Welcome back guys to Paddle Smash Academy. And today we're gonna talk a little bit about, uh, Padua, right? Padua on the grade grade last week in, uh, Whirlpool Tour. Actually last. Outstanding. Yes. Amazing. So let's go over to semi-finals. Uh, we have Ruis and Momo versus Ko Tapia, and I gotta say, man, there is an unbelievable shot that, that that Koyo does and puts it out out the door. Yes. Uh, it is amazing, you know. Um, so let's, let's check it out.

So we have Momo serving at five four, and it's set point Reese, with a couple Wow. See that block by Tapia hidden that bomb. Look. Look at that defense from Tapia. Unbelievable of the side wall bringing it back. This sky is an amazing defense. And look at this, look at that stretch. And you can see Momo trying to get the ball to hit, uh, uh, play at the end. Yes. Tried to hit it, to hit that point. very few times on the HiTA paddle. Yeah. And Cue wants to jump up just in case. Just in case.

What an amazing, uh, uh, point, you know. What an amazing point to, to finish that set, you know? Yes. And it will be great for you, for you or our viewers and listeners to watch it, how they s strategically play each point, how Momo covers every time on the first point, when he serves CrossCore, how he covers the middle. Power of the court automatically.

That's something that, uh, a lot of our, my students and a, a lot of our amateur players, I see all the time that the living open spaces too much. And this a great way for you guys to watch that point, analyze it, how they cover spaces, how to recover. Balls on how to defend, uh, those shots truly amazing. And you see how, uh, CUO and, and Tapia defend, right? Yes. You see Tapia kind of in the back and you see cuo there kind of in the front waiting for a smash.

Uh, uh, and, and they work really well together. And, you know, Tapio was able to hit some good shots over finally. , uh, shot a, uh, you know, uh, too short of a lob and aqua was there. Ready? And, uh, yeah. One of, one of the things that, uh, we, uh, depending on your level, that's called staggering.

You know, when one player players in the back or one, uh, one player stays in the back and they, they on, on the front, even though when they play a high lob, the player at the front has to have very solid. Hands because they're gonna, they're gonna go out to him because he's the one in the much more, uh, defen, you know, defensive position being so close to the net. Obviously these guys play in a such an amazing level that they can defend those shots. If you're an intermediate or a beginner.

I'd rather for you guys to stay back when you're defending and not run up to the net and play the stagger stagger plane. You know, we're watching World Paddle Tour. Exactly. , but sometimes they see it's not for amateurs. You know, we're trying to imitate the professionals and the way they do, and if you can pay attention to that, they get so close to the net. and they hit those bombs and at them and they're defending, they have like a, you know, captain American Shield.

Yeah. Nothing goes through. It's, it's truly amazing. It is amazing. Yeah. And let's talk a little bit about, uh, Momo how at the end there, he tried to, uh, hit cue with the ball. Yes. So let's talk about that rule. Cause I don't know know if many people know that. No. No. Okay. So in that situation, you know, there was a smash, uh, and, uh, Koya was, you know, taking the ball out, out of the, out of the door, you know, on their side, on, on Momo, uh, Momo's side and.

he was running out, out the door and Momo came out and tried to out the door, tried to hit that ball, and tried to hit Gua with it. And of course, Guo kind of understands it, so he jumps out way, just in case. But if you do that, then it, it, it goes to the I momo's, uh, uh, it's point, right? Yes. So that's something that you, you've, I've seen before, but not really something that happens all the time. Well, let, let, let me give you a different example. In, in tennis.

In tennis, if, let's say, If you serve or if you hit a shot and you get hit in your body before the ball bounces right, you lose the point. So the other player wins. And I have tried it in the past with my tennis background. You know, sometimes when you see I'm serving to one side of the court and the the player. Um, who's in the opposite side is getting closer to the net, so sometimes, or is getting closer too much to the, to the center line. I will, you will try to aim there.

If he gets hit, he will lose the point. Here's a similar rule where both players from one from each team run outside the court. So if, if it's your turn to hit that shot and if you hit the player regardless where he. It's your point. Yeah. That so, so very few times happens because for that situation to be happening, there is very few far in, in between, so Right. But for Momo understanding and trying Oh yeah.

Yeah. If he had made it out of, there's a famous player with Bella doing against another player that, uh, is, he's very close to the referee chair and he hits the other player and he wins the point. Um, but yeah. And the other player forgot about that role, correct. If not, he would've got outta the way. Yes.

. Yes. Because it looks like, you know, you're trying to hit him on purpose and he's like half a feet away from you and you tried to hit him hard, but Yeah, that's the way it's it's your only shot at that point. He's the only option. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, um, you know, uh, you know, you got Koyo on top, your winning, even though Ruiz I think had a great um, you know, tournament. I mean he played really great in this tournament. Look, Ruiz a Momo, I just love that.

