Last week I published the first episode of a brand new podcast. As part of the run up to that, I shared the upcoming publishing info with various industry newsletters and asked if they'd be willing to share with their readers. As a result, the first episode received over a thousand listeners on day one, many of which came from these newsletters. This is why I always recommend sharing key news around your podcast with industry newsletters.
Their readers and subscribers are already invested in the podcasting space, so are more open to finding out more about you and your show. Some key reminders though, it helps to be an existing subscriber to the newsletter to show you're already invested in what they're doing.
Make it as easy as possible for them to include by providing sound bites and quote or takeaways that they can share, and acknowledge any inclusion you do receive, including a shout out on your next episode to share your appreciation. Growing a podcast can be hard, but there are a lot of ways to make that job at least a little easier. It's up to you to make sure you're using them effectively. Until the next time, happy podcasting.
