Hello, and welcome through Palace Intrie. I'm your host, Mark Francis. Kate Middleton's PR machine appears to be ramping back up as we are seeing Kate's wonderful articles again for the first time in a few months. Royal author Robert Jobson, out promoting his book, told Hello Magazine, she's a person who wants to find solutions and rise above the noise
and the drama. And I think, given what she's gone through, you don't want to waste any time on noise on drama when you've had anything to do with your health. Jobson also emphasize that Kate is making her health and family her top priorities and isn't rushing back into her royal duties. That takes quite a lot of courage, because you're in a very alienated world. But I think she
realized that she only has one shot at this. She's got three young children and they have to come first, so she's taking advantage of time she won't get back with her kids. Jobs and spork appears to have restated the entire Kate's wonderful industry. Vanity Fair tells us Kate Middleton and Prince William went full Grease with a dance
number at their twenty eleven wedding. In that excerpt from Jobson's book, William and Kate actually lip synced to a song from the nineteen seventy eight movie Grease at their Buckingham Palace reception. They stood holding hands in the middle of the dance floor, grinning. Then suddenly the opening bars of the song You're the One that I Want from
the musical Grease came booming out. William and Catherine then began dancing around, pointing at each other and mouthing the words with the style of the lead characters Danny and Sandy. It brought the house down Before that, Jobs and tells us Kate let her hair down during her bachelorette party by delivering a rendition of English pop star Sheryl Coles Fight for This Love. According to Jobs and Kate dressed up in a figure hugging bodysuit and gave an exaggerated
impersonation of the early orts singer. Even Middleton's future husband, Prince William, caught wind of the show and spilled Middleton's secret to Cole, who performed at Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee in twenty twelve. Did you know that you've got a bit of competition with him, asked Cole at the time. William wasn't the only one to reveal Kate's impersonation to the singer. Pepper and James Middleton also tattled on Kate,
sharing details of the performance with Cole. Kate even learned the dance routine and was step perfect by all accounts, as her sister Pepper and brother James also came over and told me all about it. Counted It Jobson's book. Kate also met her hero, Cole told Closer that the princess was easy to get along with. Per Jobson, we had this amazing moment, Cole said, she's so ordinary. I mean, obviously she isn't because she's a princess, but she's easy
to get along with. William's bachelor party was much less eventful. According to Jobson's book, the prince enjoyed a low key event with twenty of his close friends. The group went clay pigeon shooting before going surfing during a weekend at a Devon mansion named Harland Abbey. On slow news days, the press will often dust off old stories such as this one, which will be familiar to Palace intrigue listeners,
this time with some new sprinkles from Jobson. In two thousand and eight, Kate sent an email to her friends requesting they start calling her by her full name, Katherine. This request, Jobs and Notes only added to the speculation that Prince William was planning to propose. Jobson cites a two thousand and eight article by Sunday Express columnist Adam Helliker, who disclosed that Kate had written a humorous email to her close friends about her preference for being called Katherine.
Helka wrote, I hear that in the past few weeks, the former accessories buyer has quietly informed friends that she would like to drop the informal Kate and in future, wishes to be known by her full name, Katherine. The debate over what to call Kate didn't end there. In his twenty twenty three memoir Spare, Prince Harry shared an
anecdote about her name. He wrote that King Charles once asked Kate to consider changing the spelling of her first name to Katherine, with a K instead of a C. Harry explained that this was because there were already two royal ciphers with the letter C for Charles and Camilla. Make it Katherine with a K. They suggested. Separate from the jobs and book, The pr machine is letkters know
of Kate's summer plans. The Daily Beast reports the couple are aiming to be in boal Moral, either for the opening of the grouse shooting season on August twelfth or shortly thereafter. According to a friend sourced by the Beast, Kate has been exceptionally open and honest about her health, making two appearances before the summer break at Wimbledon and trooping the Color was a clear signal that she is doing well. That is what we are hearing privately as well.
