

Speaker 1

No , I'll tell you what it is . Since I've been having the chemo , I looked it up and it's a side effect . It's called patechia or something like that . It's the capillaries where your eye is low and everything else is fucking low . The capillaries like leak . So I've got all these little red spots everywhere and I've got one come up here .

So it looks like I've got a bloody black eye , a bloody black eye or a bloody black eye Bloody black eyes . Morning Morning .

Speaker 2

Morning , morning , everyone Happy , almost Halloween .

Speaker 1

Yeah , we've got a great episode planned for Halloween guys .

Speaker 2

It's going to be our first dual episode , uh-huh , won't it ? So it's the first one that we're going to actually do together , together Together , however , that's not yet so today's episode I've gone with a slightly more creepy not Halloween-y theme , but kind of . So .

My thinking behind it was Halloween is one of my favourite times of year , so I was thinking what do I love about Halloween ? And I thought I love watching horror films , I love hearing scary stories and I thought actually that's the biggest part of what I love about Halloween is hearing creepy , scary stories .

So what I'm going to do today this is how it's going to go . The title of the episode is Urban Legends True or False . Oh , okay , part one . I'm going to tell you some tales , scary tales , and you're going to decide if they're based on a true story or a load of baloney , as Josh would say . You guys listening can join in too .

If you're listening at work and you want to play along , just pause the episode when I ask True or False and then have your vote . Let's go .

Urban Legends and Their Origins"

Story number one Charlie no Face . So the legend goes . Kids in the Pennsylvania area in the mid 20th century would tell each other the story of Charlie no Face , a man with no face who haunted an old railroad tunnel every night .

This story was famous and teenagers would dare each other even sometimes double dare each other to walk along alone through the dark tunnel or even walk into the forest on their own to look for him . See if you could confront Charlie no Face . If you got too close it was game over for you , true or false ?

Speaker 1

Is there any more details about Charlie ? No , face .

Speaker 2

That's the urban legend . That's the story that they would tell each other . Charlie no Face wanders the forest and the abandoned railway tunnel , and if you got too close to him , it was like that was the end .

Speaker 1

Did any children go missing ? Just need some treats to the story . Yeah , that's the legend . Well , I watched a the beginning of a documentary about alien encounters the other day and a lot of the children said that they saw somebody with no face and there was an alien that come off the ship or whatever , and it had no face .

Speaker 2

Alien , no Face , yeah this is a cousin of alien . No Face Charlie .

Speaker 1

Okay , I'm gonna go that it's probably based loosely on somebody or maybe some sort of disfigured man , because the urban legends they normally start somewhere , don't they ? Mm-hmm ? So I mean look at Slenderman .

Speaker 2

Slenderman didn't ? Oh no , let's start from nothing . He was one of the urban legends , so be careful .

Speaker 1

Okay , I'm gonna say true , but based on loosely , on some truth .

Speaker 2

Okay , right Sarah's voting for true . The answer is true . Well , in part anyway . Charlie . No Face was in fact a man called Raymond Robinson . As a child , raymond was actually electrocuted and severely burned . He ended up losing his eye , his nose and his right arm .

His face was badly deformed and he would regularly go out for walks at night , often wandering into the forest and abandoned railroad tunnel . No doubt place was a problem for him because obviously he didn't have any eyes , so no big deal for him .

Speaker 1

I guess he didn't want to be seen either .

Speaker 2

Yeah , exactly he would . He would actually get beaten up quite a lot . So if people would find him just sort of wandering , going for one of his walks , he would get beaten up . But there was also a lot of people that were very kind to him .

So it was a bit hit and miss as to whether or not he was gonna like literally bump into someone that was gonna be nice to him or horrible . But because of this the legend of Charlie no Face was born . Raymond passed away at the age of 74 in 1985 . Oh , story number two the graveyard ghoul .

Once upon a time in a small town nestled deep in the woods , there was an eerie and unsettling urban legend that sent shivers down the spines of its inhabitants . It was said that on the outskirts of the town there lived a grotesque creature known as the graveyard ghoul .

