On This Day and Working Class History The Fifth of January film. On the fifth of January nineteen seventy, a group of mercenaries headed to Socio, France to begin work at the Pergo factory in order to infiltrate and break workers organization. Pergo initially hired a group of one hundred

and twenty mostly army veterans, including convicted murderers and other criminals. However, the plan didn't work very well because the mercenaries started carrying out robberies and even considered organizing sabotage and slow downs in the factory themselves in order to make themselves seem indispensable.
