(clapping) You're listening to One Minute Podcast Tips. I'm your host, Danny Brown. And each episode brings you snack-sized tips to be a better podcaster. And if you enjoy the show, you can now support with a one-off donation at oneminutepodcasttips.com/support. And now, this week's episode. At some stage in your podcasting journey, you're gonna be asking yourself, Is it time to upgrade my equipment?
Now this could be microphones, it could be the mixers that you use, it could be the hardware or the software you're recording or editing into, but there will come a time when you'll think do I need to upgrade? And I hate saying this, but it depends. You might already have a great sound, even with the setup you're using at the moment. I've said it before and I'll always say this, you don't need super expensive equipment to get a great sound for your podcast.
The more important thing is making sure your recording environment is really good, so nice soft surroundings, cushions, chairs, whatever you can put in there that takes away the echo from hard walls, bare floors etc. If you do want to upgrade your equipment, start small and get feedback from other podcasters and listeners to see what part of the podcast they enjoy.
Then if you want to upgrade your equipment you'll know which one to focus on. Maybe you do want to upgrade to an XLR mic and use an audio interface for example, or maybe you want to upgrade your interface and improve that side of things. But really you don't need to worry about upgrading your equipment right away if your podcast sounds good and you're happy with the end result. Until the next time, happy podcasting.