You know, I mean, you can, you can feel the chemistry there in between those two players. So sad. Now they're splitting, uh, right. You know, we, we want to be the first ones giving you the bad news, but it's such a great, great, uh, couple for them to split. I mean, they've been getting some positive results. That, which for me, it's a mind blowing thing. You're getting good. Why you were spleen, you know what I mean? It's, it's, uh, you've invested that time already.

Yes. You build that footing. Yeah. Now you're just gonna start all over again. Correct. Um, so well, there's. things that do happen, you know, in, in, in the team. You know, it's, uh, being able to play together and, uh, you know, it fit well together. So who knows what, why the decision was to split up, but they did. Um, 6 4 62. Uh, let's go to the next semi-finals that was Jing and great for us. Very close. Amazing. Doubles. Yeah. . Yeah. Great.

I mean, it was, uh, you know, it, it was, uh, in a tiebreaker. It's the same thing with the, the second set. I believe they were, uh, Chino, they were serving for the set and they, you know, five, four, and they, they got broken back and then they ended up losing seven, five. Right. Right. Uh, You know, what else can we say? Nothing. That's how the ball rolls, you know, at, at the end of the day, at this level, it's one, one or two mistakes. You are 30 lockdown, very difficult to come back.

And that's it. You know, it slips away, you know, you get nervous serving four, you know, five, four to, to win the match. To win the set. And, uh, she slips away. And then the second set, I think they went into a tie break, right? Yep. Time break. Second set was on a tiebreak. But it was stupid. Seven two. Yeah. Seven two. The, the fabric, they make quite a few mistakes, especially Garrido. Garrido is, is very volatile.

He can play an, an unbelievable game, but then, uh, or an unbelievable point, but then he makes so many. in is inconsistent Inco. Yeah. I hundred percent enforce errors that they shouldn't be banking. So do you see 'em shine like, wow. Yes. Yes. And then you'll make some enforce errors. Like what? Yeah. What? That's another couple that I, I think they had good, good chemistry. They were playing great and now they're splitting up again, you know? Yep, yep.

Yeah, we're gonna go over that afterwards. You, yes, we're going after the repairs, you know? So now the finals is Tapio and Cue versus, uh, stupa. Enno. Um, great game. Uh, but there was a great point there, uh, a great defense by cue and Tapia, um, and how Cue was able to stretch and get that ball, you know, incredible in the play. It was unbelievable, but let's watch it. Okay. All right. And pay attention to how tap they defend those shots. Yeah, it's incredible what they.

And, and they wait for the right moment. Look at that shot. Oh my gosh. Oh my God. He just dives for that shot. Yeah. I'm bringing that ball back. Look at that pickup that gets out of the way. Yeah. And uh, he goes for another lob. And look at this one when, uh, Stu tried to try to hit, uh, colo, uh, you'll see it in a couple more plays. Right. Gusta tried to hit him and he's so quick that he gets it back. Yeah. I mean, he saw that coming, you know? Yeah. He pulls the door there too as well.

Yeah. And then, then he, he can anticipate that, you know, unbelievable. That soup's gonna try to hit him. Yeah. You know, fast, but I mean, you're like fast, like two feet away. I mean, and, and to be so quick. It's just, uh, incredible. Amazing. Right. Amazing, amazing play. Um, okay, so, you know, they end up winning, uh, tap and cue. And this is what their third, third or third one? A fourth one. Fourth one. Fourth one. Yep. Wow. This is, uh, so they, they won Abu dha. Chile and Paraguay.

Wow, this is incredible. Let's, incredible. Let's, let's talk a little bit about, um, uh, LAN and, uh, and, um, yes, but, but let me just say something about now, a lot of. , you know, people that are biting their tongues because we didn't bet on Coil and tapio to really do that well, because of the level of we thought in maturity, they prove us all wrong. Yeah. Even I didn't believe in them, you know? And the way they've been winning with such a dominance, I mean, they've been playing.

Intergalactic games. I mean, they've been kicking everyone's butt, but ridiculous. I mean, the final was 6 360 2. Right? It was not even a game. I mean, they, they just got blown off. They dominated. Dominated that game. Dominated completely. Yeah. Uh, same thing on the semifinals. I mean, they're playing right now, they're playing two or three steps about everyone else. For me. I mean, and they, if they keep this level, Within the next month, month and a half, they're gonna be number ones.

Yeah. Well that's the whole key, right? Yes. Keeping up level. They're hungry right now. They're very hungry. And they're young. They're hungry. Yeah. And they're young. Yeah. So let's see if they can be consistent about it. And even, well, consistency. I mean, there weren't four tournaments in a road. I mean, more consistency than that. Well, we're we're talking about something like Le and Golan. Yeah. Or years. Or, or, or, or, Bella. Bella Martin. Because exactly.

