Episode description

Ariel Braker played basketball at the University of Notre Dame from 2010-2014 and then went on to coach at Wayne State, Western Texas, and Lehigh.  She is currently Assistant Coach at Oakland University.  Ariel talks about growing up in Evansville, Indiana, but moving to Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan in middle school, being the oldest of 5 children, and how she got into basketball.  She discusses her great career at Grosse Point North High School, the recruiting process, why she chose Notre Dame, and having to wait behind a few older players.  Ariel then talks about going to 4 straight Final Fours, having a winning record against UConn, switching from the Big East to the ACC, being defensive-minded, and being ready when her time came.  She details how she got into coaching after her Notre Dame career, her first stop at Division II Wayne State, then Western Texas College, and then her first Division 1 job at Lehigh where she played against Notre Dame for Muffet McGraw's 900th win.  She discusses her current job at Oakland University in Michigan and her continued support for Notre Dame.