It's not over, but there is lots of optimism, lots of positivity. It's obviously still an incredibly worrying time, but all the signs are there that her cancer treatment, which is ongoing, is progressing well and inside added, there's still nothing in her diary. My understanding is that people are going to have to get used to seeing a lot less of Kate. The priority for her now is going to be a family and children. The youngest of those kids,
Louis is only six. Like a lot of people who have a brush with mortality, Kate is going to prioritize the things that mattered her from now on. In her case, that means her kids. Note how every source is getting the message out that Kate has focused on her kids, which appears to be a coordinated message. We asked our inside a Deep Crown about that. Who tells palace intrigue. When you see multiple sources suddenly singing from the same hymn sheet, it's a clear sign that the Palace pr
machine is in full swing. These unofficial messages are typically disseminated through a carefully curated network of royal correspondence and trusted journalists. The Palace will subtly brief these individuals, often through intermediaries, providing just enough information to shape the narrative without appearing to do so directly. It's a delicate dance. Really, the Palace maintains plausible deniability while still controlling the story. The aim here is clear to paint a picture of
a devoted mother prioritizing her family during her recovery. It's a relatable image that garners public sympathy and understanding by flooding the media with these stories, they're effectively setting the tone for how Kate's absence should be perceived. It's pr one oh one, and I must say they're rather good at it. Meanwhile, the Daily Beast's source added, Charles's doing a magnificent job fighting his cancer, but it is still unwell.
It is being fantastically well managed to give the impression that everything is fine, but it is noticeable to those of us who are aware of such things that the engagements are shorter and carefully scheduled. For example, he sometimes arrives by helicopter at the last minute, before being choppered away and presumably collapsing in an armchair at home. Charles
cancer hasn't gone away. The Palace have said as much, and to be brutally honest, the one's popular notion that he will live to a similar age as his mother ninety four or father ninety nine is now less wide spread. I think that has very much focused Kate's mind on the fact that there may only be a few years of freedom left. What does she want to do with him? Nurture her kids and try her best to equip them for the life ahead. Palace intrig will be right back.
The Daily Beast report mentions that the royals were expected to descend on Moral en Mass for the opening of the grouse shooting season on August twelfth, known colloquially as the Glorious at twelfth. They source a friend of the royals who tells the Beast Bow Moral is basically a very fancy Victorian hunting lodge. That is what you do up there. You go out shooting fish, you have lunch in them. But it is an important ritual for Kat and William to take the children there for the Glorious
twelfth and that is the goal this year. Royal author Phil Dampia told Fabulous there's so much space that they can go off for picnics, go off for a massive long walks and just enjoy the fresh air and the forest up there and enjoy the freedom. They might get pony up there and start doing some horse riding if they're not already. That's the sort of thing they'll get up to. It's all typical traditional royal pursuits that they
can enjoy if they want to. Prince Harry is reportedly considering a return to the UK to attend at the funeral of his uncle Lord Robert Fellows. However, Harry is cautious about making the trip if it might cause too much drama. According to a friend of his, at this point, a temploid article would spend three paragraphs telling you that Harry and William don't get along, and then wildly speculate about whether or not Megan would come. She won't, Let's
move on. Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, demonstrated a warm and formal side of royal protocol when she celebrated in in Great Britain's historic gold medal win and the women's team sprint at the twenty twenty four Paris Olympics. The victory, which also set a world record, prompted Sophie to cheer year and Hager Fellows spectator, a gesture that highlighted the
evolving nature royal behavior. This spontaneous and friendly act contrasted with the more traditional and formal interactions often associated with the British royal family. According to the official guidance from the Royal Family's website, while traditional forms are respect like bows and curtsies at common, there is no obligatory code
of behavior when interacting with royals. This flexibility allows for more casual interactions such as the hug Sophie gave it the Velodrome, reflecting a broader trend within the royal family towards a more approachable and relatable image. Sophie's connection to cycling and her role as the patron of the British Cycling Federation further underscored her emotional investment in the event.
Her history with the sport includes a four hundred and fifty mile cycling challenge for the Duke of Edinburgh Award in twenty sixteen, long before her husband, Prince Edward was conferred the title of Duke of Edinburgh. While Sophie has been actively present at the Paris Olympics, the Prince and Princess of Wales Kate have not yet made an appearance. There have been rumors that Kate would appear, however, the
Games are almost over. It would be a good pr move in advance of the upcoming faux royal tour by you know who that we won't mention today to give you a break, and then you have our email.