According to the legend , the graveyard ghoul was a reclusive being who infested the local cemetery and prayed on some unsuspecting visitors . It was said to be a hunched , disfigured figure with glowing red eyes , long knolled claws and rotting flesh that emitted a foul stench .

The ghoul would stalk the cemetery at night , dragging its chains through the tombstones , searching for lost souls to torment . Others whispered that it would emerge from its hidden layer beneath the ground , wandering the streets after dark , seeking vengeance on those that had wronged it in its life . As the legend grew , so did the fear amongst the town's people .

Many avoided the cemetery altogether , fearing that they would fall victim to the ghoul's malevolent clutches . Others claimed to have seen glimpses of the ghoul lurking in the shadows . Its haunting presence forever etched in their memories . True or false .

Speaker 1

What exactly is a ghoul ? Because I only know what the the version of Harry Potter a ghoul is .

Speaker 2

A malevolent being that drags its chains through the tombstones , I suppose like a ghosty monster type , but I mean they they gave a description in as much as it's a hunched figure claws , glowing red eyes . What do you think ? Do you think that that urban legend is based on some truth or do you think it's a slender man falsity .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I think that's a complete made-up thing . Maybe to scare the residents to stay away from somewhere . I think it's completely made up .

Speaker 2

The answer is false . The tale of the graveyard ghoul was nothing more than a product of collective imagination and twisted storytelling . There was no concrete evidence of such a creature , and sightings were mere fabrications or misinterpretations of nighttime noises and eerie atmospheric conditions .

Although the urban legend was eventually debunked , it continued to thrive in the imaginations of those who sought a thrill or dared to explore the realms of the supernatural . Story number three the bunny man . The legend of the bunny man originated in Fairfax County , virginia , in the early 70s .

This eerie tale has captivated the imaginations of locals and has been passed down through generations . According to the legend , there was an asylum for the criminally insane in the area , which unfortunately faced overcrowding and funding issues . As a result , the patients were released into the nearby community .

Among the patients was a man who was nicknamed the bunny man due to his propensity for wearing a bunny costume . The bunny man was armed with an axe and retreated to the woods , particularly bunny man bridge , where he would look . It was on bunny man bridge that his creepy antics were witnessed by unsuspecting passers-by .

The bunny man would hang the eviscerated bodies of his victims from the bridge as a gruesome display . Others believed that he would attack vehicles passing by threatening the occupants with his axe . The bunny man legend has even inspired books , films and local folklore tours , cementing its place in Virginia's spooky tales . But is this one true or false ?

Speaker 1

Yeah , I've got a feeling it's going to be some form of serial killer , isn't it ? I don't feel like it would be completely made up . I think it's probably based on a psychopathic serial killer , so I'm going to go ahead and say true .

Speaker 2

It is in fact true . In 1970 , a man dressed as a rabbit confronted a couple with a hatchet as they pulled into their driveway . He threw the hatchet at the car window and then , as soon as he appeared , he was gone again . Also , a security guard from the area claims that he saw a rabbit man quoted hacking a front door of a nearby house with an axe .

Although there have been no further sightings , the locals are still very wary of the bunny man Story . Number four Cropsey . The legend goes . Once upon a time in a small town on Staten Island there was a mysterious figure known as Cropsey . Now , this story is not for the faint heart , so listen closely , if you dare .

Legend has it that Cropsey was a tall and shadowy figure who lurked in the darkness waiting for misbehaving children .

Speaker 1

Cropsey just sounds like the name of a bunny , doesn't it ?

Speaker 2

I was in bunny mode . Parents would warn their little ones to stay on their best behaviour or else Cropsey would come for them . He was said to have eyes that glowed like fiery embers and sharp , gnarled fingers that could snatch disobedient children away in an instant . Cropsey would roam the streets late at night searching for his next victim .

He hid in the forest and abandoned buildings , looking for children who wandered too far from the safety of their own homes . Parents told their children to stay close , for Cropsey could strike at any moment . Some said that Cropsey would kidnap the naughty children and take them away into a secret lair deep in the woods , never to be seen again .

