[SPEAKER_03]: a factual data creation facility production. [SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to the OFN Tea Podcast. [SPEAKER_02]: A show mainly about tech and other topics and how their influence affects our host. [SPEAKER_02]: Now here he is, Jim Schafer. [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the off-NT podcast episode 306, which I'm calling Snow Day. [SPEAKER_01]: Now the title is still the explanatory. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm reformating the show a bit, so going forward, the intro will be a lot shorter.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, before I start, I have a slight correction. [SPEAKER_01]: When referring to the winter storm of last weekend, I stated that it was supposed to envelope half the country. [SPEAKER_01]: What I meant to say is, envelope half the country. [SPEAKER_01]: And that was just one of a long list of mispronunciations I committed. [SPEAKER_01]: Man, that's what you get for rushing things. [SPEAKER_01]: A minor mistake, but it's been bothering me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, this week Storm didn't miss us. [SPEAKER_01]: Instead it dumped about eight or more inches of snow on the area. [SPEAKER_01]: This was accompanied by freezing temperatures, but thankfully, the wind was calm. [SPEAKER_01]: After about six inches of snow was on the ground, my decided to go out and shovel. [SPEAKER_01]: After about an hour and a half of shoveling, my son came out to relieve me.
[SPEAKER_01]: He was sort of angry with me for not letting him know I was out there. [SPEAKER_01]: I actually thought it would take me about 30 minutes to complete the shoveling. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I shoveled more snow than that before up in New York, but that was years ago now. [SPEAKER_01]: My stamina was fine, but the right side of my lower back wasn't. [SPEAKER_01]: After about 45 minutes in, I had to start taking small breaks before I was able to continue.
[SPEAKER_01]: A further two to three inches fell during the evening, but my son went out and took care of that this morning. [SPEAKER_01]: The saying, when you're old, it's not that you can't do what you used to do. [SPEAKER_01]: You just can't do it for as long or as often as you used to. [SPEAKER_01]: And that turned out to be true. [SPEAKER_01]: Technos. [SPEAKER_01]: Apple Creator Studio subscription service went live last Wednesday.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is the giant fruit company's answer to Adobe's creative cloud and other creative bundles out there. [SPEAKER_01]: Apple's bundle will cost $12.99 per month, at least for now. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, at least for now. [SPEAKER_01]: Compared to other bundles aimed at a similar audience, Apple's bundle can be considered a bargain.
[SPEAKER_01]: You get final cut pro for video editing, logic pro for music and audio production, pixel made or pro, Apple's answer to Photoshop, a few other apps that can be considered as niche, and the old iWorks Suite, which includes pages for word processing and numbers for spreadsheet production. [SPEAKER_02]: Hold on a second, I thought the iWorks Suite was free.
[SPEAKER_01]: It still is, but if you want, what Apple is calling intelligence features, and that's Apple's speak for Apple intelligence. [SPEAKER_01]: Then you'll have to cough up that monthly subscription. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you only apps that I currently use from this bundle are pages and sometimes numbers? [SPEAKER_01]: The last couple of years of my gainful employment I use numbers for catching up on work while at home, but since my retirement I only use numbers around tax time.
[SPEAKER_01]: an update for pages and numbers, which I assume were pushed out for the other apps that are part of I work also, changed the icon of the apps and gave a preview of what's included when you subscribe to the new bundle. [SPEAKER_01]: But that was only for iOS and iPad OS devices. [SPEAKER_01]: I looked at the new Intelligent Template for pages, but found nothing I would really use.
[SPEAKER_01]: Instead, you had a download in hands version of the app separately for a 30-day free trial. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's certainly weird. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I thought so too. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what will happen after the 30-day trial ends. [SPEAKER_01]: For now, I have two separate editions of pages of my MacMany.
[SPEAKER_01]: Users have been reporting that when they open up their now-legacy-eyework apps, their receiving a message that tells them that this version will longer receive updates, and that they should upgrade to the new app. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't receive any message like that until the next morning when I opened pages. [SPEAKER_01]: I guess I was ahead of the curve on this. [SPEAKER_01]: According to AppleInsider.com, the new versions of the I work apps are what's called Universal Apps.
