With the news that Apple Podcasts will now support individual episode artwork when iOS 17 is released in September, a lot of podcasters are now asking should they use individual episode artwork.
And much like anything, there's a pro and con to each. The biggest pro is it helps your episodes stand out on podcast apps, which is great for something like movie podcasts, for example, where you include the movie title, artwork, and more. Or if you have an interview podcast, you can use an image of your guest. However, the pro can also lead to the con. And that con is it can dilute your podcast brand as well.
So if listeners are used to seeing your logo or artwork for your overall podcast and you start to use individual episode artwork, then it can be confusing for them. Unless your branding is really strong and it still comes through on the episode artwork when using that. So it's one of these questions that there's no real right or wrong answer, and if you think it's going to affect your podcast branding. Until the next time, happy podcasting.
