Thank you, Shari. It is a minute past nine o'clock on the east coast of Australia, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra. As you can see, at a minute past seven Washington d C Time on the East coast of the United States, the President of the United States has just boarded Air Force one. He is on his way towards the NATO Summit, and that is going to be at the Hague a couple of hours travel time or a few hours travel

time before we see him meeting with world leaders. But as Shari has just been telling you, the past fifteen minutes have been seismic in terms of how Donald Trump has interpreted the events of the past few hours. Now, let's just lay out here in chronological order where we have been today. That at about two o'clock Australian time is when the ceasefire between Israel and Iran was due to take place. A rocket has landed in the north of Israel after that period of time. Now, Iran has

suggested that they were not responsible for it. Israel absolutely believes that they are and has promised full retaliation because we understand that multiple people have died as that rocket has landed now, being so early in the morning in terms of Washington d C. Let's again go back through

the chronology. Were the first comments of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, who is absolutely demanding no further action between these two countries, took to truth social and did so just eleven minutes ago from inside the White House. He wrote this message, which was Israel, do not drop those bombs. If you do, it's a major violation. Bring your pilots home now, signed Donald Trump, President of

the United States. He is trying to send a message to Israel to say, even if you believe that Iran has intentionally dropped one more missile with deadly consequences after the ceasefire period was in time, you have to rule a line under it. You cannot respond. Now we know that the Israeli defense forces have said that because human life has been taken by that missile, that they believe that the ceasefire had been broken and they are planning

to retaliate. So the President, in all caps, the Internet equivalent of shouting, has said that Israel essentially has to rule a line under it and cannot respond to what has taken place. Then the President moved his way from the Residency out to the south lawn of the White House, where he did speak to reporters. Now he did so before boarding a helicopter, before boarding Marine one, which then flew to where Air Force one is. So if I can ask my team to go back and let's show

in full the whole tape that we have. Now, this was not shown live because of a media arrangement where for safety reasons, apparently there is not live pictures which always come out of that walk when they're making their way towards the helicopter. At least that's what I understood it to be in this particular case. So he did make the comments. So inside the White House, truth social

tells Israel, regardless of what's happened, do not respond. He then goes down to the reporters and says, this happy.

Speaker 2

That Israel's going out.

Speaker 3

Now, there was one racket that I guess, we're aspired overboard after the time limit, and at best it's targets, and now Israel's going out. These guys got to calm down ridiculously.

Speaker 1

Okay, So again he's trying to suggest here that okay, a line's in the sand. Somebody. Now again we are talking about the loss of human life here. So the metaphors I'm trying to be as respectful as possible. But from Trump's perspective, somebody's put a toe over the line with one miss that's landed and taken life. After that particular moment in time, Israel says, well, bugger, what the original deal is You hit us after that time. You're

the one who's broken the ceasefire. We're the ones with the moral obligation and right to be able to respond. Trump is saying, at some point this has to stop in terms of the tit for tat that this happened, and this happens, this reaction, that response, and that seems to be exactly where he is now. He's on his way towards the NATO meeting that's over in the Hague in Europe. Now, several leaders have chosen not to attend.

Quite interestingly, the freshly elected President of South Korea or sorry, leader of South Korea, has said that they are not going to be attending. Now, this is being interpreted by some of the magatypes as some sort of a message potentially coming back through China. Now I'll explain that in greater detail a little later, but certainly not friendly to position of China when it comes to things is Japan. The Japanese leadership has said that they are not planning

to go to NATO either. The leaders that are currently on the ground already speaking to reporters, among others, is Emmanuel Maccron, the President of France. Now, he has said tonight that he praises the ceasefire and he recognizes the importance of a few days ago the decision of Donald Trump to drop the bombs that he did, but appreciates the ceasefire where it currently is. The Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who remember a week ago, about a week ago,

was himself hosting world leaders at the G seven summit. Well, he too has been speaking to reporters in the Hague, where he has said that he supports the President's view of things here that essentially a line has to be drawn. Now again, we are expecting, and we were expecting, that there was going to be some sort of immedia statement to camera by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in

this hour. Now, presumably the full ability of communications of a United States president means a phone call has already happened, or may well be happening as we speak, as he prepares himself to take off as Air Force one starts to make its way from Andrew's Air Force Base off to Europe. But very much the sitting position of the President of the United States is that it is up to Israel to help draw a line under the twelve

days of conflict. Of course, twelve days ago is when the Israelis decided to well take on Iran directly wipe out as much of their military and even political infrastructure as possible. There was, then, of course, before last weekend, an expectation that Donald Trump, after leaving that G seven meeting that was in Canada, was going to be joining the effort, or at least was considering joining the effort

to hit Iran. That, of course, took place over the weekend during a period of time that the United States and through the President, of course, had said that they were going to make a decision within the next two weeks. Of course, even when that announcement had been made already the final planning was underway, so effectively there was no

real attempt to move back to the negotiating table. There was a want for the President of the United States to do his bit to assist Israel, and that was to drop those bombs in the middle of the night in Operation Midnight Hammer, to take out three of the significant Israeli enrichment sites. And again reading through the tea leaves here, the expectation you would imagine of the President is in a transactional way to be attempting to say to the leadership of Israel, look, I stepped in, I helped.

