Episode description

Sydney Storey (maiden name Smallbone) played basketball for the late Pat Summitt at the University of Tennessee from 2007-2011 and was a member of the 2008 National Championship Team.  Sydney talks about growing up in Granger, Indiana, how she got into basketball, playing AAU from a young age, and her excellent career at Saint Joseph High School in South Bend where she played with Melissa Lechlitner and Kristen Dockery, and won a state championship.  She describes the recruiting process, what led her to pick Tennessee, what it was like to play for Pat Summitt, winning a National Championship her Freshman year, followed by an early exit in the tournament her Sophomore year, and experiencing Pat Summitt's declining health.  Sydney discusses her decision to become a high school basketball coach after graduating Tennessee, turning a program around at a school in Michigan before being offered a position at her alma mater, coaching with some former teammates, and dedicating her State Championship win in 2017 to Pat Summitt.
