Episode description

Artlab Australia is an agency within the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and is a recognised leader in the conservation of cultural collections with a national and international reputation for excellence.

The skilled and professional staff at Artlab undertake the conservation and preservation of a wide variety of artefacts, ranging from major artworks and ethnographic items, to archival documents and records, outdoor sculptures and monuments.

In addition to complex and delicate practical treatments, Artlab’s services include disaster preparedness planning and environmental management of collections for display and in storage.

Artlab’s director, Andrew Durham, tells listeners more about what Artlab does and explains how members of the public can find out about the care and condition of their own artworks, historical items and family treasures.