Others claimed that he would punish them for their disobedience , giving them haunting nightmares and endless fear . The tale of Cropsey served as a warning to children to obey their parents , follow the rules and never stray too far from home .

Missing posters of children who supposedly fell victim to Cropsey were plastered around town , heightening the fear and reminding everyone of the consequences that awaited those who dared to misbehave . It's very much false .

Speaker 1

It's like the Puget man story , isn't it ? It is . I think that that's probably true and that it's probably grown out of a child's snatcher , or the children were going missing and abducted and then became a fairytale that you tell children so that they don't wander off .

Speaker 2

I bet it worked as well .

Speaker 1

Yeah absolutely Cropsey , yeah , so I think there's probably an element of truth in there .

Speaker 2

Okay , sarah says true , what do you all think ? The answer is true . The origins of Cropsey can be traced back to a real life individual named Andre Rand . Rand was a former janitor and orderly at the now closed Willowbrook State School , an institution for mentally disabled children .

In the 1970s , suspicions began to arise regarding the well-being and treatment of the children at Willowbrook , leading to its closure . Andre Rand , a real life individual , was responsible for several crimes that terrorized Staten Island in the 1970s and the 1980s .

Some of the notable crimes and incidents were associated with Rand include the abduction of Alice Pereria In 1972 , alice Pereria , a five-year-old girl , disappeared from her home in Staten Island Whilst she was playing outside . Her body was never found , but Andre Rand was suspected of her kidnapping .

However , rand was never charged in connection with this specific case . Another one was the disappearance of Holly Ann Hughes and Tyre Hease Jackson , and this was in 1981 . A seven-year-old Holly Ann Hughes vanished from a shopping centre on Staten Island . Tyre Hease Jackson , an 11-year-old girl , also disappeared from the same area two years later , in 1983 .

Both of these cases were later linked to Andre Rand , although he was initially only convicted on unrelated charges . The disappearance of Jennifer Schweiger oh so sad . Jennifer Schweiger , a 12-year-old girl with Down syndrome , went missing in July 1987 . Her disappearance sparked a massive search effort that involved the community and law enforcement .

Jennifer's body was sadly found buried on the grounds of the abandoned Willowbrook State School where Andre had worked as a janitor . In 1988 , rand was charged with the kidnapping and first-degree murder of Schweiger .

While Andre Rand was never officially charged with the abductions and murders of Holly Ann Hughes , tyre Hease Jackson or Alice Perreria , he was convicted of other crimes and , as I just said , he was also convicted of the murder of Jennifer . So this is where the story of Cropsey came from . Rand was known as Cropsey . He was someone that stalked Staten Island .

He was a menacing figure that went after children . Number five the Gateway to Hell . This legend is centered around a location called Stull Cemetery in Kansas , usa . According to the story , stull Cemetery is a gateway to hell Amongst the rolling plains of a small town . It is said to be cursed and shrouded in dark energy .

Legend has it that on certain nights , particularly during the equinoxes or Halloween so any time about now the devil himself appears at Stull Cemetery . He is said to visit the cemetery to perform dark rituals , summon other worldly entities and claim the souls of the damned . People who have visited Stull Cemetery claim to have experienced inexplicable phenomena .

They speak of eerie , whispering voices in the night , unearthly screams and even sightings of demonic figures . Some locals believe that the legends are true and advice against visiting that location , warning that nothing good can come from venturing into the realm of the supernatural .

Speaker 1

True or false , I do agree that nothing good can come .

Speaker 2

I mean it doesn't sound like a ticket Entry into the realm .

Speaker 1

Fun night out , does it ? No , because I am a skeptic of all things supernatural , I will say false . Okay , sarah says false .

Speaker 2

What do you say ? I say because I have researched it . The status is hugely debated and it is unknown whether it is true or false . I personally think false , but who knows ? I think more than likely false . I think people's imaginations and things may have got away from them . I don't know .

Urban Legends and Haunting Tales

Skepticism shrouds these tales , as no concrete evidence surprise has ever been found to support the existence of an actual gateway to hell at Stiles Cemetery or any other location that we know of . Some argue that the legends were merely created to add mystery and intrigue to the area or as cautionary tales to discourage trespassing .

