Y'all seriously? Basil is 1 of the easiest herbs to grow the tastiest to eat and has multiple properties and uses when eaten or added to a team. It's a healthy choice of herb. Let's dive into this green green plant. as a witch's ingredient. Let's go.

Hey, everybody. So this is going to be bonus episode for the summer that was requested from the listeners. And we're going to talk all about the magic of basil. So what is basil and why do I find it so magical? Do other people find it so magical? Basil, osmum basilicum, is a bright green Mediterranean herb that's not only edible, but also magical. It's an herb, yet it can be eaten as if it's a vegetable. That's how safe it is, unless you have an allergy, of course.

Basil is easy to grow with lots of sun. Now, if you're in a tropical or subtropical region, you want to do partial sun on that because the sun can scorch it if it gets too hot. It also makes a tasty addition to many, many meals. It has been called holy and also the royal herb for good reason. Other folk names for this herb include sweet basil, the witch's herb, American dittany, and feslian. There are over 150 different varieties of basil grown all over the world.

And it's widely known for its use as an essential oil, as a scent, and also for its flavor. According to the writer and herbalist Rosemary Gladstar, basil is called the royal herb because it was once used in salves prepared for royalty. And according to the writer and late witch Scott Cunningham, witches once drank an infusion of basil leaves before jumping astride their broomsticks and taking off into astral flight.

It's just one of those herbs that's super versatile in the kitchen and at the altar. And you're not going to know that until you use it. So go get you some basil girl. Okay, let's talk about the magical properties and associations of basil. So, right off the bat, some deities that are connected to it are Vishnu and Ursula. Excuse me. It's planet is Mars element is fire. It is a masculine energy.

The magical intentions or uses include love and fidelity, money, protection, purification, and exorcism, otherwise known as banishing or banishment. Medicinal uses. People claim that it is used for nausea and vomiting, to relieve headaches, to soothe stress, and to relieve bug bites and rashes. Let's talk about different ways you can use basil in your practice. First of all, if you're a kitchen witch, basil will be a boon to you. I like to make something called money basil pesto.

Since basil is super tasty and aromatic. Using it in the kitchen, I feel like is a no brainer, but a lot of people forget about it or have never learned about it. So anyway, you can make your own basil pesto specifically with the intention of drawing more money into your life and literally add it on pizza, poultry, pasta Basically anything while you're making the pesto, you're just visualizing that you're drawing in money. Maybe you're saying exactly how much money you need out loud.

Then when you eat it, you're also visualizing dollar signs, money in the bank. Y'all, if you have leftovers of this pesto, continue to eat it for a few days after once a day to amplify your results for a total of three days.

If you really want to kick it up a notch as Emeril used to say, if anybody remembers those days, Basil has money drawing properties, as we've said, so add three leaves to your wallet, to your purse, to your piggy bank, or even line your pockets with it before a big career move, before asking for a promotion or a raise, and then replenish them every once in a while to keep the money coming in. When you combine basil with the herbs rosemary and rue, It packs a huge magical punch.

This Trinity works to remove hexes, to break down barriers, and to cleanse the individual of negative energy and entities that might be attached. You can add it to the ritual bath and submerge entirely to feel the full effects. Now be aware. Some folks are sensitive topically to the herb Roo. So you'll want to test Roo on your skin first. first before you go on and bathe in it. Okay. Just so y'all know. While it's not my favorite way to consume basil, you can make a tea from it.

And that is pretty powerful concoction in its own regard. The bright green color links it to our heart chakra, which is also a bright shade of emerald. Drinking this tea will help align unblock and open your heart for those who might need an emotional boost or cleansing from a bad breakup. It's also known this teeth to relieve headaches, soothe nausea, vomiting as well as help you to de stress. Dried basil leaves also have a lot of uses.

One of the easiest ways to use basil in your magic is to add it to your spell bags, your jars, and your bottles. They're super helpful in money spells, but also for love, fidelity, banishing, and cleansing purposes. You can also add dried basil to your home protection powders and then spread them across the thresholds and your windowsills to deter evil and promote positive vibrations in the home.

I like to replenish my threshold powders once I notice they're being swept away from weather or just, you know, wear and tear or at every full moon. Basil along with rosemary is particularly powerful as a protection powder and very accessible, especially if you're growing these in your garden. Infuse basil into your oils and use this oil to anoint different things like your candles, your doorways and windows, your PowerPoints before meditation.

Apparently, if you grind up basil leaves and make a slight paste. You can apply this directly to a bug bite or rash for relief from the itching. I have not tried that yet, but if y'all try that and it works, please let me know. You can make your own herbal spray using a basil infusion and a little witch hazel. Bottle it and then spray it around your home or your sacred space to cleanse and bring blessings.

This is supposedly also an effective way to banish any ghosts or unwanted entities from your space. Obviously make sure to open a window. Add basil to your salads and sandwiches. Oh my gods, I love adding it to a grilled cheese sandwich with a slice of tomato. You can add it to a front door wash or a floor wash. You can hang it in the kitchen and use. all of its different parts. I mean, I've even, I use the blooms. I use basil seeds.

I also use basil stems and roots and various workings with great effects. You can add basil to butter and then spread it over fresh homemade bread, roasted vegetables, or as a sandwich spread. Where I live, it's actually one of the fairy's favorite offerings. Yes, basil butter with some bread. It's delicious. And if you want to offer it to me, I'm not a fairy, but I will take it at any moment. Last but not least, as Scott Cunningham mentions, you can use it in your flying ointments and rituals.

It is known to have astral properties. So you could try drinking the basil tea before your astral projection, or you can add it to your own homemade flying ointments and anoint your PowerPoints either before bed or before ritual.
