Hello, and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm Kate Torbert and I'm joined by my sisters and journalists Amy and Sophie. Now we're recording this episode on a public holiday, and we really wanted to get something out there, so we've decided to do a Q and A. And there's a lot of juicy questions and there's some big news that we first need to cover. Yet, we have been receiving a lot of questions about what is going
on with Olivia Rogers. So she is a former Miss Universe for those who aren't aware, So basically she hasn't been online for a couple of weeks. She's been very absent, which has raised a lot of suspicion as to what is going on. So she put out a statement a couple of days ago. She wrote, I know I've been quite on here recently. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to me and checked in. I'm not quite ready to share what's been going on just yet, and I might still be quite on here for the next
little while. I'll still be posting here and there, and so appreciate your support. Lots of love live so over the weekend, Olivia very so utterly changed her last name back to her maiden name on Instagram. So when she married Justin back in February, she changed her last name to McKean. Now, you were probably the first person to notice this, or I got a message from you very
early on Saturday. So on what was actually Sunday. So on Sunday morning, I was browsing Instagram and I was actually looking for some wedding makeup inspo, and of course Olivia looked absolutely stuning on your wedding day. So I was having a look at her Instagram to try and I remember there was like a before and after of her makeup, and I saw that it said Olivia mckinn and I was kind of wondering what was going on with her after that statement, A lot of there was
a lot of speculation out there. I then, probably an hour later, then revisited her page and noticed that it had been changed back to Olivia Rodgers. And earlier in the week she'd also unpinned the wedding photos, and a lot of people were sort of speculating about that. I honestly thought nothing of it. Well, I thought nothing of it because they recently went to New York. I think it was back in August. They looked like they had the time of their lives and they are such a
beautiful couple. They started in twenty eighteen when they first met, they seem to instantly hit it off. We've actually been involved in a shoot where Olivia and her husband were filming for Burnside Village and they just were beautiful together. They seemed like. This has shocked me to my core. This is true, and so we're obviously recording this on Monday, and it's just come out The Herald Sun and have reported Olivia Molly Rodgers has split from her husband Justin
McKean after tying they're not earlier this year. Now. I clicked on this article immediately thinking that maybe Olivia has come out and confirmed the split, but there's been nothing of the sort. Well, it's bizarre, and I was assuming that they would have mentioned something about Ossie influencer updates
as recent posts. So last night I was pretty shocked because, as I said, I'd noticed the name change, but morally I didn't really want to comment on it because I think that that's Olivia's news to report on and to share it, particularly because it seems like it's very raw
at the moment. However, obviously that Instagram account was receiving a lot of dms from people that also noticed the name change, so she reported that well, she basically did a screenshot saying about the name change, and she also shared that some super sleuths had come across Olivia's Spotify list and had noticed that she started adding a lot of breakup songs like Adele Miley Cyrus slide Away, So
people are putting two and two together. But this article didn't mention any of that, and they didn't quote anyone. So I am assuming from a pr perspective that maybe Olivia's manager has actually confirmed the news of the record, but just does not want to provide any further comment on it. Also, no shade to influence updates, because we were really unsure whether to post something as well. And I think it's almost you're kind of waiting for someone to post about it because we were getting so many
messages about it. There's obviously a lot of interest because it is somewhat of a public relationship. She got married in February. I mean, I know, we did a big segment on Olivia's wedding because it was so beautiful and she had waited so long to get married. So I think we're all feeling really devastated for her. They're all invested in this relationship, and Olivia is one of those people that just comes across as so kind and caring, and I feel like we're all worried about what's happening.
I really feel for Olivia, and I also think there's extra interest because Olivia and Justin have been involved in different fashion campaigns. They're very much seen as a couple and they're very much a Melbourne power. And I think the thing is that you see all of these loved up, perfect images because they're both stunning people on Instagram, and it does really show that, you know, you can't believe everything that is on Instagram. I think it's one of
those light bulb moments. I know there's a lot of talk about, oh, if your relationship is online, it mustn't be that great, and of course there are instances where that is not true. But I did really feel that because I mean, you look at their lives and they've just come back from the US on this amazing trip that's like jealous of. And there's obviously all these things going on that no one knew about, so and they've got to just be kind to people as well. And
their wedding looked incredible as well. You're talking about picture perfect wedding. If you saw those two, they're just a picture perfect bride and groom. Can I just going back to these media reports though, as you say, I don't actually know how they can publish this as fact. We're obviously speculating at the moment because we all don't know exactly what has happened until Olivia or justin come out and say something. Obviously it's not looking great at the moment.
