On the fourth of January nineteen seventeen, a ten day strike of wolf workers started in Guyana. As a consequence of World War One, the prices of food and other commodities rose while wages remained the same. Against the background of labour unrest due to deteriorating living conditions, the wolf workers won an increase in wages, a reduction to a maximum nine hour working day overtime pay, and they sparked a national strike wave and the sources maps and all