I'm now asking you to help me draw a lot under what is taking place. Because remember, under the temporary ceasefire that was announced at the start of today that kicked in this afternoon Australian time, that once we hit SA ten pm Australian time, without any further issues than

that would move into a permanent ceasefire scenario. Of course, during that twenty four hour period, we've had Iran strike back at US military facilities like the ones we've been pointing out for the past few nights that are dotted all over the Middle East. Of course, Qatar Kuwait, now, the leadership of Qatar is outraged that Iran had decided to enter their airspace with missiles and knock out or

try to disrupt those American bases. But also it seems that Iran had attempted on some level, perhaps because they had no further ability to do more damage, but in a face saving exercise, because remember, they don't care what the world thinks of them. They care about what is being consumed by their domestic population, and largely, while they have access to the Internet generally speaking, they also have access to things like VPNs to be able to get

around the Iranian news services. The Iranian news services have been saying that the ceasefire only took place after Donald Trump had begged for a ceasefire after the so called destruction of the American bases. So we know that like everything international leaders, they have their own domestic populations to deal with. Understandably, the Israeli community wants the Israeli Prime Minister to respond to a missile that had fallen after

the ceasefire had kicked in. That has taken life. From the Iranian perspective here, and I am not suggesting moral equivalents. It's pretty obvious who the aggressor in the scenario has been, and that has been, of course, Iran trying to get a nuclear bomb with the express permission of white Israel off the map, while they are trying to tell their own people that they stood up for themselves, they fought back when it came to Israel, but more importantly, they

were able to push America back into its own corner. Now, obviously that is not true. But as you've heard in the past fifteen minutes or so, Donald Trump essentially again saying to the Israelis, please help me draw a line under all of this. I helped you, so please help me. But obviously, again there are people on all elements of this who want to make sure that their main constituency is not the international community, but about what will be

taken from home. Let's go to a full frame here as we start to see the cameras move away from Air Force One, as it starts to make its taxi away and the journey towards yet another international meeting. Think about what has happened, and this is extraordinary, Think about

what has happened in the past seven days. In the past well twelve days, of course, is when the first of the Israeli strikes on a Ran helped blow major holes in their political and military infrastructure, as well as the threat that they pose, at very least the nuclear threat that they posed to other nations certainly focused specifically in and around Israel. About a week ago, you had the President of the United States who was in a

meeting with other world leaders in Canada. That was a two day meeting of the Australian Prime minister scheduled to be meeting on that second day, but he left after the first day. Now, apparently, in part that was because

the Iranians had apparently delivered a direct threat through a proxy. Now, whether that means staffers, people at the meeting, or potentially another world leader, part of the story that we will eventually learn when people are asked more questions or write their books or anything like that in the next little while. And the direct threat was that if you come after us, then we are going to come after America in America, because we already have people loyal to the regime in Iran,

and those people will commit deadly suicide terrorist attacks. That was the moment that Donald Trump decided I'm out. He left that meeting of the G seven halfway through. He returned to the situation room where apparently the final elements of the planning, or at least the beginning of the permission for the bunkerbuster strikes in Iran were being put

in place at the end of last week. Going into last weekend, Iran believed, or at least what was being said publicly, that they were being given a two week window to talk. That was being interpreted as a two week window to maybe move some of the stuff that they didn't want to get blown up in those strikes by the United States and Israel. For those things to be moved out, there has been some footage of a train load of semi trailers that were moving equipment out

of some of those facilities. Again, then last weekend, the scenario of the US strikes where there were fourteen fourteen of those bunker buster bombs that were dropped in three separate locations, as well as our whole collection of Tomahawk and other missiles which were being fired from, among other things, submarines and carriers that were in the area, pretty extraordinary.

Then again, chronologically following through these incredible days, then Israel decided to continue with its strikes, particularly as we were live on the air. Remember things like the doors being blown off at prison where political prisoners were also they were taking after and moving closer towards trying to destroy things that were part of the Iranian regime. Of course,

their tight control over the country. Now while obviously, when we've been hearing about some of the missiles and ordinance that they have been hurling towards Israel, some of them being as old as technology from the nineteen eighties, their capacity to keep throwing things seems to be very much dilapidated.

We then had the scenario where, of course, the Iranian foreign minister went to Russia while we were on the air last night, and the Russians have said today that there best support that they could offer to Iran was not as the former Russian president but still part of the Security Council in Russia had said, which was to offer a nuclear bomb already made one to the Iranians. Instead, it was to support the ceasefire. Then, of course, the ceasefire rolls in a missile lands in the north of Israel.

