Episode description

Last week, I published the first episode of a brand new podcast. As part of the run up to that, I shared the upcoming publish info with various industry newsletters, and asked if they'd be willing to share with their readers.

As a result, the first episode received over 1,000 listeners on day one, many of which came from these newsletters. Here's why you should be pitching your podcasting news, and some do's and don'ts around that.

(upbeat music) Last week, I published the first episode of a brand new podcast.

As part of the run-up to that, I shared the upcoming publish info with various industry newsletters and asked if they'd be willing to share with their readers. As a result, the first episode received over a thousand listeners on day one, many of which came from these newsletters. This is why I always recommend sharing key news around your podcast with industry newsletters.

Their readers and subscribers are already invested in the podcasting space, so are more open to finding out more about you and your show. Some key reminders though. It helps to be an existing subscriber to the newsletter to show you're already invested in what they're doing. Make it as easy as possible for them to include by providing soundbites and quotes or takeaways that they can share.

And acknowledge any inclusion you do receive, including a shout out on your next episode, to share your appreciation. Growing a podcast can be hard, but there are a lot of ways to make that job at least a little easier. It's up to you to make sure you're using them effectively. Until the next time, happy podcasting. (clapping) Thanks for listening. If you enjoy one minute podcast tips, Be sure to share with your friends and other podcasters so they can enjoy it too.

Until the next time, happy podcasting. (upbeat music) [ upbeat music ]
