This is the Patriots Training Camp Cast. The Patriots Training Camp Cast is your source for all the news from Patriots training Camp. Well, I do still watch the news. Practice is over, but the writers of Patriots dot com have you covered what I miss yesterday? Now here to review today's practice? The writers of Patriots dot com. Twelve days, twelve days of practice we've already had. Can you believe it? Paul Parillo, we are twelve days into Patriots training camp.

I was at all twelve so yes, yeah, me too. I'm Eric Scalovino. That was Paul Perillo. We are here at to Let Stadium, just wrapped up the twelfth practice session, and you know, we went a little bit long yesterday. Paul again in full pads today exactly Bill is. I've heard that from Bill before, and today he made it

true where he cut practice a little bit short. And this being our last public viewing before Thursday's preseason opener with the Washington football team, it was very much a game simulated walk through type field kind of like last Friday's in stadium practice was. And we saw quite a bit of quarterback number five Brian Hoyer today. Yeah, it

took me a little bit by surprise. Yeah, And it was another practice, you know, similar to the in stadium one last week, with a tempo was really low and you know, the intensity wasn't really there, you know, as you said in Shells, after a couple of heavy days of contact. But I did think it was a little

different to see more Hoyer. I wonder if maybe, yeah, the plan maybe Thursday night is to get mac Jones and Cam Newton some reps, and if Hoyer doesn't factor into those game reps, maybe you get them some on the practice field, even though they were under less than ideal circumstances. I don't know, that's just a total guest on my part, but you know, we'll see how that unfolds.

But you know, at the very end of practice, there were a couple of two minute drills and mac Jones came in for one and I thought he looked normal. He was, you know, he was sharp like he has been the last couple of days. And then Hoyer came in and did throw one pick to Harvey LONGI but otherwise that you know, went off without a hitch as well. So I do think in the back of my mind, I'm wondering if maybe that means Hoyer won't be getting as much work as the week sort of progresses here.

That's kind of what I was thinking too. But we've seen a weird rotation of quarterbacks throwing in our years here in preseason, so anything could happen. Wouldn't be surprising if one quarterback goes wire to wire, whoever that is, or we could see a number of them. So that's just something we'll have to keep in mind on Thursday night. Are you starting to get concerned at all about some of these players who we haven't been seeing much of

at all on the field? And I'm thinking, you know, the last few days now Nelson Agilore not being able to go out there after he seemed like he had a nice start to camp. It seemed to him merge as a leading candidate to be a top receiver here, and now he's he's missed a few days. Is that or him or anybody else that? Yeah, I think Agilore

is one to sort of keep an eye on. He missed practice on Sunday, He was out there on Monday and now Tuesday, but basically took part in the positional drills and wasn't part of anything that they did and I thought today, especially with such a low intensity practice, for him not to have stayed out there. He sort of leaves and you know, when it's the regular practice fields,

he retreats to the lower rehab field. I'm not really sure exactly where he went today, but he wasn't with the rest of the offense when the offense was working during the majority of the hour and a half or so that they were out there. So that's one we talked a little bit during our Patriots on Filter show about Hunter Henry Right. Reports say that, you know, he was undergoing an MRI. It's not believed to be a serious injury. But at the same time, yeah, Bill Belichick

called it day to day. Others including Mike Reese and Adam Schefter and some other reports are calling it he could be out a couple of weeks. To me, at this time of year, it's not ideal to be out

that long. I know, it's better than being out that long during the season, interesting say three games, right, But at the same time, this is valuable time for him to be, you know, getting acclimated with the offense and more importantly, getting acclimated with the quarterbacks because both Cam Newton and mac Jones are going to need hunter Henry Ye and it'd be nice to see them continue to

develop that report. You know, before practice started, I was talking with our colleague Mike de So, and we were just kind of remarking about how thin it seems the safety position is in terms of depth, Like, they got plenty of defensive backs on the roster, but most of them are playing corner. And we were trying to look at where the safety depth is and didn't see a

whole lot of it. And today there was a new safety out there wearing number nineteen, and reports there were that it was an old friend and Malik Gant, who would spend some time here in the program. Yeah, and there's no question. When we were doing our initial fifty three man roster last Friday, you and I and induce you know, it was Devin mccordy, it was Adrian Phillips, and it was Kyle Dugger and we're like, what else? Then? You know, who else? Is sort of a luck? That's

three safeties now. And I know they have some guys that are traditional safeties by trade who play mostly on special teams, Guys like Cody Davis, probably some others that would factor into that mix that bring back a guy like Malik Gant has some familiarity. He's been with the team in the summer the last two years. I think he had an injury in the first year, right, Yeah,

so last year he didn't make it, you know. So it's a guy at least as familiar with the defensive system and how things are run here, so maybe he can offer some depth. Yep. And at the end of practice, as usually, get the little hurry up simulating the end of the game scenario and you send the field goal unit out and a Nick Folk can tinues to nurse

whatever is ailing him. He was out there again just to sort of observe and be a shoulder to cry on, I guess for the rookie Quinn Nordine, but Noordina, nothing to cry about. It looked like he again, just like last week in the in stadium practice, was handling the kicking chores pretty well and nailing his kicks. So he's I think I think he's um making a run here a couple of weeks into campus and taking advantage while

while Folk is on the mend. Yeah, you know, and I think his strong leg is a parrot and you talk about this all the time, because kicking's your thing, Eric, and you know a lot more about it than us. But the ball just comes off his foot a little bit differently than most others. And I think if he can get whatever the problems that he had in college, because he's basically a SI consistent, Yeah, it's basically a seventy percent success guy in college, that's not good enough.

So if he can get over whatever mental hurdles he had, clearly he has the physical ability, and lately with folk out he has made a lot more than he's missed. So maybe he's the point now where you know, he's starting to establish some consistency for himself. Well, we've got a lot of position groups to look at, and finally we're going to get another team out on the field to sort of gauge where the Patriots are in terms of their competition at these various positions on Thursday night

when we welcome the Washington football team. So until then, for Paul Perello and our producer Matt Morrell, I'm Eric Skalavino. We will talk to you again the next time we have practice. By the way, we should mention, we'll be in the city of brother we Love in Philadelphia next week doing reports from the joint practice sessions with the Eagles down there at their Novercare Complex in downtown Philly, and we'll be broadcasting live from there, so look out

for that. And in the meantime, like I said, we've got the game Thursday night. So for Paul and Matt, I'm Eric. We will see you soon.
