Episode description

On this episode of Out of the Box, we dive into the songs and stories that have defined the life of Julia Jacklin. This is an artist who’s been honing their craft their entire life - taking classical singing lessons growing up, performing at open mics, forming various bands, and then finally starting the Julia Jacklin project.

You might know her through her albums ‘Don’t Let the Kids Win’ or ‘Crushing’, or the album she released last year - her starkly intimate, and completely universal third LP 'PRE-PLEASURE'. It’s such a beautiful record, and it sees Julia quietly reflect on a lot of defining moments and people in her life.

In this interview, we do the same - walking through her story from childhood to now, and stopping to visit the songs that soundtracked the big moments.

This episode was produced by Tanya Ali, researched by Mary Ventura, and edited by Mia Hull