It's tip them off. You can take someone off, but you still have to say, like there's speculation. Even the Daily Mail didn't report it as fact, but the Herald Son and the advertisers they've obviously got a friend of hers or a friend manager. I think that they would say a source. A source says they have no because I'm not going off much or they're going off is the name. They're hardly going to get suit decimation if they know, they would have found out from a very
reputable source. That this is what's going on. And I think we will probably hear a statement from Olivia in a couple of days time, when she's had a bit more time to process it, because as you can imagine she's having to go through, you'll assume a lot at the moment, and it would be very hard to be processing this all in the public eye. It's interesting wording though, as well. Olivia has has split from her husband, as
if she's made the decision to break up. I mean, she is the more famous person, though I don't know the thing is, I mean, I don't want to speculate, which is exactly what I'm doing here, but the songs that she added to her playlist, and also the fact that she's changed her name back, I would assume it feels like something bad it has happened to her. I hate the fact that people have found her playlist, though, I mean it's you know, obviously, we're all human, we
all want to know what's happening. But can you imagine you're going through this potentially shock split and you're just trying to get over it by listening to music, and you kind of never want people to see what you're listening to. It's be embarrassed she deleted it because I saw I google it. I looked it up on Spotify after to see how easy it was to look at and it had gone well. I just really hope that
Olivia is doing okay. Again, Like, we were very torn whether to even talk about this, but since it hit the mainstream media and we are Influencer podcast, we felt we needed to touch on it. We just hope she's okay. I just feel so sorry for her and what she's going through at the moment, and also for Justin. We don't know exactly what's gone on, so her heart goes out to both of them at the moment. It's a
very tough thing to navigate, particularly in the public eye. Now, just moving on to another influencer question that's been sent in. Someone's asked, has Mitch Third deleted his Instagram account? I looked this up as soon as this message came in. His Instagram account does appear to be down, but his TikTok is up, which is interesting. I wonder if him deleting his Instagram account has anything to do with the court case that is going on between him and his
ex girlfriend, Tyliescaines. I wonder if there is incriminating posts on their Well, I mean, you just removed the post, wouldn't you. But I thought the same thing, Sophie. It must have something to do with that that case going on. I mean, he is actually getting quite a lot of attraction on TikTok. He seems to be investing more time on there. He's very much in that sort of motivational career base space. So it'll be interesting to see if it does go up. I'm sure it'll go up sometime soon.
He's probably just deactivated it for a short period of time. Now. There's another question that says, what are your favorite books? And I feel like, Kate, this has been designed for you. Well, so I feel like I'm kind of above everyone at the moment because I'm actually reading a book. And we were joking that there's these adult one arts, and I think people who read books kind of think they're better than everyone. And I give them credit for it because
they kind of are better. They kind of are, you know, taking that time out of your day to read and enjoy yourself and expand your mind. So I am currently reading The Palace Papers, and I've got to admit I haven't read a book for probably a few years, so you screwed me over. We borrowed this book from our lovely hairdresser and she was giving it to me to read, and I accidentally left it at your house and now I have forgot about it now, Kate, what is it about?
For those who haven't heard of the Palace Papers? So it's from Tina Brown and she it's basically just to tell all about behind the scenes of the royal family and it is so good. I'm halfway through it. I mean, I think it's been out for quite a while. Now I'm late to the bandwagon. But I feel like I used to love reading growing up, so if and I were obsessed with Harry Potter. I read Harry Potter the series probably five or six times, and I feel like JK.