The President says, let's rule the line under it. Israel says they are set to respond, and we could hear something any moment now. But as you can see, Air Force one is making its journey from the United States to the Hague in Europe for another meeting of world leaders. Again. Seven days in the world, twelve thirteen days in the Middle East that we've all seen play out live on our televisions, morning, noon, and night, no matter where we are,

all the way around the world. But the message from the President of the United States before getting on that plane was, Israel, do not drop those bombs. I do not respond to what had taken place. If you do, it is a major violation. Bring your pilots home. Now as we speak, we are searching for all of the usual sources for information from the Israeli government, be it the Defense Minister, the political officials, or the office of

the Prime Minister. Again, suggestions were that he was to make a statement at some point in the next few minutes. But again, Donald Trump, the direct message here to Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli military leadership has helped me draw a line. Let's make the ceasefire come true. By not responding to the Iranian missile that fell after the ceasefire had kicked in at two o'clock Australian Eastern Standard time.

Speaker 3

We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don't know what the they're doing.

Speaker 1

Okay, even tougher stuff that is being said here and certainly a frustration from the President. One of the things about Donald Trump when it comes to these situations is he doesn't hide. We know what he's thinking. Middle of the night, middle of the day, He'll bang it out on social media. He'll then go to a press conference, make it very clear, and then step in essentially to say in a very direct way, the cooler heads need

to prevail at this particular moment. Now, our plan this evening is to talk Togiel Farrage, of course, the potential future Prime Minister of the UK man of course leading the Reform Party. In between, we will be going to lots of other locations around the country. We will also be having more conversations if we can fit them in, in and around Australian domestic politics. But for obvious reasons,

real time, real moments. Now again, I'm going to have to send a message live to the team behind the scenes, is that, if possible. Obviously there's an F word in there, but I'd like to see the longest version of the comments that the President made while he was leaving the White House because generally speaking, all world leaders, Australian leaders as well. They may want to get a message out,

which means they only answer one question. The theatrics in and around an American president and this was perfected by Donald Trump in his first term, practiced by Joe Biden in the second term, and space is sparsely but still used by Donald Trump in his second term, which is to make comments on the So the southern lawn of the White House, the one that is closer towards the Washington Monument, then of course the view that is available

from Pennsylvania Avenue. And because of the whirring sounds of the helicopter, often when people are trying to ask questions, the president could pretend not to hear. But in this scenario, the president not to only slowed down, he turned, he moved to the reporters. He clearly wanted to be asked as many questions as possible. He didn't just answer one, he answered multiple and included the little le f bomb. So again, I don't know if I can play the full amount of it here if we have a full

tape to turn around. We don't have it right now, but we will get to it in a moment or two time. Also worth noting about what has been taking place about the Israeli position before in and around the six o'clock hour on the Australian Eastern side of things, was that the Israeli Prime Minister had apparently put some sort of another statement out here and I'm going to read it for you here breaking news on and off

of the glasses. I reported to our security Cabinet that Israel achieved all of our war goals in the operation, including removing the threat of Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile programs. Israel also damaged Iran's military leadership and several government sites, and achieved control over Tran's skies. So that statement was made when the assumption was everyone's going to hold the

line when it comes to the ceasefire. Then missile falls into the north of Israel again in between about six thirty I think it was Australian Eastern Times, the Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra. Then immediate announcement from the defense officials in Israel was that they were going to respond with maximum force. So it wasn't just going to be a one for one missile exchange, but it was going to be a full and punishing response because this particular missile

has taken human life. Therefore, the President, and you've seen his anger and you've seen his frustration, is that you had a scenario where both of the players in terms of Israel and Iran, had in and around that ceasefire time said that they had achieved everything that they had wanted to achieve. An Iranian missile lands in the north of Israel, and that throws everything into chaos again. No other formal response from the Israeli government. Sophie Ellsworth is

the europe correspondent for News Corps. She has spent some time in Israel in the past week. It is a febriar situation always, but certainly when the President of the United States is throwing f bombs in frustration, we are at a very interesting moment in time. In fact, I know we played at once. I want to play it again so you can hear it. I know you were

setting up as well. So but here is the President expressing deep frustration, yes, with both sides, but in this hour a frustration with Israel, essentially appealing to them to help him hold the cease fire in place. Here were his comments on the South Lawn again. I hope to play you the full exchange, which goes for a couple of minutes on the other side of this conversation with Sophie. But let's hear what he had to say.

Speaker 3

We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they're don't know what the they're doing.

Speaker 1

All right, Sophie, again, you know this part of the world well, but you also know that the Americans have been nothing but supportive when it comes to Israel. The leadership. The reference, of course, with Donald Trump referring to the partnership that he was having basically is I think in one of the previous social posts he referred to a great team that he and Benjamin Ettnie who had made well. He's annoyed with his teammate tonight.