[SPEAKER_01]: Make the work on iOS, iPad OS, and Mac OS. [SPEAKER_01]: The old Mac OS apps are or were Mac OS specific. [SPEAKER_01]: The toolbar is the biggest difference that I've observed so far. [SPEAKER_01]: I prefer the old pages toolbar, though. [SPEAKER_01]: I think I recall Microsoft doing these universal amps back in the Windows phone days. [SPEAKER_01]: How that turned out for them.
[SPEAKER_01]: The other non-I work apps included in the Creator bundle are still available for purchase separately for Mac OS, but won't get any of the new enhancements. [SPEAKER_01]: For iOS and iPad OS, those apps were always subscription-based anyway, and they're included with the Creator Bundle. [SPEAKER_01]: The only other app I was interested in was Logic Pro that I'd use for recording podcasts, but upon further investigation, I realized it would be overkill for me.
[SPEAKER_01]: For professional video and audio creators, YouTubers and the like, this bundle is a great [SPEAKER_01]: A conversion of the I work apps into universal versions reminded me of a rumor that I had heard many moons ago. [SPEAKER_01]: I forgot where I read this, but it was said that Apple would eventually like to dump a macOS, instead power all its devices with derivatives of iOS.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we've gotten TVOS in iPad OS, which are both based on iOS, and iPad OS is looking and behaving more like Mac OS these days, so there might be something to that long-go rumor. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, I know the rumor has been making it to way around the inter-toop lately. [SPEAKER_01]: This rumor isn't one of this year's MacBook Pros will feature a touchscreen, my goodness. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a blasphemy, I tell ya.
[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder what old Steve Jobs would think of this if he was still around? [SPEAKER_01]: Apple also released the second generation of the AirTag last week. [SPEAKER_01]: That's great news, I've been waiting a long time for this. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, not really. [SPEAKER_01]: I use the first generation of AirTags for tracking luggage well, traveling in other things, and they work good enough for me.
[SPEAKER_01]: According to Apple Insider.com, the new airtags feature more precise tracking at greater distances, have a louder speaker, bigger and better range, improved security features and are better for the environment. [SPEAKER_01]: They'll cost me the same 30 bucks as the older model did, which is nice. [SPEAKER_01]: I guess this is a solid upgrade for a not so exciting product.
[SPEAKER_01]: The thinnest-in iPhone Air can always be dependent on for giving the tech press something to write about on Slow News Weeks. [SPEAKER_01]: This week's rumor comes from the appropriately named MacRumors.com, who's quoting Rising Weibo Leaker Instant Digital. [SPEAKER_01]: That concerns the Face ID component. [SPEAKER_01]: According to Instant Digital, Apple is developing a thinner component for upcoming models [SPEAKER_01]: How does it make sense?
[SPEAKER_01]: And in my opinion, a thinner face ID component can also be used in another type of Apple device. [SPEAKER_01]: A type of device that currently lacks face ID capability, and that would be MacBooks. [SPEAKER_01]: The reason why MacBooks don't have face ID is because the enclosure where the screen design is just too thin. [SPEAKER_01]: In the past, Apple has said that Touch ID is more convenient, but how do they figure that?
[SPEAKER_01]: And if that's true, why did they get rid of Touch ID any iPhone? [SPEAKER_02]: I've heard that Touch ID is making a comeback with the iPhone Fold. [SPEAKER_01]: It most likely will be, and that's because of the, in the Folds case, multiple thin screens. [SPEAKER_01]: So Apple has the motivation for making a thinner face ID module for multiple devices, not just the future iterations of the iPhone Air. [SPEAKER_01]: Apple released the latest public beta of iOS last Wednesday.
[SPEAKER_01]: I no longer participate in the public beta program these days, I guess I'm getting old. [SPEAKER_01]: Getting? [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I'm already old and this weekend proved it. [SPEAKER_01]: I just don't want to screw around with beta releases these days. [SPEAKER_01]: 9 to 5 Mac has a rundown of the new features introduced and when I find interesting are the features that make it easier for iOS users to switch to Android and better interoperability with third-party watches.