Rowling almost ruined other books for me because nothing that I read could ever compare to Harry Potter. But now that I'm back into reading, I would love some recommendations and what to read next. This is a really embarrassing admission, but I was such a big Harry Potter fan, as you said, Kate, but I never finished the last book. It was shit. I can see why you finished it because it wasn't at the school. And then our beautiful cat got killed whilst I was reading it. I just
didn't want to pick it up after that. You know what, something traumatic happens and you don't want to go back into the he got run over by a car. You just sounded like he got killed in a very dramatic way. What traumatic? Do you know? Do you know what it is? It's the same with me in some TV shows, like, for instance, Love Ireland. This is just a very love isolent. I watched the last few episodes because I have this thing of being upset that it's ended. I weaned myself
off it. I'm like, well, maybe I'll watch it next week. On the topic of Love Island, someone did ask who we're still following from the show, and the only people I followed because I did watch the finale. I followed the two were the winner and the runner up. So I'm still following Ekin Suit and Davia Day, also Gemma and Luca. I have following Andrew and Tasha. I've actually even watched some of Tash and Andrew's blogs. Are they good? Because I've been watching Tasha's Sorry not Tash. I've been
watching Gemma's vlogs. Yeah, and just she's kind of struggling. They're no Molly May. I feel like Molly May just makes it look so effortless and you've really got to be good at vlogging. Tash was okay, it was I don't know, It's just weird to see her and Andrew so loved up because they seem to be on the rocks the whole time during the show. I've got a
vlog recommendation off the back of that. Who I watched It was Saffron Barker's vlog, but she had Imagen and Jed staying at her palace of the house that they were those who love. But I'm saying that particular vlog from Saffron Barker was really good, like image and went to the gym with her. Did she have her drink machine as well? She had a Tango frozen machine. I loved how she had to clarify because it was funny the people came to deliver this big slash puffing machine
and there were all like so many plastic cups. She just looked like a complete asshole and she had to be like, oh the disclaimer, Yeah, disclaimer like, I'm gonna reuse the cups. It's like, why do you need plastic cups for it? Anyway? Can't you just use your own? I mean, she obviously wanted them because she's turned her room into a cinema room and that's what they have at this time. I would love to see if she's
actually washing up the plastic cups. I think it's just a disclaimer now people, someone else did ask what our recommendations of our favorite YouTubers. I have to admit I watch a lot of YouTubers that I'm not proud to say that I watched. Like I it's sort of I want another tern for hate watching because it sounds a bit too vicious, But I watched like it's one of the three is to tisc out, like yeah, and it gets so annoyed at me every time I watch YouTube.
I just sit there tisking, and He's like, look, if you hate these people so much, will turn it off? Isn't it more like it's not like you hate them, it's more like their lives are so different to you that you find them fascinating. Yeah. Well, last night I've actually finished watching it. With Sophie's recommendation, the other day the Barley Bombing series, which was so good I recommend it on the podcast. Yeah, yeah, no, I said you
recommended it. It was so good, but I needed something light to kind of before I went to bed too. Flicked on Madison Wooly's flog. So I do I am a sneaky watcher of Madison Wooly. I really watched UK. I only really watched UK influencers for some reason for Sarah's Day's Blog. I have been because Sarah's Day hasn't put up a vlog. I've got to say, anytime she drops av loog I instantly watch it out of yeah, just pure entertainment. I have been going back and watching
old Sarah's Day's log. Remember when she was really popular and she had that really cool vibe. She was in a small apartment. They just got went off, sorry before she completely went off and got really rich. Yeah, it was that sort of like she was building her career. I really like that time in Sarah's life. Now, on the topic of Sarah's Day, someone did ask us, who
do you think is Australia's most problematic influencer. I personally think it is Sarah's Day because she has so many followers, and it is a particular demographic, so it's very young girls. And I think she has the ability to suck people in because she is initially very likable, Like I really
liked her to begin with. I bought a lot of her products, and I think that's how she then starts pushing her diet message and you kind of take her on board because she has marketed herself as you know, having her followers are her sissies and her friends, so you kind of then take on her diet advice, which has been very problematic over the years. I would have to say Sophie Kaisha is also that's another problematic her the way that she conducted herself during Lockdown, constantly breaking
Lockdown rules. Obviously Chloe Zepp as well mea plus, but she's probably not to this. You know, she doesn't have a million follows. What about Emmy Lou because everybody slams us. I feel like there's a there's a big portion of people who hate Emmy Lou. They always get into our comments and say, you haven't spoken about it, but should we chat about her? Because I have been trying to watch for her to do something. I've been on Alert,
but all she does is brooke shit. So it's kind of hard because it's just ad ad our stories are so long, like you go on her Instagram and it's like these tiny little dots. And then whenever we say anything about Emmy Lou there's a lot of people that really like her. And the thing is our podcast is very newsworthy, so we try and report on things that are happening. So if she does something and we miss it, please tell us, because we're happy to cover on the show.
