Episode description

New, stronger screening laws for people wanting to work or volunteer with children in South Australia came into effect from 1st of July this year.

The new working with children check replaces the previous State Government child-related screening check. It aligns South Australia with new national standards to increase the safety of children in our communities.

Deputy Chief Executive of Department of Human Services, Lois Boswell and Chief Executive Officer of Volunteering South Australia and North Territory, Evelyn O’Loughlin tell listeners more about what the new legislation means for those people wanting to work or volunteer with children in South Australia.
