In 2003, a badly decomposed body was discovered near a West Carrollton dam of the Great Miami River, in Montgomery County. When word got out that it was an elderly black woman, there were two Dayton-area families who anxiously awaited for the coroner to make an announcement. Was it Maebell Dawson, or Mabel Moore - both older black women who had vanished from their homes in the previous two years.
