(upbeat music) I've spoken before in an earlier episode about why you need a podcast trailer and how it can help your show, but you also need a strong elevator pitch for your podcast.

If you're unsure what an elevator pitch is, it's essentially a brief way of introducing your podcast and sharing the key points around it in a really succinct manner. Kind of like a trailer, but a trailer's audio, the elevator pitch, is for when you're speaking to people. So why do you need an elevator pitch in the first place? Well, it complements your trailer to offer a strong, cohesive reason to listeners why they should turn into followers.

It also makes it easier to sell to sponsors and advertisers if you can nail down exactly what your podcast is about, so when you're sending your media kit to potential sponsors and advertisers, your email, which essentially can be your elevator pitch, encourages them to open your media kit. It also keeps you, the podcaster, focused on the kind of content you should be publishing to continue attracting listeners and turn them into followers.

And lastly, and maybe most importantly, it really helps you build a strong brand. When listeners start sharing your podcast, they can paraphrase your elevator pitch when recommending your podcast to other people. If you're unsure what should be in your elevator pitch, there's some free templates online, and I'll also link to these in the show notes. so be sure to check them out after the episode. Until the next time, happy podcasting. (upbeat music) Thanks for listening.