Story number six Dead bodies in the walls .

Speaker 1

Oh goodness , I don't want that one to be true .

Speaker 2

So once upon a time there was a quaint little town . They stood an old Victorian house that had a sinister secret . The house had stood abandoned for years and its stately exterior gradually succumbed to decay . Inside , a macabre discovery awaited those who dared to explore its crumbling halls .

Legend had it that the previous owners of the house had been reclusive and eccentric , engaging in strange and forbidden practices . Rumors whispered of their involvement in occult rituals and experiments in necromancy . But what truly set this house apart was the unsettling mystery hiding within its walls .

One fateful day , a group of adventurous teenagers , drawn by the eerie tales surrounding the house , decided to venture inside . Armed with flashlights and a mixture of fear and curiosity , they cautiously made their way through the dusty rooms and creaking corridors . As they explored , a foul odor began to fill the air , growing stronger with each step .

It was putrid , and it was the putrid stench of decay drifting from an unknown source within the house . Intrigued and repulsed , the group followed the scent , which grew stronger as they approached one particular room . Inside the room , they discovered a hidden passage concealed behind an ornate bookshelf , its entrance hidden amidst the dust and cobwebs .

With trepidation , the group descended into a secret underground chamber , their flashlights illuminating the site that would forever haunt their dreams . The chamber was a disturbing makeshift tomb lined with shelves upon shelves of decaying animal carcasses rats , birds , cats a twisted parade of lifeless creatures wrapped in rotting cloth .

The air hung heavy with the stench of death and the walls seemed to pulse with the unsettling energy . The realisation sent shivers down their spines . The previous owners of the house , in their deranged experiments , had used these animals as sacrificial offerings , entombing them within the very walls of their home .

The room had become a macabre shrine to their sinister rituals . Overwhelmed by a mix of fear and revulsion , the group fled from the accursed house , retelling their chilling experiences to anyone who would listen . News of the nightmare hidden behind the walls spread , cementing the house's reputation as a place cursed by dark forces .

While some dismissed the tale as nothing more than a ghost story , others dared not to approach the house , fearing the malevolent energy trapped within its walls . And to this day , the old Victorian house stands as a haunting reminder of the horrors that can lurk just out of sight . Bum , bum , bum , bum , bum , bum . True or false ?

Speaker 1

oh gosh , I don't wanna say true , because that s a bit much .

Speaker 2

I do think , true , you're sick , its not my house , it is true , although slightly different .

Speaker 1

Yeah , based loosely on the truth .

Speaker 2

Well , I mean , yeah , it's not too different . But in 2015 , the Bret Sue , bret Suez , bret Suez family made the decision to insulate their home . It was settled in Auburn , pennsylvania . However , as the construction commenced , an unsettling revelation came to light . Their home already had unwelcome presence lurking within its walls .

Scores and scores of deceased animal carcasses were discovered , sending shockwaves through the family . Seeking answers for an explanation for such a bizarre occurrence , the Bret Suez family consulted an expert who attributed the morbid discovery to a particular form of magic known as Powwow or Dutch magic .

This ancient ritual originated within the culture of the Pennsylvania Dutch , a group of German speaking settlers who made their way to Pennsylvania during the 1600s and 1700s , often affiliated with Lutheran , mennonite or Amish faiths .

The Pennsylvania Dutch held onto their unique practices , including Powwow , which served as a means to address ailments and attain physical and spiritual protection . However , the mould that developed on the decaying animal carcasses within the walls made the family sick Right .

So not only did it carry an unpleasant smell , but it also began to affect their health and make them poorly . What a turn of events . Yeah , despite their efforts , the family struggled to rid their home of the lingering odour and its harmful effects , with unanswered questions and an eerie atmosphere engulfing their once peaceful abode .

The family endeavours to uncover the roots of this disturbing phenomenon . Their journey intertwines with the history and traditions of the Pennsylvania Dutch , as they explore a realm where magic and ancient rituals merge with the present , relentlessly seeking a resolution to banish the darkness that haunts their home and restore peace to their lives .

