Activist, dance enthusiast, coordinator, administrator, and grants writer for nonprofit organizations, Lois Schaffer has devoted her energies to protecting human rights. Her activism prompted her to participate in marches and rallies in support of the civil rights movement and to protest the war in Vietnam. She was actively advocating the reduction of gun violence even before her daughter’s murder. Now her energies are even more focused to honor her daughter’s memory and prevent tragedies for other families.

Her book "From Bullet to Bullhorn" contains inspirational stories of survival, advocacy and action shared by those who were suddenly affected by the loss of a loved one to heal themselves, other survivors, our society, implement sensible gun legislation for a better future.
