I'm Danny Brown and you're listening to One Minute Podcast Tips, the show that helps you be a better podcaster in just a minute a week. If you want more specific tips just for you and your podcast, check out the Magic Mic membership at oneminutepodcasttips.com/support. And now, this week's episode. While we all want to be consistent when it comes to our podcast publishing, There will be times when you feel you have to take a break. This can be down to illness.
It could be that you're getting busier at work. It could be you've got some family stuff to take care of. Or it could just be that you're feeling a little bit overwhelmed with the podcasting process and you want to take a little break. And there's nothing wrong with that whatsoever. You come first over everything. Now, quick heads up. This is different from taking a break if your podcast is seasonal because listeners expect that.
But if you need to take an unplanned break, here are some quick ways to make sure your listeners know what's happening and what comes next.
The first one is obviously let your listeners know so, either record a bonus episode or if your podcast host supports dynamic content maybe drop a pre-roll into your episodes just saying, "Hey, just to let you know i'm taking a short break from the podcast for the next few weeks and the show will be back to its normal schedule on date X." This way you're letting listeners know about the break and a rough idea when you expect it to come back. You can also make a quick announcement on social
media, or your newsletter, or anywhere you have an online presence. Again, you don't have to go into the details of why you're taking a break, just that you're taking a break and here's when you can expect new episodes. By doing this, you're taking a break that you need and you're also keeping your listeners up to date. That way they'll be ready and waiting for you when you come back. Until the next time, happy podcasting.