[SPEAKER_01]: This seems to be a new direction for the boys' over in Cupertino. [SPEAKER_01]: The new transfer to Android system works like setting up a new iPhone using your old one. [SPEAKER_01]: You would place your new Android phone next to your iPhone. [SPEAKER_01]: Go to Settings on your iPhone and hit Transfer to Android. [SPEAKER_01]: Everything including your phone number will be automatically transferred over to your new Android phone.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, excluding health data, Bluetooth devices and locked notes. [SPEAKER_01]: In the future, these data types will be added, though. [SPEAKER_01]: Transfer to Android was developed jointly with Google. [SPEAKER_01]: What? [SPEAKER_01]: And the big G resipcated by adding a transfer to iOS system to Android. [SPEAKER_01]: I've been telling you that eventually iOS and Android will merge into one operating system have an eye.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, this iOS update allows better integration if third-party watches like Garmin models, for example. [SPEAKER_01]: Sure this will make things more convenient for consumers, but I don't know if I like the direction this is all headed in. [SPEAKER_01]: What's your opinion on this? [SPEAKER_01]: The one thing that Apple does which earns most of my respect is the company's device's update policy.
[SPEAKER_01]: There are a certain number of older Apple devices still in use, and I don't know what the threshold number would be, but it has to be low. [SPEAKER_01]: Now Apple doesn't supply major operating system updates for these older devices, but they will push out security and other types of updates. [SPEAKER_01]: Androidauthority.com recently highlighted this with a little jealousy I might add.
[SPEAKER_01]: With a story about a Reddit user who posted that his iPhone 6 recently received an iOS 12 update that will enable his 13-year-old phone to keep operating. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow! [SPEAKER_01]: The update extends the phone's digital certificate, allowing it to continue using Apple's core functions, like iMessage FaceTime and device setup. [SPEAKER_01]: Without this extension, the Reddit user's phone would not be able to function. [SPEAKER_01]: What about third party apps?
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's another story. [SPEAKER_01]: I'd wager that most of not all of them no longer work on that phone. [SPEAKER_01]: But some people only need to use their phones for communication, imagine that. [SPEAKER_01]: And this old iPhone 6 will still be able to do that. [SPEAKER_01]: Heck, even the iPhone 5 which came out in 2012 got this update. [SPEAKER_01]: Along with the first generation iPad Air, the iPad Mini 2 and 3, and even the 6th generation iPod Touch.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I've had Android phones in the past that didn't even get more than two updates during their lifespan. [SPEAKER_01]: Multiple sources, including nine to five Mac, supply chain, analyst, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ming Qi Quo. [SPEAKER_01]: Bloomberg. [SPEAKER_01]: Bloomberg's Mark German. [SPEAKER_01]: That wasn't specified.
[SPEAKER_01]: Leaker, the information and financial analyst, a Jeff Poo, or Poo, are all agreeing that the upcoming base model iPhone 18 won't be released until the first half of 2027. [SPEAKER_01]: This rumor has been circulating for a while now, but seldom do we get all of the heavy hitters behind it, reasons such as memory shortages and the like were given for this. [SPEAKER_01]: My opinion on this matter is that Apple is clarifying its product positioning.
[SPEAKER_01]: That is on who their various products are intended for. [SPEAKER_01]: If I just like the MacBook and iPad Pro, the iPhone Pro and the Mac Studio are aimed at professionals or wealthy people. [SPEAKER_01]: While the MacBook Air, iPad Air, Mac Mini and the iPhone Base Model and Air are for quote, normal consumers. [SPEAKER_01]: The rumored plain Jane MacBook, which will run on a A-Series chip? [SPEAKER_01]: The base model iPad and the iPhone E-Series will be for entry-level users.
[SPEAKER_01]: You mean poor people? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, yes, or people who don't want to waste their money on gadgets like I do. [SPEAKER_01]: Though I'll be joining this group in the near future. [SPEAKER_01]: Perhaps we'll be seeing three separate Apple events announcing these distinct tiers of products. [SPEAKER_01]: But there were separate articles on both 9-5 Google.com and Android Authority.com, slamming Google's AI infuse pixel weather app.