But we're not going to troll back through like six years ago when she did something. Yeah, unless we do a deep dive. But yeah, well, we are thinking of doing some deep dive episodes over the holiday period at the end of the year. Now someone's asked, who is your ultimate guest to interview? And will you do more interviews? And I know we've spoken about this in the past, but I actually have a new set of guests that I would love to have on a new obsession. Who
is it? It's said there's Sam from the Sam and Billy Show. Are you you're obsessed with them? Now? I've been telling you to listen to that po because for ages and you finally listen to and now we're just talking Sam and Billy's boys. They're from Tawi or Towey or however you say it. It's like the most relaxing podcast. They literally just it's like you're eaves dropping into a
phone conversation. Don't you feel like you've been transported back to twenty twelve though, because there's some problematic things that they do say about diets, and I'm like, how did this get through? But it's more like they're so lovable. They just seem a bit clueless. It's not coming from a nasty thing, it's just coming from I don't know, just being a bit clueless. Yeah, I don't think this comes as a shock. But my dream guests would be
Molly May. But it's funny because I don't really like doing interviews with people that I care about because I get really nervous. I just I just get Sandy, and I sees that I can't talk to people that I think are cool. You'll also just be like you'll have the questions in front of you and you'll just ask them like just as the written, what is your faith?
I can't be cool with them. And I think I think if I was in person, but obviously Molly May is not going to come to our humble studio, sofas his issue is, well, where if she meets somebody that she thinks is really cool, you sees up as well. I can't, I just can't talk. I just get really, really nervous. In terms of Australian sort of influential people, if that is who we're choosing from, I would really like to interview Mia Friedman. I have so much respect
for her. I love her and I've listened to so many podcast interviews with her on I feel like I know her, so that would be a good one. But if it was like on the international stage, obviously Taylor Swift oh yeah, also was gonna say Ouzzie influencers. I'd love to have Michael Finch on, Yes, he just has such an og and even someone like Shiny Grimman would be hilarious, but she's blocked us on Instagram, so I
don't think that's happening. I would love to have Sarah's Day on as well, in the sense of if you had the balls to ask the tough questions like why the fuck are you doing this? The thing with Sarah's Day is sofa and I have met her in person through a work thing, and she is so bubbly and nice and though you can see why she's popular online and why she captivates audiences. So those kind of interviews would be hard. If someone's been so I said, you're like,
why are you doing? Yeah, But that's about being a journalist. It isn't being able to ask the tough questions it would be It would sort of like be better if it was a current affair type investigation. Sorry, not a current affair, I mean like sixty minutes or something like the Bell Gibson thing, Like I would love to do something like that on influences, where it's like a full on investigation. Now off the topic of influences just for a second. We actually got a lot of questions, surprisingly
about wedding updates. So on Friday, I actually picked up my wedding dress, which was really exciting. All the dresses I had tried on previously were too big, so I had all the like pegs and clamps on them, and it's really hard to see what it actually looks like on you. So I was so exciting to actually try the dress on in the real size. It looked amazing. Sophie came in late, and you like gasped when you. Sophie did it good. Sophie was good at putting that off.
