I'm Danny Brown and you're listening to One Minute Podcast Tips, the show that helps you be a better podcaster in just a minute a week. If you want more specific tips just for you and your podcast, check out the Magic Mic membership at oneminutepodcasttips.com/support. And now, this week's episode. When it comes to editing your podcast, it can be tempting to make it too polished, to the point where it doesn't flow as well as it should.
And it's understandable. After all, you want to offer your listeners the best experience you can. But to make each episode as good as it can be, there are three quick changes you can make to help it sound as natural as possible. Number one, don't delete every um. Yes, they can be very conspicuous if there are a lot, but at times they can also be a very natural part of the conversation. So when someone's thinking of a point to make, for example. So leave those ones in.
Number two, don't be too aggressive on removing breaths. Much like ums, they can be conspicuous if someone is particularly breathy when speaking. But if you're too aggressive on this, it can sound choppy because now natural breaths are also removed and you get that staccato vocal effect. And number three, don't rely on AI too much to remove filler words and spaces.
Yes, it can save you time, but you can always tell when a podcaster's used AI to remove filler words and not checked it, because the space between words and sentences is much more prominent and jumpy and sounds super unnatural. You don't need to make huge changes to your editing process, but making one or all of the three mentioned here will help each episode flow better. Until the next time, happy podcasting. Thanks for listening.