[SPEAKER_01]: Highlighting just how wrong the weather forecast were for their localities. [SPEAKER_01]: Spoiler alert, not many if any of the weather apps fared much better. [SPEAKER_01]: Or on that in the next section. [SPEAKER_01]: The pixels weather AI even created a new word, flirty. [SPEAKER_01]: When describing snowfall conditions, I guess that's supposed to be flurry.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Android Authority article provided a photo of this, which is what I hear to kids call bringing their receipts. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: The article which appeared on on to five Google took a more personal approach with the author detailing his multi-day experience with Pixel Weather. [SPEAKER_01]: Like myself, he uses multiple weather apps and claims Accuweather gave him the most accurate forecast.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've used Accuweather in the past, but found it to be inaccurate. [SPEAKER_01]: My suggestion is to take these forecasts, these apps give you with a grain of salt. [SPEAKER_01]: Utilize local radio and television stations to get a real sense of how incoming weather conditions might affect your area. [SPEAKER_01]: Like me, you're probably sick and tired of the subscription model being applied to just about anything and everything.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, you've grown nothing, underbe happy. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I have some bad news for you. [SPEAKER_01]: At least for those who use meta products. [SPEAKER_01]: That is, if you want to use AI. [SPEAKER_01]: According to TechCrunch.com, meta has begun testing out subscription-based quote-in-hand's features on the company's Instagram Facebook and WhatsApp products. [SPEAKER_01]: No pricing amounts were devolved, but I'm sure a tiered system will be implemented.
[SPEAKER_01]: The only meta product I use is a Facebook Messenger. [SPEAKER_01]: That's only because Messenger rules communication in Southeast Asia, and my lovely wife is presently visiting that area of the world. [SPEAKER_01]: Previously, we used other apps to keep in contact while she was traveling, but because her relatives are all on Messenger, it's more convenient for us to use it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyhow, if you're an avid user of meta-owned apps, [SPEAKER_01]: Expect to be paying for them soon. [SPEAKER_01]: Tekken using... [SPEAKER_01]: I use Microsoft's outlook as my main email client. [SPEAKER_01]: Over the years, it's been pretty good for me. [SPEAKER_01]: Everyone's in a while, some spam email would get through, but that's to be expected these days.
[SPEAKER_01]: Recently, starting right after the new year, my inbox has been getting bombarded with up to 50, yes, 50 or more spam emails per day. [SPEAKER_01]: There are two distinct types of spam emails. [SPEAKER_01]: When claiming a denied payment for a service, usually some kind of anti-virus software from Windows, while the other tells me my cloud service is going to stop, and all my data will be deleted if I don't pay the Deliquan amount higher, one of my non-existent account.
[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, both types want me to accomplish this by updating my payment method. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that old gag. [SPEAKER_01]: Because of this deluge of spam, I've developed a routine. [SPEAKER_01]: Upon noticing that I have a number of emails in my inbox, I move all the spam mail to my junk folder. [SPEAKER_01]: And just before turning in for the evening, I empty that junk folder.
[SPEAKER_01]: There is a block sender option available, and I start it using this option at the beginning of the month, [SPEAKER_01]: I know this because I see the spam email showing up in my junk folder with the Sender Block tag on it. [SPEAKER_01]: Add to this the spam text messages I've been suddenly getting, which like the spam e-mails, has seen an uptick since the New Year. [SPEAKER_01]: I get the Isis Victoria's phone number text, which is how the big butchering scam is initiated.
[SPEAKER_01]: They also get the package-campy delivered until you pay scam messages, and I usually get one of each per day, sometimes more. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I know it's early in the year, but I'm nominating 2026 for the year of the Spam Slay Scam Award. [SPEAKER_01]: Now I did contact Microsoft about the spam emails, voicing my opinion about this problem. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, giving my opinion that this has to be the result of some sort of spam campaign, mostly launched by a single entity.
[SPEAKER_01]: Microsoft replied that they're aware of this problem and are going to do everything in their power to stop it. [SPEAKER_01]: Fair enough. [SPEAKER_01]: I pay for proton security email and I'm thinking of switching my important stuff over to that. [SPEAKER_01]: Have you noticed an increase in spam slash scam emails in text messages recently?
[SPEAKER_01]: With the huge winter storm hitting the United States over the last weekend and beyond, people had weather conditions on their mind. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I tried watching some of those weather channels that are on YouTube, but like mainstream media, their goal is to amp you up by telling you how horrible the weather is going to be. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank goodness for weather apps. [SPEAKER_01]: Am I right? [SPEAKER_01]: Wrong. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: About that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've come to the conclusion that most of them are useless. [SPEAKER_01]: Apple weather predicted ice storms from my area, while forca predicted brain mix would sleep starting Saturday. [SPEAKER_01]: And the others? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just down to only two weather apps these days. [SPEAKER_01]: So I decided to listen to my local radio station for the weather info. [SPEAKER_01]: Radio will imagine that.