Oh you look, I wasn't putting it on. You looked absolutely stunning, like I was. You know, I did gasp. I was sort of blown away. It was sort of the reaction that I should have been there earlier, because I felt like you needed the tires pump up. Yeah. Poor Mum and Amy were a little bit distracted because Mum is a school teacher and it was the last day of term and she had rushed kindly down to see my dress, but she lost her phone in the process. So Amy and Mum were trying to find Mum's phone
and she lost her voice. To be fair, I was having to translate. She like, it looks lovely. I think there's some moms that are really emotional and will like cry when you come out, But then our mum isn't one of those moments. She's very supportive. She's a bit like us. Because I was telling Brandon, He's like, what's happened to you during childhood? Because I get really embarrassed in those moments, like I don't really want to be the center of attention and like come out and like
twelve around. But I wish I was like, do you want That's what I was saying to you. So do you want to go and look for bridal dresses like by ourselves or it's like together or do you want separately people to come here. I don't know. I feel like you almost do have to go separately though, because I feel like it's a bit of a freak show if you get to and then you have to all have the same conversation unless you go. So I went to the Bride Lab, which is on King William Roe.
This is not an ad. I definitely paid full price, but it was just a really good experience. See, I just I've spotted one there. I'm the sort of person that's like, yeah, see I'm not that sold on that dress that you like, Okay, that's what I want to try it on. Yeah, of course if I tried Kate tried it on and it looked nice on her, I'm glad for you. We did get a question whether we're doing any wedding collaborations. I suppose because we have been
talking about our wedding so much. Well, Unfortunately, everything of mine is locked in and I haven't I'm not doing a collaboration. But I did have a brand reach out and offer to let us try on some bridesmaid's dresses, which was so lovely and unexpected. I was like, sure, but I'm just waiting on whether Amy and Sophie and pit my bridesmaids have given it the thumbs up. But I'm just waiting for my best friend Owen to say
yep and then yay or nay, yeah or name. But yeah, they're really nice and I was very lucky with that. But everything else I and my partner have paid for, as well as our parents. So now what about you, sof have you got any updates for your wedding? Yeah? Well everyone, well hold on. I hope that my bridesmen aren't listening to this. I'm sure that they doubt it. Our cousins are not listening. They've got friends who listens,
So if you're friends and please don't tell them. But yeah, so basically every all of my bridesmaids or bridal party are coming on the weekend to come and check out my ventus this weekend. Yeah, so that's this sekend on Sunday, and it's so funny because for months now, I've been creating these bridesmaids boxes. And it's funny because I've been pumping the watch to you guys so much, and i keep looking in them and I'm like, it's not much else I'm excited, like I'm stressing. I feel like they're
not very impressive. Does anyone this is a throwback to the TV show Absolutely Fabulous. There's this hilarious scene where I think it's Patsy goes into the hospital with Eddie or one of the pr women and it's like, oh, I've just got a box of some lovely things and
it was just like wrapping paper. That's what I feel like, which is the Instagram Well, that's what I feel like because I've been trying to get the right box and the right you know, bows and everything else, and then I'm like when I take everything out, I'm like, is everyone gon think that this is really cheap? I will
be sharing on Instagram so you have to. Well. I was so inspired because if any other brides which that's a weird, are listening, go on TikTok and type in bridesmaid proposal boxes because that's what I've been getting all of my inspo from and I want to do one of those real wanky videos a poster on Outspoken after you guys have been asked, so I don't ruin the surprise. I've actually purchased my gift to give my I can't wait to see what this is. It's going to be
something so obscure. It's like a really random one. Because I was looking up and I was looking at all these different bridal things. Because Kate, you gave us the pajamas, I just don't customized. I want to do the pajamas, but I don't know the theme of my wedding yet, so I didn't want to rush in with it. And then I was thinking, well, so fis doing some kind of box thing, and I felt like I just felt like the buying the boxes itself would be quite expensive.
I want you guys to know that the boxes and everything of the wrapping is expense. What do we do with the boxes after? Like I suppose I've got to keep that memory operations anyway, So I have purchased something for my bridesmaids. I'm very excited to the clue is that it's coming from an international Are you are you also having brides man or? Is that just me? I haven't I actually I haven't decided exactly what I'm doing, So yeah, I don't know who I'm having. You have
to wait and see. I mean, I'm assumed Kate. Now it's funny. Brandon was like, also, are you having Kate as your maid of honor? And I was like, why do you say? I think he thinks that you've got me because I'm always telling him about your hen's party and stuff. I'm like, no, we're both you know, not to ruin the surprise on Sunday, but you're both my maid of honors? Oh how lovely? Wouldn't it be awkward
that you know? I asked both of you. Wouldn't have been awkward If Sophie's a selected I just ask Gamy. I mean, I do work with her and we do spend all day, but who's going to plan a better I have a lot of penis par Is that what Amy's in charge of for my heads stuff? If that's if that's what you want? Do you know what's hilarious?