Speaker 4

He absolutely is, Paul. You can see the frustration. You can hear the frustration. His words speak for themselves. Obviously, this is a situation is moving so quickly. But just a few days ago, Paul, we were talking on your program and I was showing you those giant signs in the background on a freeway. I was standing that said, thank you, mister President. Israelis were so happy with his actions that resulted in those you know taking out the new clip you know, positions in Iran, and they were

very grateful for that. But this has moved so quickly now. Just earlier this morning, I was in northern Israel when those alerts went off. I got one on my phone saying, run to shelter. I was on a freeway in a car, had to quickly pull over and find a safe room in a bunker. But this is extraordinary that Donald Trump has come out and made these comments. I was talking to Israelis when I was in this bunker, and they're sort of saying to me, well, you know, the ceasefires

only a few hours in. It takes time. Now it happened about ten thirty local time. We're seven hours behind in his So this situation is so volatile. But I can certainly tell you, Paul, there's many people who still remain very nervous of where this will go next. And it appears perhaps this cease fire is failing and failing fast.

Speaker 1

Now again the frustration of the President, because his emotions in all of this are key, no doubt. Of course, a very ongoing communication that's happened between Israel and the United States leader to the leader, and then obviously up and down the military chain. Normally, in moments like this, we're able to see pretty fast response from Israel and its government in real time via a whole collection of

social media. Yet again we're seeing a scenario where at this moment there seems to be radio silence coming from the Israeli government.

Speaker 4

Well, this has only just happened, Paul, Donald Trump has only made these comments a short time ago. But yes, the Israeli government are always very quick to respond.

Speaker 2

They're prolific on.

Speaker 4

Social media, and they're updating, you know, their various channels, you know, minute by minute, so you know it won't be long before they hit back. But I can't imagine the Israeli government will be thrilled with President Trump's latest comments. But Paul, this this is just such an evolving situation. Who knows where it will go next, And many people are in doubt. Now, you know, should Israel hit back? Should they cop it from Iran? Did Iran do the

wrong thing? They sent those missiles to northern Israel when the ceasefire had started. Now, it was interesting because Israeli seemed when I asked that as I said, just hold on, you know, it's only a few hours in. I was surprised with that reaction. I thought they would really hit out and say this is not on. They've already broken this cease fire.

Speaker 1

Yes, I think we're going to chance to play the full version of the Trump comments in a moment. So I'll ask you one more question as we put to those that technology in place, Sophie. But again, please stick with us for as long as you can in this scenario where we've had literally, man incredible twelve thirteen days. We've talked about that, the military side of things, the political side of things. This time last week it was the G seven. He's on his way now to NATO.

It is extraordinary that we are seeing as much as we are seeing in real time. Where we see negotiations, we also see that whatever the expectation is of the news day, it often ends up being upended, and very quickly. So, even though it's meant to be a meeting in the Hague, who knows how quickly before either he turns the plane around, comes back, or how long he even stays there.

Speaker 4

Well, Paul, really, I mean, just to keep the inside of the media, they are working absolutely around the clock on this story. Especially when we're sending stories back to Australia. Things are happening in different time zone. Stuff is happening so quickly, updates and changing everything rapidly that the dial can be shifted within minutes. I mean, one minute, you know, we're in a hotel bunker filing about missile attacks. Next minute, there's a cease fire. Next minute, the ceasefire is broken.

Next minute we're pulling over on a highway because there's missile alerts going off. I mean, it's so unpredictable, Paul, and so concerning for people, particularly in Israel, who just

don't know what's going to happen next. And while they were very happy with Donald Trump and the US's actions earlier in the week, I'm pretty a certain Paul, there's not many people in Israel resting easily, and especially with his latest developments this morning, because that ceasefire was so critical and it now appears that it has failed very early in But look, we could be talking in a few hours and this could drastically shift yet again.

Speaker 1

Paul. Yeah, absolutely, all right, Sophie. Look, I'm going to put you on standby, but I know, We've got lots of things to bounce around right now and including whatever you might be up to. And I'm going to hold you any longer than you're available to us. But thank you so much for being here, all right, So let

me get back to this. Donald Trump has really shaken things up, shown an absolute frustration with Israel and the potential Israeli military response to the Iranian missile that landed and killed people in Israel after the ceasefire came into effect two o'clock this afternoon Australi in Eastern time. He's currently in a plane on his way to a meeting of NATO leaders, many of the key security leaders around the world and certainly the focus of the Western world.

Before that, he put out a truth social post where essentially he in all caps the Internet equivalent of yelling, he told the Israelis essentially, do not respond. We have to draw a line. Please help me draw the line. He then goes downstairs on his way towards the helicopter and made comments which are going to be well obvious in real time huge news, but certainly ones that I wanted to bring you in full because even though the highlights we have shown you of key messages and this

moment of dropping an F bomb. I wanted you to see the full comments because, as always, when you see things in their context as live, you're able to have the better insight as to what's going on, rather than somebody like myself trying to interpret it for you. So here is a couple of minutes, in fact, the full exchange that the President Donald Trump had with reporters at the White House before getting on the chopper to get on the plane to go to the Hague.