Yeah. But, uh, gal and Bella and, um, I'm sorry. Uh, LeBron and Galand, they haven't won three, uh, four tournaments in a road. Only Bella and, and Diaz and Ho Diaz have won four tournaments in a road. So these guys are making his paddle history. Yeah. Um, let's keep on watching because the level they, they play, the way they, they defend and the way they attack. Unreal. I mean, the way Tapia explained, said by, He, by far right now, he's the best player in the circuit by far.

Such a great defense. Oh my god. Defense on offense and, and the things he does and the way they read the game. Yeah. It's, it's, it's unique. It's incredible. It's, it's amazing to watch. They work very well together. Yes. You know, without a doubt. They work. They, they, they, they, They mesh really well. They mesh the, the, the chemistry's there. They know each other so well. Yeah. Well, let's see. Yeah, yeah. Well, I, we'll see in the future, you know, they're doing really well.

I mean, uh, let's see when they have some losses or not playing too well. No, let's see how they, they, they come back from that. Yeah. You know, so, uh, but right now they're, Unbelievable. I, I Incredible. Yep. Incredible. See in the future. Yeah. Love paddle, for sure. Um, okay, so let's talk a little bit about Le LeBron and Golan. Um, you know, I think a few weeks ago, uh, they couldn't play Argentina because the Golan was, was injured.

And now, you know, um, uh, Le had to, you know, uh, stop playing or forfeit, uh, in one of the games in the second set, uh, I believe in the quarter finals and due to a injury in his arms. So now they're gonna, Uh, the next, the next game in Spain. Correct. So, um, yeah, I mean, we, we don't know maybe next couple of tournaments, uh, there are, there's uh, there rail tournament coming up. Then, uh, I think there's a couple of, uh, premier paddle tour tournaments. So, love guys.

At the end of the day, at this, at this high level, it's all about gray paddle. Stay in shape. Yeah. And don't get injured. And you have to have all three. You can't have either or. So, um, then you need to find that perfect balance. And that's why, you know, the warmups and the recoveries are so important. These guys are getting, you know, back to back tournaments. I mean, uh, they're constant playing every day in four weeks, they, they won four tournaments. So it's week, week in, week out.

First week, no. Abu Dhabi. They were Abu Dhabi. They came to Lak. They want to do Abu Dhabi Lak. The next week, following week was Chile. Following week was Pua. I mean, you don't stop playing. I mean, it's just in incredible how your, uh, physical and mental stamina needs to stay up to a hundred percent every single time. Yeah. And when you start breaking down, you bring your partner down with you. So that's. working as a team and staying healthy. Um, it's crucial.

And it's one of the one few, few game, few sports that, that you have that Exactly. You're constantly playing, you know, um, usually have more breaks. Yeah. You know, it's true. Uh, but you're constantly playing. I mean, there's well over 30 tournaments and just a world pedal tour. Yeah. Right. And then you have a premier path. Correct. Once you're constantly playing at a high level, I mean, you have to be in great shape. Correct. You know?

Um, okay, so let's talk about, um, the new pairs, right? Yes. Matter why everyone is exciting, super exciting. Everybody's gonna be, you know, changing and, and, and, you know, applying their, their new partner. Yes. So, obviously I think the first one I think we know about this Paquito Navarro. Um, I. , that's gonna be, I think they're doing do well, I think do better than the, they both have a good positive, uh, you know, yeah. Energy coming out of him. And I love Jingo. I love how he plays.

And I, I, same thing with Paquito. Yeah. So we'll see if, if they're able to play well together. I mean, the, the, we gotta see if they, they're a good match with each other. I mean, I, you know, uh, Paquito, it's, it's a very tough compar competitor. Uh, it's tough to be your, you know, next to you. Um, he's very, , he's pushing you to the max every single time. Mm-hmm. , some players like it, some other players they don't. So that's why they crash. Mm-hmm.

, uh, and when you, when you don't have that chemistry, it's very difficult to win games. So we'll see what's gonna happen. It's gonna be interesting, you know, he, he's an emotional player. Yes. Uh, and, and the good thing, yeah, the good thing that is happening now, all these guys, all these new couples, they have a week or a week and a half, I think it's almost two weeks for them to train with each other and get to know each other. Because one of the things is for you to.

, uh, partners, you know, from one, one week to the next. So you don't have time really to practice and to get to know each other, right? Because here, this, it is a team, a team plan. You know, you're playing with your partner, right? If you don't really know each other, how. How to do plays, how to talk to each other, how to defend, how to attack at the same time. Uh, it's very difficult to, there's gonna be too many errors. Too many enforce errors.

