Parenting and Personalities

Kate Mason, Stories and Strategieskatemasonauthor.com

One thing about being a parent – there’s no shortage of personalities to be surrounded by. Our kids, our partners, our family, our friends. They keep us laughing, growing, loving, and crying. If only they understood us. Like the musician Van Morrison once sang “When people understand what I mean, mama said there will be days like this.” Adelaide Australia’s Kate Mason is an author, wife, and mother who has spent her career studying personality and relationships. In this podcast she looks at why relationships work, and why some don't. She also looks at how our personalities impact our relationships and examines what compels our children, husbands, wives and others to behave the way they do. This podcast is designed to help you understand those you love. A half hour listening on your own, will connect you with the ones you care about the most.

Collaborative & Proactive Solutions for Problem Solving

Your natural solution to this problem would be to go upstream to the factory, make them aware of the problem, and insist or help them fix it. We don’t do that with our children. Instead, to solve behavioural issues we often resort to spankings, detentions, timeouts, suspensions, even restraint. Collaborative & Proactive Solutions is an evidence-based model of psychosocial ...

Learning Real Communication With Your Kids

Imagine your child still hasn’t cleaned their room although you’ve asked them to numerous times. You probably don’t need to imagine. You remind them again, this time in a stronger tone, perhaps even demanding. And they either don’t or they do but the communication between you is strained. Another approach to this might be the “Curiosity Approach.” Your child doesn’t care about a clean room, they care that it’s THEIR room. They care about the ownership of it. So imagine interacting with your chil...