Speaker 2

That Israel's going out.

Speaker 3

Now, there was one racket that I guess was fired overboard. I was after the time limit and at best at targets, and now Israel's going out.

Speaker 2

These guys got to calm down ridiculously and to be ting by. I didn't like plenty of things I saw yesterday.

Speaker 3

I didn't like the fact that is you're unloaded right after we made the deal.

Speaker 2

They didn't have to unload.

Speaker 3

And I didn't like the fact that the retaliation was very strong. But in all fairness is you unloaded a lot. And now I hear Israel just went out because they felt it was violated by one.

Speaker 2

Rocket that didn't land anywhere.

Speaker 3

That's not what we want, I'll tell you, and I'm telling you I'm not happy about that Israel either.

Speaker 2

All I do is play both sides.

Speaker 3

I'm going now, as you know, Tonado, some of you are going with me, and I.

Speaker 2

Think it's going to be uh successful. We'll see. I'll let you know. Are you always thinking remits? If you've gone in the Middle East agreements? You managed to achieve? What enough fruits?

Speaker 4

Use the plans for the region, for Saudi Arabia, Israel does of the hostages.

Speaker 3

Look, you're asking me about women in the Middle East. It's getting a lot better.

Speaker 2

Things are happening at a high level. As you know, Saudi Arabia has done a really good job. It's coming out far, far faster than I thought.

Speaker 3

So we're very happy about what's happening with women in the Middle East.

Speaker 2

I'm talking about it. Have you gone in the Middle East that you meant it to achieve? Last night? You know the region is going to a new placemen. Can you talk what your UTA plans for godsap, what do you have to do? Though it's a new dawn. I appreciate the question. You're very nice. Who you of Israel calmed down because they went on a mission this morning. I gotta get Israel to calm down. Now, do you have to speak with the l and you talk.

Speaker 3

Everybody both sides not to violate the seaspier, but three folks coming from the reach.

Speaker 2

And such as that. Besides, I accuse each other for a violighting Sepi. So I think what violated it.

Speaker 3

I don't think they I'm not sure they did it intentionally.

Speaker 2

They couldn't rain people back.

Speaker 3

I don't like the fact that Israel went out this morning at all. And I'm going to see if I can stop it. So as soon as I get away from you, I'm going to see if I can stop it.

Speaker 2

And I think it's been completely demolished.

Speaker 3

I think the reason we're here is because those pilots, there's be two pilots.

Speaker 2

Did an unbelievable job.

Speaker 3

And you know, the fake news like CNN in particular, they're trying to you know, they're trying to say, well, I agree that it was destroyed, but maybe not that destroyed.

Speaker 2

You know what they're doing.

Speaker 3

They're really hurting great pilots that put their lives in the line. CNN has scum, and so is MSDNC they're all and frankly the networks.

Speaker 2

Aren't much better.

Speaker 3

It's all fake news. But they should not have done that. By those pilots hit their targets. Those targets were obliterated, and the pilots should be given credit. They're not after The pilots are after me. They want to try and to meet rebuild it super a promrale. I mean, Iran will never rebuild it. Duclin from there, absolutely not. That place is under rock. That place is demolished. The B two pilots did their job. They did it better than

anybody could even imagine. They hit late in the evening, it was dark with no moon, and they hit that target with every one of those things.

Speaker 2

And that place is gone.

Speaker 3

But when I see CNN all night longer're trying to say, well maybe it wasn't really as demolished.

Speaker 2

As we thought.

Speaker 3

There was demolished, and you take a look at the pinpricks and you see that place is gone. And I will say, I think CNN or to apologize to the pilots of the V two's, I think that MSD and c O to apologize. I think these guys really these networks are these cable networks.

Speaker 2

Are real losers. You really are. You're realizing.

Speaker 3

You're gutless losers. I say that the CNN because I watch it. I have no choice. I gotta watch that garbage. It's all garbage, it's all fakeds. But I think CNN is a gutless group of people and the people that run it.

Speaker 2

Nobody even knows.

Speaker 3

There's been sold so many times, but the people that run it over to be ashamed. MSD and see a guy named Brian Roberts. He had said he's a disgrace. Is a week fathetic disgrace.

Speaker 1

Even when world events are taking place, ceasefires are barely holding in the Middle East, plenty to say about the American media. Is the President of the United States. He is now in the middle well the beginnings of an eight hour flight between Washington and the Hague in the Netherlands, and he's back on social media. Another statement from the President of the United States as he is settled into

his chair, Israel is not going to attack Iran. All parties will turn around and head home while doing a friendly plane wave to Iran. Nobody will be hurt. The ceasefire is in effect. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Donald J. Trump, President of the United States. Now let's keep that up on screen for a second, because obviously you can interpret this one or two ways.