I'm a bridesmaid for my soon to be sister in law's wedding, and me and the bridesmaids were trying to plants and stuff, and I'm like, is it kind of a penis straw kind of event or is it more classy?
And one of the other bridesmaids is like the venue she selected actually banned anything venue Beach Road Wies, so not even like the store was Well, I think we're going to have the straws back at the accommodation, so I will have to look into that, Sophie Kate's I'm sure I haven't even said that we're having a Hens party there. We're just doing a lunch. I'm actually freaking out because that is only a few weeks away, and I feel like there's a lot of ordering of decorations.
Have a dressed got the invites? I know I was thure to take them out now, I don't know. Have I given any updates on my wedding. I currently spoke about donkeys and fireworks, but other than that, yeah, so oh, I supposed to give a little update because I was actually telling Dale's sister about it. So yes, really want the beer donkeys. So it's all flower donkeys or whatever said donkeys that you they have a saddle on them and there's you can put you don't ride or no,
but that's what they're doing. They're wandering around and you take a beat. So basically, yeah, so when you're getting married, they're at the ceremony, so you can have photos with them, and then guests can go over and pat them, and you also get I've seen that there's a lama and the lama has like a chloral sort of thing around its neck and you have photos with them. Well, these are like really short, like little small donkeys and hang on, Well they're called donkeys on the website, but it's a
mule different to a donkey. I think it is. I don't know. And now we're sang doing really dumb if it sounds, are you having a Mexican theme or something? Donkey dead? Okay, So what I want for the wedding and whether this happens is very different. So we're going through the planning stages. I really like Marquee weddings, like the gold lights, the sea through Marquee roof, and then I also really want to have an ice cream van at the wedding as a little bit of like a
cool thing. Well, I'm having a Gelati car, I've got jelly to tissmo comin, can I just interject O googled and it says donkeys have long ears, a short thick head, a short maine, thin limbs, and narrow hoofs. Mules share these characteristics with donkeys, but they are larger and taller
than donkeys, So my mistake donkeys are the smaller version. Yeah, Amy, you, I have begged you, begged you so many times now because you've been telling about this marquee wedding, and just put into perspective it's been nine ten months since you've been proposed to and you are still working out the venue. And there is a fantastic podcast called the You and Me Podcast. That was another question. Someone asked if there's any wedding podcast to recommend. I've got another one to recommend.
Please implore, I, please beg you to listen to this podcast because I have a whole episode episode, have a whole episode about marquees and explain why it's more difficult and why it's more expective because Amy keeps saying, Oh, it's gonna be so much cheaper having this marquee. No it's not. I never said that. I said, do you know what it's really expensive to get married at a winery. I think it would be the same price having It's called a dry wedding venue, so it's where you pay
for the to hire the full venue. You get it for like three or four days, and you have different people that stood up. So yeah, you just get on with it. I'm getting stressed, I am anyway. In terms of wedding podcasts, I do also recommend the U and Meat podcast so because they have a lot of great guests on. So they had it's a bit awkward now, but they did have Olivia Rodgers talking about her wedding and Steph Clears Smith and I love those women, so
I really enjoyed hearing about their big days. There's also the Manage My Wedding podcast by a Vett Sitters. This woman just seems like the nicest person I've ever heard speaking on a podcast. She's so cute and she just gives little tips like driving over in the car. I listened to one and she'd answered like three, you know, three questions, and one was about when do you change into your second wedding dress? So it's all very helpful topics. There's so many episodes there that will be able to
help well. We actually had quite a lot of questions, so we're going to break it up into two episodes. So thank you for listening to part one of the episode. We'll be back tomorrow with part two. And if you did enjoy the podcast, it'd be great if you could leave us a five star review because it really helps the show. And if you do want to continue on the conversations, please head to our Facebook community which has outspoken the podcast. Now. This podcast was recorded on the
land of the Ghana people of the Adelaide Planes. We pay respect to elders past and present,
