Joan has a game night and it stirs up some fun conversation. Maya learns that Darnell may have slept with another woman the night before he remarried Lena.

***SPOILER ALERT*** We usually do banter before we review the episodes, but this one... we went... H*A*M*! And It ran a little long. We had a lot of opinions, well mostly Esty did. So here are our thoughts on The Little Mermaid (2023)!
Toni is suddenly overwhelmed by Todd's aggressive campaign for custody of Morgan, as he attempts to portray her as a bad mother. William & Joan are dealing with dating people way outside of their age groups and whether they can keep up with them or not.
A much older man (Melvin Van Peebles) pursues Joan, but she is unsure whether or not to date him because of the age difference. Maya is trying to come up with a new concept for her new book series, and she finds it right under her nose.

My apologies** When William goes home to aid his mother during her operation, he encounters memories of his childhood and a father who never quite understood him. The struggle to add Toni to their hangouts now that she has become a mother.
Joan persuades Toni to start breastfeeding Morgan to prevent Todd from winning full custody; meanwhile Darnell and Maya fight about the terms of their new marriage.
Toni wants to hire a nanny to help care for Morgan, but Todd convinces her that they should wait until after they have bonded with their daughter. Toni has great difficulty adjusting to motherhood. After Toni fails to show for Morgan's first doctor's appointment (instead sending her with a nanny), Todd fears that she doesn't care for the child and decides to take action. Lynn is hesitant regarding Jennifer's marriage plans; however, due to Jennifer's fragile state of mind, agrees anyway. Meanwhile, Toni and Todd continue to struggle with their marriage and Maya and Darnell make some decisions about theirs.
While Maya and Darnell run off to Vegas to elope, Toni questions her relationship with Todd; meanwhile Lynn meets a despondent woman, and proposes a temporary fix for her problems.
Darnell is getting married to Lena and as the wedding day approaches he makes a drunkin' confession to Maya. Toni has her baby without Todd or her girlfriends being there. Lynn openly confronts Finn in front of the band during a rehearsal session and ends up quitting the band.
Toni is at the home stretch of her pregnancy and is trying to figure out what contractions are suppose to feel like. Joan & William are dealing with residual feelings from their breakup. Lynn is still dealing with her feelings for Finn and him not wanting to commit. And while in a drunken stupor, Darnell confesses something to Maya the night before his wedding. William surprises Joan with a romantic Christmas getaway in Puerto Rico, but they wind up stuck at a seedy motel after a blizzard strands them in Cincinnati during a layover. Meanwhile, Lynn, Maya and Toni take advantage of Joan's absence to enjoy the holiday at her house without all of her strict Christmas rules and other demanding behavior.
Maya's slowly waning dream of becoming a renowned author is suddenly revived when she is offered a writing position at an adult literature company. She must decide if continuing her dream is worth getting out of her comfort zone. Joan & William work on their communication issues.
