January 6th is one of them . It is , it's something I constantly , constantly obsess over and think about and have concern about , because I know that , even though the attack on the Capitol on January 6th failed , a coup that goes on . Punish it's just a training exercise .
And you know we talk about the Reichstag fire in Germany that Hitler was held accountable for , but they let him out of prison quite a bit early and because he didn't receive the extensive punishment for his actions that he deserved , he took that as an operative , an opportunity to go even further and take over his country and engage in numerous atrocities and
basically end any semblance of of democracy in Germany over the course of his reign . And you know , look , history isn't there for us to just . It's not there just for us to study , to understand facts and times .
It is there for us to understand the principles and lessons and learn from them so we don't repeat them again , and I'm going to do my best to make sure that America learns from Germany's mistake and we punish our insurrectionists and make sure they're held accountable so that we don't end up losing our democracy in the same fashion .