I saw a news article on this family that found it and saw their home and they were basically saying that the insurance doesn't cover it . So , you know , check that box that says dead animals in the wall , people , their insurance doesn't cover it and they've literally run out of money .

So they've had , like they've literally had to tear the walls down Obviously , take all the animal cocks out , put other insulation up , have everything replaced . But they said , you know , it's costing us thousands and thousands of dollars and they've kind of run out of money at the moment . So they've started to go fund me page .

So , because they don't know how many rooms , like , oh gosh , it could be everywhere . It could be in the whole house .

Speaker 1

That's not that shit . Down the start again .

Speaker 2

Poor people . I mean , to be honest , I think I would , I think I'd just be like I'm going to do it myself , I'm going to just rip it all down so that there's the walls might be , you know , screwed up , but at least I know that there's no like animal .

Speaker 1

Get all that out so you could sleep at night . Yeah , Imagine selling a house knowing that that's all . Oh , you know you sell a house and go oh , there's a bit of a leak in the tub , but I'm not going to tell anyone . They're like there's loads of dead animal cars all over the house . Good luck .

Speaker 2

Good luck , bye . They're like wait , what I forgot to mention . One little thing yeah , house is invested as the cars driving off . They're like , by the way , dead animals in the walls . Oh , that'd be crazy .

Speaker 1

Yeah , whenever you hear of Pennsylvania , I don't know about you , but I immediately think like dark magic vampires . Oh , do you ? Yeah , pennsylvania . I don't know why .

Speaker 2

Because it sounds like Transylvania .

Speaker 1

Maybe I think , yeah , I think Pennsylvania . I immediately think of vampires and old rickety witch houses .

Speaker 2

And next , a story the licked hand . Oh . In this chilling tale , a sense of unease envelops a young girl as she is haunted by an ominous dripping sound resonating through her home .

Gripped by fear , she finds solace in the comforting presence of her loyal dog , who offers affectionate licks to her hand from beneath the bed oh god , don't tell me , it's not even the dog , it's not even the dog .

Speaker 1

However , oh .

Speaker 2

As the unsettling events escalate , the girl must confront the horrifying reality . Driven by curiosity and in an increasing sense of dread , she musters the courage to investigate the source of the disturbing noise . To her profound shock and devastation , she discovers the dog brutally slain and a macabre message etched in blood upon the walls humans can lick hands too .

Speaker 1

Oh no true or false ? Oh , I just got a big shiver down my back then you wait till I put creepy ass music to these stories . I'm going all out for the halloween before episode before um , oh , I think it's true , but I don't want it to be . But so far I haven't got any wrong it's true .

Speaker 2

Well , I mean , I'm not saying it's true , I'm saying that's true .

Speaker 1

What you just said you have yeah wrong . I think it's true right .

Speaker 2

What do you guys think ? Sarah thinks true . What are you saying ? Shout it out in your cars now , everyone going true , oh false . I think it's false , I think it's true . Well , this story is , in fact , false goodness , so you can calm your ass down because the you know I was worried about the dog .

Speaker 1

I know .

Speaker 2

Do you know what ? If it'd been true , I'd I would . I probably wouldn't have told that because of the dog . But it's not true . The dog's all right . This bone chilling tale draws inspiration from an earlier work by m r james titled the diary of mr pointer .

In james's story , a character endures a similar fate , adding an extra layer of intrigue and connection to the narrative . Both stories weave a web of horror where the inexplicable and sinister collide , leaving us with a lingering question what ominous forces lie hidden within the shadows , ready to shred the boundaries of comfort and safety ?

Speaker 1

we don't know you give me anything like a gruesome and uh , bloody and horror and gore I'm absolutely fine with . But when I'm watching a spooky film and there's shit like that in there , I just can't it's under the bed , isn't it ? Yeah ?

Speaker 2

it's putting putting your hand down to get some reassurance from your dog , you know , and feeling like it's that , knowing afterwards that she very willingly had her hand over the side of the bed , yeah , and felt a little like lick on the back of her hand and thought , ah , that's , that's all right , everything's all right because my dog's right here .

