Episode description

HomeStart is a South Australian Government organisation that provides home loans for South Australians. The aim is to help more South Australians into home ownership through a range of low deposit loans, shared equity and other measures for people including graduates, seniors and low-income earners.

In this episode, CEO of HomeStart Andrew Mills talks about opportunities to support more people to buy their own home through shared equity, which the Federal and NSW governments are also introducing, particularly those wanting to take the leap from the rising costs of rentals. HomeStart has been providing Shared Equity loans for more than 15 years, and was one of the first lenders in Australia to do so, to help more South Australians into home ownership.

Jen Dunkley, Uniting Communities, also joins Andrew to talk about tips to save for a deposit, what solutions are out there for people considering buying a home, including shared equity and other types of loans, and how potential buyers can access free helpful hints relating to every aspect of buying a house from HomeStart’s Home Buyer Ready program.
