In 1884, 10,000 Cincinnatians filled the streets around the Hamilton County Courthouse to protest a jury's decision to convict a cold-blooded killer with the lesser crime of manslaughter. What happened next took the lives of 56 people, sent hundreds more to area hospitals, and left a courthouse and most county records in ruins.