You can interpret this as he has received some sort of assurance that Israel is not going to attack Iran, or that is him predicting that Israel is not going to attack Iran. Why because, of course, as he had said earlier in the day, and earlier he made those particular comments. All right, now, we are going to weave in and out of this and some Australian news, but I've got a feeling we're going to be doing a lot more breaking news coverage in the next little while,

so quick break now, plenty more to come. Get another special live news edition of Paul Murray live here on Sky News. Thanks for watching, Tod Dure. It's an eight hour trip that the President is making and he is banging it out on truth. Social Iran will never rebuild their nuclear facilities is the latest of the messages that he has put out, of course, in the frustration that he has right now with Israel still waiting to hear if anything from them. In the meantime, our plan was

to have quite the conversation about Australian politics. Because I've got something special for you, which is Linda Scott and James Ashby in the man Cave tonight. But alas the world is always getting in the way of things. Lovely to see you both. Good, see you mate. So to

see the president dropping any bomb live on TV. And also he's pretty clear here, which is regardless of what happened a week ago, regardless of what happened two days ago, he says, regardless of what has happened in Israel tonight, Israel, hold off, don't respond.

Speaker 5

Look, it's actual bombs and an f bomb from the US president in one week. So it's pretty extraordinary time. And it's interesting because we have seen so many foreign affairs you know, and diplomacy officials talking for so long about how the second wave of a Trump administration would create, you know, real regime change for the world, and we are now seeing that. I think it's a very dangerous environment.

We've got QUANTUS planes turning back over these airspaces, and I know the Australian government's working very hard to keep a watch on everything, but there's not just you know, the US, Israel and Iran here, we've got a whole lot of countries looking on very closely, Pakistan, a range of others, so a very dangerous, volatile and.

Speaker 1

Of course getting close to five thousand people who are in this region who want to get back. They obviously can't because of those closed airports at the moment. But again, James, the thing that I find fascinating, and again we can do two things at once, which is to look at the whole situation as well as the incremental things that are happening. Trump doesn't hide what he's thinking. He doesn't he's essentially and the joy of the technology means that

he's not waiting for the back channel. He's just blasting it straight out and the world can all find out together in real time what he's thinking.

Speaker 6

Well, I like the fact that Trump is living up to what he said he does not want war and to be able to turn around and just moments ago say that Israel have turned back at jets is a good sign because that is not what the world wants. We've made it very clear. I think what's happened in the last week has been necessary. We've been very, very very confident that this will end, and it will end soon. It may not have ended as quickly as what Trump

had wanted. But it can't go on for long, as I say, it got lots of things to get to tonight. Nigel Farage will join us very shortly from the United Kingdom. So let's try to bounce through a couple of local issues here, including one that literally affects you, James, which is the staffing levels that the re elected government has now decided to impose upon anyone who is not one of their political friends.

Speaker 1

Now what are we saying here. We're saying that there has previously been about twenty twenty one percent of the total amount of government staffing is given to opposition parties. Now, whether the assumption is here because there are so few members of the opposition therefore fewer staff. But remember this is an alternative government, right. We have the absurdity of places like Queensland where David Cruci fully remember told me that the entire staff of the opposition was twenty people.

This is verse the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds that are working in all different parts of the machine. And that's bad for democracy, right. Regardless of whether it's a Team Red or Team blue, you want the people who are your political opponents to have professional staff around them, but it seems there might be something rather specific about the staff behaviors towards One Nation.

Speaker 6

Well, what I found most disturbing the Prime Minister clearly backchanneled media before he gave any decency to go and have those discussions with the senators or the party leaders that were about to lose staff. I had staff wake up this morning texting saying, am I losing my job? We hadn't even received the latter. Now that's despicable. And to think that this Prime Minister has cherry picked his friends and then flicked his enemies. That's precisely what he's done.

He has said we're halving One Nation staff numbers. The personal staff will be halved, he said. Ralph Babett has lost staff today. He has had his personal staff halfd But the likes of Tammy Tyrrell, David Pocock, Jackie Lamby haven't. Yeah, now one in all in or you just can't cherry pick your friends.

Speaker 1

That's the problem. But also remember I mean literally One Nation doubled its representation, sure, Senate, but it will have the same amount of staff as when they had half of what they got at the election. Let's also talk here about News Wales and Queensland budgets because again I'm aware that at any second we could be off to what the President is tweeting today. New South Wales, Linda, what did you think of the budget that was handed down by the Labor government in New South Wales.

Speaker 5

Well, I've just come from being with Premier Chris Mins and Daniel Morkid. Christmins did want me to say hello to you and today Bremer Hello Sky News audience from Chrismins. He's got friends.

Speaker 2

Everywhere, everywhere, made everything.

Speaker 1

Across the nation.

