Genesis 24

In Genesis 24, we see a beautiful Biblical story of love at first sight. Abraham sends his oldest servant on a God-commissioned mission to find a wife for Isaac. They pray fervently for a successful mission and boy, does God deliver! God leads him square in the face of Rebekah who is quite a beautiful face to see by the way. He watches her silently and also confirms she has impeccable character. The family all talk and they seal the deal. Rebekah left the house for water and came back with a husband. God brings comfort to Isaac through Rebekah and elevates Rebekah to a whole new life as well. God has a taller mountain of grace to pour out on our mountains of grief. Just as Abraham sent a servant to find a bride for his son, God sends the Holy Spirit to find and dwell in His bride for His Son. Just as the servant poured out gifts showing the legitimacy of the offer, God pours out His Holy Spirit assuring us of the legitimacy of eternity.