Yes. You have to develop that chemistry before you walk into the court. Right. So Vato will be amazing. No. Um, um, I wanna see how EO now plays with Alex Ruiz. Yeah. I think that's gonna be a good chemistry too. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. All right. I think they're, they're both, uh, we know that Alex is left-handed and you know, Teo is right-handed. Alex is gonna play on the forehead. Tell you on the, on the backhand side. So that's gonna be very, very interesting.

I mean, that's gonna be one of the couples more exciting couples to watch. To watch. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yep. And then you have Momo, uh, Gonzalez and Mike. And Mike Jag wants, yeah. So, uh, I think, yeah, I like Momo and, and I like Yogos. I think that should work we'll. We'll see me personally, I mean, I think Janus will bring with Alex. Momo's level went up, I think with Mike Janks. I don't know if he has the experience of Alex. . That's my personal opinion, but we'll see how it goes.

I mean, two young guys, uh, ready to, you know, que was playing well with Alexa Royal. Mm-hmm. , uh, but we'll see what happens, you know? Yeah. And then we have a Lamperti playing with, uh, li back, you know, li back. Yes. Now the, the, the Super P Vest, uh, 2.0. Li back and a burger. Yes. Berger, uh, and, and li back. They're splitting after after ua. And that's because they have to right? In order to play that? Exactly.

Because of the point situation, if they stay together, their ranking is not high enough, so they have to play pre, uh, previous. Now by them pairing with higher ranking players, they go into the main draw, so that's very positive. Lamperti 44 years old, le back 17. It's granddad and, and grandson, he know sort of type of thing. But I think for Li Levi, it's gonna be great because he's gonna be learning so much from, of course, from , from, uh, LAER, from LA party of course. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Yeah. And then the other, uh, super people, Leos going with, uh, uh, Javi Rico. Javi Rico. Okay. So j it's a little bit young. And we'll see how that couple goes. I'm, I'm, they're gonna do, they're gonna be hitting quite a few by three, some by fours. Yeah. But we'll see how mentally. They stay strong together. I love the way j Ricos plays, I mean very explosive and all that. Uh, but we'll see. Hopefully they will do well. So it's LAO two, so yeah, it's Leo two.

Yeah. Okay, so now we got Garrido and uh, John Sands. Yes. So, um, uh, I'm not sure I, I, we'll see. I, I mean, I like Gordo with, um, with gto. Yeah. I mean, I really like that. Yeah. I was hoping they were gonna go for, you know, for, you know. Yeah. You know, for the whole year at least. Yeah. So, we'll, we'll see how, and I don't know who decided to go where, you know, so who calls who, but something that, um, I dunno if you guys watched the semi-finals or not.

And, and, and Garridos time making, I mean, body language is very important when you're playing. You know, you have to be very, you know, because you communicate your battle language to the opponents and to your partner. Mm-hmm. and that body language of Chito, when Garrido was making these many enforce errors, you seen, I saw it. He, he was, he was upset. Yeah. He was upset and he was down and, and, uh, yeah.

Instead of, you know, pushing your partner to, to get better and all that, because he made quite a, Unbelievable on four errors, Scott, even though on the last point of the, of the, uh, of the match point. Yeah, yeah, that too. Yeah. You know, it was a double hit on, on a Viv that you shouldn't even making, never making at that level. Yeah. And Chiota Chiota is usually not like that. Exactly. It's always positive and on. Yeah. But it's, you know, and I said this before, is goza risks a lot.

Yeah. You know, you know, you need to know. Shot to take, want to be defensive, when to be your offensive you, you know? And sometimes you want to take that risk and you shouldn't. You should just get it back in the game. Play defensive until another opportunity comes. Correct. And Gorda takes too. Too much. Too much. Yes. Yes. I think the execution of the right shot at the right time. It's crucial for any paddle player at any level.

You have to know what shot to hit, and that's why it's so important for you guys to take lessons and, and go to clinics and all that because it's, you can't hit the same shot every single time because you gotta play with the score. You get to play with your partners, the situation of the match, the situation of the point, and executing, and you see it at all levels. Executing the right shot at the right. At the right moment, it's crucial for you to start winning matches. Yeah. Without a doubt.

Yeah. Okay. So those are the, those are the changes. Um, and now, uh, we're gonna be playing in Spain, right? Correct. So we'll see how, how it goes if we're not gonna have le and gal lamp playing there. But, uh, we, we'll see if, if Stupa and Dno meet, um, a Cuo and Tapia again. Yeah. You know, know, look, I mean, unbelievable plane, but honestly, I mean, they made it to the finals. Uh, I think I, I think so too. Uh, or Chile. I don't know, one of those.

They make it there, but now they're running into this mega, super unbelievable intergalactic couple, you know, cold coy on Tapia that. There's nothing they can do. I mean, honestly, I mean, there was, it was no way they couldn't get a point out of them. I mean, from the, from the first ball. I mean, they were, there was just a wall, the big wall of China. Yeah.