Speaker 5

I think the two hallmark things in the New South Wales budget today the billion dollar investment in housing through supporting to help developers loan for properties to get them to access finance. That he's going to fast track homes out of the ground and hopefully create more accessible, affordable homes for New South Wales a big priority. And the other big landmark is the one point two billion dollar

investment in foster caring and child protection. We know in so many parts of Australia vulnerable children do better when they have great foster care, when they have better support and wrap around services, and that you know one point two billion dollars. I think is a really landmark labor decision and I'm really personally proud of that. I think it's an extraordinary thing.

Speaker 1

A Queensland also pat it's budget today.

Speaker 6

James Well not overly impressed in the fact that they haven't done something about the royalties on coal. We know well me especially living in Central Queensland, we've seen coal mines going backwards. The cost of production outweighs what they're getting on the spot market at the present moment, and the only winners are the state government. Meanwhile, we've got more and more minds considering going into care and maintenance, which means the loss of thousands of jobs, particularly in

the Central Queensland region. And unfortunately for a lot of people they don't realize we've got fly and fly out miners from city regions as well as our regional areas, and so the impact that that's having is far far greater than what most people recognize. When it comes to the housing investment that Queensland's looking at, I'm still not

sold yet. I'm not confident that a state government should be allowing people to buy a million dollar home with a two percent deposit and the state government goes in as an equity partner with thirty percent. It just doesn't make sense to me. And effectively, you can buy a million dollar property with a twenty thousand dollar deposit. It just rubs me a bit the wrong way as a taxpayer.

And I just don't know, if you don't have enough skin in the game, are you going to look after that place the way you would if you really save that ten percent fifteen percent.

Speaker 1

Last one here is about the social media changes that are going to happen around age limits to access things like X and meta and all of those things. The East Safety Commissioner, the Computer Karen says that YouTube should be part of this where basically because of course we know that there's all sorts of stuff on YouTube, right from good funny, satirical political cartoons on Paul and Hanson's Please Explain to Fail videos, but there's also a lot

of rougher stuff out there. The company, though, which of course is googled. Linda, would say, well, there's already a platform called YouTube Kids. That's the one that they should be focused on. There's not a kid's version of X, so they've already demarketed and it's up to the parent what they download. What do you think.

Speaker 5

Look, I think this social media reformed by the Labor government is world leading reforms and it's reasonable that they take some time to figure out what is going to be in and what is going to be out, and I think it's important to look hard at that. I don't think there's many parents in Australia, and I speak as a parent of two lovely teenage boys who are not worried.

Speaker 1

About this though.

Speaker 5

And I think that no platform can guarantee a child is not going to see something that's unsafe. They can't. It's just called that out. And yet they do use many of these platforms for learning. So look, I don't have a definitive view. I think it's good for the government to look at it, but these world leading reforms are important to do.

Speaker 1

I want to be respectful to Nigel in a moment, so give me the thirty second version, James.

Speaker 6

Look, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for YouTube. At the end of the day, my business ran off me and my staff learning off YouTube, and kids are the same way. I wouldn't deprive a child from learning how to use the Adobe package on YouTube and so I'm not for it.

Speaker 1

Parents need to take it more. Chares free, tap free tabe all right. See if they didn't get something in, it wouldn't be a normal show. Alas, I have to end it there because the wonderful Nigel Frans joins us now from the UK. Nigel, in real time, we are seeing the President of the United States reacting to the events in the Middle East, including well swearing and being rather direct about it about his frustrations, particularly with Israel. Let's hear a bit of it, and I want to get your response.

Speaker 3

We basically have PIO codes that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don't know what the fuck they're doing.

Speaker 1

Nigel, what do you think? Sorry?

Speaker 7

I know I should laugh really, given how serious the situation in the Middle.

Speaker 1

East is, but it's difficult not to.

Speaker 7

It's very Donald, it's very Donald, very direct, and he's showing his anger. You know, he is trying like crazy with Russia and Ukraine. He's trying like crazy now in the last twenty four hours with Israel and Iran, and yeah, Israel aren't playing the game. Look, you know, he wants to be a peacemaker. That's his instinct. It always has been. But I'm afraid this situation in the Middle East is going to rumble on, I think for some considerable time.

Speaker 1

Yeah. Interestingly, Iran in the past couple of minutes has released the statement suggesting the revolution regards is that the final wave of attacks, they fired fourteen missiles, and they did so apparently minutes before the ceasefire. So again, the position of the president in all of this is when things land, but at some point you've got to rule a line under it. From the Israeli perspective, though, Nigel,

apparently this has been fatal. There have been lives that have been lost by that final missile landing post and obviously, and always every government wants to respond when one of its own dies. Yeah.

Speaker 7

Well, I mean, the best hope we've got is that Israel have done this because they want to have the final word. Yeah, you know, I got the last blow in type of thing to say to my electorate. Let's hope it's that. Let's hope the whole thing doesn't break down completely and go back to where it was. But frankly, I was a bit skeptical last night when I saw the seas far I'm even more so now.