Okay , so you've only got one wrong so far , and that was a . That was a good wrong . So let's see how you feel about

The Kentucky Fried Rat Urban Legend

this . This is our final spooky story for today , and this is story number eight the kentucky fried rat . You must have heard this one no according to the tale , an unsuspecting individual indulged in a savory meal from kentucky fried chicken , only to uncover the shocking surprise amidst their crispy and flavorful chicken pieces .

As they eagerly reached for another mouthwatering morsel , their joyful anticipation morphed into abject horror when their fingers encountered a peculiar texture . To their disbelief , they withdrew what appeared to be a deep fried rat from the depth of the kfc bucket . True or false .

Speaker 1

With all the kfc's out there across the world and the length of time that they have been going , I feel like that's bound to have happened .

Speaker 2

Yeah I mean I I remember hearing about this like when I was a kid oh no , I've not heard of it . This has been a long rolling story about that .

Speaker 1

One person's like in kfc . They're like that one .

Speaker 2

One time that happened , yes , one time I did that and I thought I thought it'd catch on yeah , I think it's true ? Okay , saris is true . What do you guys think ? The answer is nobody truly knows . I've researched it and I've researched it and there is no definite answer on whether this actually happened or not .

The story quickly gained attraction , spreading through word of mouth and capturing the attention of media outlets everywhere . Yeah , yeah , people became both fascinated and repulsed by the eerie possibility that such an unappetizing creature could be considered within the seemingly like innocuous fast food meal .

Speaker 1

You , just you don't I mean , I feel like it's something that absolutely could have happened , don't know yeah , I mean plausible .

Speaker 2

You do kind of think surely the person putting the chicken pieces in the bucket would see that it's a rat .

Speaker 1

I don't know , because they're just blindly picking up , didn't they Blah , blah , blah , blah , blah blah ? I don't think so . I don't think that I think you would . I don't think they inspect it .

Speaker 2

I think you'd notice . You'd notice , I mean , are you working fast food for a lot of years ? Yeah , you'd hope so . I personally . I think it's false . I think it's the people have picked out the worst sort of animal that you can imagine that you can actually eat in .

And they think , yeah , well , you know , that would make sense because you might get rats in , like a kitchen , if it was particularly rank or whatever . And I don't know , I don't , I don't believe it . I think it's , I think it's a load of old . Uh , horse shit . Bologna , bologna . I love Judge Judy .

Oh , I love Judge Judy , or , as I call her , judge Noody , I love Judge Noody . So , while often urban legends fuel our , you know , collective fears and spark sensationalism , they can also be works of imagination conjured to entertain or to caution .

As the story of the deep fried rat in KFC bucket continues to be shared and debated , it serves as a reminder of our fascination with the unusual , the grotesque and the unexpected , which is what we should have called our podcast the unusual , the grotesque and the unexpected . Yeah .

Whether a chilling reality or a product of intensive storytelling , these urban legends haunt the edges of our sometimes culinary experiences , making us question the oranges , origins oranges . We question the oranges Sometimes , give it up . What do you know ? It's the contents of the meals we consume .

The end , and you did really well on that , because you , out of eight stories , you only got wrong .

Speaker 1

Oh yeah , I said the rat one as well , yeah .

Speaker 2

Yeah , so , yeah , I'm going to take that as a challenge to do some more in the future , because I really enjoyed doing these and I really there's nothing I love more than reading a creepy , scary story . Yeah , so I'd quite like to do some more of these . So if you see any urban legends or anything on your research , don't look at them .

All right , don't look at them . Don't read them If someone's not talking to you about them just don't look at it .

Speaker 1

Yeah , if you've got the urban legends , send them our way .

Speaker 2

Yes , yeah , send them our way , but send them like to me . So make sure you title it , not for .

Speaker 1

Sarah's eyes .

Speaker 2

Yeah , sarah , don't look . Yeah , don't look , for like for Kate's eyes only . Yeah , I mean you can just send me messages about anything Like you don't know . It doesn't have to be urban legends , just send it to me .
