Episode description

This special version of the World Shared Practice Forum features speakers from the monthly International PICU COVID-19 Collaborative meeting hosted by Dr. Jeffrey Burns. This is a cutting-edge worldwide online collaboration in which the latest knowledge and best practices relating to COVID-19 are shared among front-line clinicians in real-time. In this session from August 1, 2020, Dr. Michael Mina outlines the most current COVID-19 testing strategies, best practices for disease surveillance, and greater disease control in the future. He weighs the pros and cons of multiple approaches to disease surveillance, as well as how variables like testing costs may affect future policy decisions and large-scale efforts. The second portion of the PICU COVID-19 International Collaborative focuses on the pediatric scope of COVID-19 and discusses evidence-based therapies and guidelines. This was jointly prepared by Drs. Kathleen Chiotos, Daniele Dona, Julie Fitzgerald, Gang Liu, and Mari Nakamura.