Speaker 1

Frankly, also again let's just again be in the middle of talking about the grains of sand and the minute by minutes, but then let's step back and have a look. Literally what an extraordinary two weeks. I mean an extraordinary two weeks where if two weeks ago we had talked about the potential of Israel hitting Iran, people would have assumed what is going to be? Would the America first

guy get involved? Yes, within that period of time, in and out of international conferences and on his way towards the Hague, it has been an extraordinary period of time to be living through. Yes, it has.

Speaker 7

And actually, I mean what America did is one of their most significant interventions in decades. I mean, I don't think we should underestimate America getting involved in this. What it means, of course, what we can't deduce is just how much of the Iranian material has been destroyed? Did they get stuff out before?

Speaker 1

I don't know.

Speaker 7

I have to say personally, I believe America did the right thing. I think that the jcpoa deal that was done just over a decade ago by Obama, the European Union and the BRITZ was idiotic in the extreme, it freed up tens of billions of dollars.

Speaker 1

And what did the Uranians do?

Speaker 7

They funded the hooties Hamas and his Bulla and carried on enriching uranium. They are the really dangerous country in that region. So I do believe that America has done the right thing politically, though it is difficult for Trump to do anymore. The idea of sending the US army in I just don't believe the MAGA movement, be it Steve Bannon or anyone like that, would frankly put up with it. So I think Trump saw this as a swift intervention. I think he'll be reluctant to do much more.

Speaker 1

Yeah, you get that sense, and certainly the frustration in which that he has been expressing himself tonight would very much put that in the place. And now he's on his way to the Hague. He's on his way, of course, to the Netherlands. Of course, you will and truly aware of how the Europeans like to do things. Any last minute of advice about what it's like to swarm around with one of the ultimate versions of the political swamp.

Speaker 7

Yeah, I think quite honesty. When you saw the G seven, the other week that he left early. It left the leaders of the European Union sort of, you know, flapping around a bit like fish you've just been taken out of water. He has no great love, he has no great love for the European Union whatsoever. But he might well have a nice word to say to the German Chancellor, who at least was supportive of what the Israelis and

Americans have done. As for President Macron, well, he basically has said that the American attacks were illegal, and he's on the verge of recognizing, you know, Palestine, which would be a reward to Hamas. So I think if Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron are in a room together, you'll hear some more of the juicy language we just heard as he was boarding the aeroplane.

Speaker 1

Correct, both of them speaking French. One that's audibly available to us who do not speak native tongue, but are aware of certainly what it means. Now, your poles keep getting better, stronger. No surprise there one pole. I think this was the Yugo pole through Sky News in the UK has reform in front of Labour twenty five twenty four Conservatives at twenty one, an Ipsos pole much much better which it has Reform at thirty four, Labour twenty five,

the Conservatives back at fifteen. This is extraordinary. We talk about it, wek in week out, and these poles are way beyond fluke. A movement has been built and as you say, if you want reform, vote reform, and that seems to be where the majority of well people are starting to coalesce around.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 7

I mean this time last year, exactly this time last year, reform didn't have a single MP nothing, and yet we are consistently leading in all of the opinion polls in some of.

Speaker 1

Them were leading by a lot. Why Why?

Speaker 7

Number one, there's a gap in the market. There is a talent gap in the market of an enormous magnitude. Secondly, I'm a known quantity. And thirdly, I have been talking about what damage net zero would do for years. I've been talking about young men, you know, undocumented young males coming into Britain in large numbers, causing problems, especially for British women. And I think, frankly, events over time have proven me.

Speaker 1

Right on things.

Speaker 7

This country wants someone to come in fix it and turn the country around. Right now, they're beginning to place their faith in me, and do you know what, I actually think they're right too, because I'm not afraid.

Speaker 1

You know, I don't back down and I know what I believe in. Yeah, certainly again, you know, one of the great lefty queens is just interrunting the former New Zealand Prime minister and she's got a book out in a documentary and all the rest of it. As they throw rose pedals at her. The only reason she was prime minister was because of of a guy called Winston Peters Right. New Zealand first was his is his political movement. He has done the same to put now the National

Party in as the leaders in New Zealand. And he's come out today and he has spoken very strongly about low skilled immigration. Put simply his words, new Zealand has enough uber drivers. Yeah.

Speaker 7

I know Winston very well. He's a bit a friend of mine for a long time. I've even taken him to the Oval to watch cricket. So I Winsland and I think very alike. He's never been afraid to say what he thinks masses in New Zealand politics. He doesn't even make much of his own Marie background.

Speaker 1

He just is what he is.

Speaker 7

As you say, he has become the modern day kingmaker in New Zealand politics and he's right. Low skilled migration in the end costs a country money and it makes no sense.

Speaker 1

Good man. Thank you so much. Thank you, Nigel. We'll talk to you again at next week. Nae fras leader of the Reform Party. If you want reform, vote reform almost, I say plenty more breaking news with the Light to bike moments from now he runs Scone News. Thanks for watching.
