Episode description

South Australia’s screen industry is currently experiencing unprecedented growth with the recent wrapping of Mortal Kombat, the state’s biggest ever film production.

It follows recent locally-made hits including Netflix sci-fi I Am Mother, Hotel Mumbai, SBS drama series The Hunting and the Foxtel series Upright, with more hotly-anticipated television series hitting screens this year.

The latest big-budget TV series, Stateless, premiered on 1 March 2020 on ABC. Commissioned by the ABC, the series has been snapped up by NETFLIX, in further testament to the bold storytelling and excellent productions we are producing here.

On this episode of ‘Our State’, CEO of the South Australian Film Corporation Kate Croser, Head of Matchbox SA Kirsty Stark and Heesom Casting’s Angela Heesom talk about the business of film and what the sector brings to South Australia’s economy.
