Episode description

Jon Poppe played football at Williams College from 2003-2006 and is currently an assistant coach for Harvard University.  Jon talks about growing up in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, how he got into football, and his great high school career at Bergen Catholic where he played both offense and defense, and won a State Championship in 2001.  He describes the recruiting process, why he chose Williams, playing in the NESCAC, and his career highlights.  Jon details his decision to become a coach, his first stop at Kings College, and then becoming a Graduate Assistant at Springfield College where he met his wife.  He talks about his first Division 1 stop at Holy Cross, and then his first stint at Harvard, where he coached the Secondary and the team won several Ivy League Championships.  Jon then talks about moving onto Columbia, where he helped rebuild the program for 3 seasons, and his decision to go back to Harvard, where he is currently, to be the Secondary and Special Teams Coach.  He discusses the recent cancellation of the Ivy League's 2020 season due to Covid-19 and how he is continuing to coach through the pandemic.
