now made a big difference in this game today. Dietrich Wise joins us here on the hotline. Dietrick nice win there today. How are you feeling after this one? Because I'm great, I'm very excited. Hey, Tetris did it? Did it surprise you at all? That it seemed like they came out and wanted to maybe throw a little bit more, maybe anticipating you guys we're gonna gear up to stop Chubb in the running game. That did that surprise you? Guys?
Are we kind of prepared that they might come out and try to throw the ball a little bit more? You know, we were very prepared. They have a great run games with Hunt and Chubbs, and we knew if we were able to stop them then to always go to his favorite receiveson which is cool and uh that's something when that was our main goal, just stopping the run, making the one dimensional and once you put the ball in and Jacoba's hands, then then the next game plan
was after the past. Okay, so we know that was the game plan. Dietrich. You know, how did you guys execute it so well? Because even when they did run Chubb, you never you guys never really allowed him to pick up much team. Yeah, our coaching staffs to defend and cot the job of pret in a good front, uh, beating their old lineman, being able to push the old
line back, making him stop his speed. And if he did hit the edge, we had other guys around us to to help set an age or uh if you wanted to cut back, other guys coming in, and we kind of just made him flustered him a little bit. He's a really good running back, fantastic running back, but he's really do when he's coming downhill and he's not moving as like speed, keep moving. Once we stop the seed, once we have him tried chang direction, that's when he
becomes very easy be e tackle. We're joined by Dietrich. Wise, Dietrich, you're kind of breaking out this year. And I don't know if I don't know if anyone's told you that yet, but you're kind of you're kind of busting out this year. Um, I have a question about that. That celebration. Was that a volleyball celebration? We saw after that? Say, yes, it is. When I get push I like to do a little volleyball celebrating. It's a little honor to my wife to
play volleyball. So every time I bet the ball down, I give a little bump that very nice teachers. Last week, you guys got the shout out this week, you know, just just one touchdown. What can you say about just the complimentary nature of the defense right now? It seems like the pressure is playing well on one snap, the secondary's making plays on the ball and getting turnovers. It just seems like you guys are all really starting to
find your stride here after six games. You know, it's a It's a fantastic thing to see when we're playing together. There's a whole saying that the pass rush and the cover should always be married. That means when the pass rushes, when the guys a front seven and again to quarterback stopped stopping him, stacking him or pressuring him, and the balls coming out. Then the the dbs are able to either lock the bock the receivers down or capitalize our
bad roads and get a pick. So just we're just playing together and that's something that that we all he wanted to do, and I want to say we've been doing it, but it's just getting better and better and we're kinding more and more in sync every week. Well, I have to ask you about the big guys with the football in their hands. Carl Davis's got the ball and he's an open space. So what did you guys see you guys get under the end zone? If we addressed this yesterday, we talked about it. He gotta he
gotta he's doing. He did the same type of job picking up all up and running. Uh, you know, that's a lot of space for a big guy. But he did a wonderful job keeping the ball in his hands and uh, you know he had to do a little cup move. But hey, you gotta keeping on his on his elusiveness as a runner back. D you guys were out. We're without Lawrence guy, you wouldn't have known it from from the way you guys played. What do you what do you have to do to sort of make up
for his absence in a game like this. Well, first of all, he's on the sideline and he's doing a wonderful job helping us seeing things that we're not able to see and help us out comment being a second coach. And even though we missed him on the field, Uh, he's given it. He's he's given that great insake and we have to we have to pretty much cover his his ability to stop the run um he's just fantastic run stop him And when he was out then it kind of made other guys have to step up play.
I'm playing a little inside more now, Big Sam uh Our, rookie's coming in there, Carl dg and a ton of it, a little doing a wonderful job on the installs, Christian baltmore so. It just it doesn't put pressure, but we all just have have to step up and do it type the job and he's asking one. All right, we'll leave it right there. D trick wise, great game today, enjoy the win, enjoy your time in Cleveland. Thank you
very much. You have a great day, all right. Save thanks Dietrich's wise who was everywhere today, a lot of the defense was dominant again
