Episode description

The Australian Water Quality Centre recently secured a three-year contract with Victorian water utility Yarra Valley Water.

From 1 July, the Centre - a business arm of SA Water - will provide sampling, laboratory testing, analysis and reporting services, to support water and wastewater services for more than 1.9 million people in Melbourne.

The AWQC is leading the way nationally with its use of innovative technology. Its scientists are the first in the Australian water industry to use internationally renowned DNA analysing equipment for more efficient and targeted water treatment.

On this episode of ‘Our State’, the Centre’s Senior Manager of Laboratory Services Karen Simpson explains what this new contract means for job creation and for providing opportunity for its scientists to further extend their expertise and bring this knowledge to Adelaide.