[SPEAKER_01]: The station predicted intermittent rain showers overnight and throughout Sunday. [SPEAKER_01]: And guess what? [SPEAKER_01]: They were right. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, every weather source predicted temperatures falling below freezing starting Monday, so I figured we'd have some ice on roads. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't bother listening to my local radio station before going to bed on Sunday evening, but I did look at my weather apps.
[SPEAKER_01]: Apple weather predicted that the temperature would stay above freezing until Monday evening, while Fwarker predicted the temperature would drop below freezing, and stay that way all of Monday into Tuesday. [SPEAKER_01]: Either predicted any precipitation. [SPEAKER_01]: Well imagine my surprise upon waking up Monday morning to about an inches snow on the ground. [SPEAKER_01]: As a matter of fact, we had snowflurry throughout the day on Monday.
[SPEAKER_01]: Scrolling through my overnight notifications, I did see that Forka had sent me a snowstorming alert at 3 o'clock in the morning. [SPEAKER_01]: Of course I didn't see that because I was sleeping as you should have been. [SPEAKER_01]: Checking the security camera I verified that Forka was correct, snow did start falling at 3 o'clock in the morning. [SPEAKER_01]: The only weather app that I've used that was extremely in scarily accurate was the late Great Dark Sky.
[SPEAKER_01]: Supposedly Apple integrated dark sky into its own weather app upon buying the app, but they must have neglected bringing the accuracy part. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not alone on this either. [SPEAKER_01]: An article by Wilver Zuko titled the tragic demise of a weather app that was too good, which appeared on HowToGeek.com last month. [SPEAKER_01]: As had the same experiences I've had with Dark Sky and later Apple weather, he seems to think that weather apps these days try and do too much.
[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if the devs behind Dark Sky had to sign some no-compete claws when Apple made the millionaires. [SPEAKER_01]: I'd like to know when that no-compete claws ends, and if they have any plans on a Dark Sky follow-up. [SPEAKER_01]: entertainment news. [SPEAKER_01]: I've been quite the busy camper lately in regards to watching television. [SPEAKER_01]: My wife is off visiting relatives who are located in far off land, so I'm bored.
[SPEAKER_01]: Last week I completed Season 1 of Apple TV's sci-fi show Pluribus, caught up on Season 2 of Amazon's Prime Show Fallout, and started getting into the [SPEAKER_01]: I found Plurb is okay, not bad, but not living up to the hype around the show. [SPEAKER_01]: The lead actress reminds me of an actress named Claire Dane who played the protagonist in the Show Time Original Series homeland. [SPEAKER_01]: Both in Luxon, acting style.
[SPEAKER_01]: What type of acting style are you referring to? [SPEAKER_01]: Constant Emotional Outburst, combined with plenty of tears. [SPEAKER_01]: Fallout, which is based on a video game that I never played, had a good season 1, and this has continued with season 2. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm up to Episode 6 of 8, with Episode 7 dropping this week. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll probably be watching this new episode after I'm finished here. [SPEAKER_01]: The acting writing are top notch on this show.
[SPEAKER_01]: I enjoyed piecemakers for a season, but reviews of the show's second season was lambasted by many reviewers. [SPEAKER_01]: Well so far I'm enjoying season 2 and I don't know what all the fuss was about. [SPEAKER_01]: There are other shows I've yet to get to, but I'm concentrating on fallout and peace make her first. [SPEAKER_01]: What are you currently watching? [SPEAKER_01]: podcast news. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it might be finally happening. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, what are you on about?
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm on about the official microphone of podcasters. [SPEAKER_02]: For a second, I thought you were going to start rambling on about audio interfaces. [SPEAKER_01]: Don't tempt me. [SPEAKER_01]: And this microphone is also the favorite of YouTubers, which of course is the ambiguous sure SM7B and its variants. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, they seem to [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not hitting on the mic, I'm just tired of hearing and seeing it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Over the years I've seen YouTubers with large following switch from really good high-end microphones over to the SM7B. [SPEAKER_01]: Samingly just for aesthetic reasons. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll admit that the SM7B does look cool. [SPEAKER_01]: As far as sound quality goes, while it does sound smooth, but if you have a deep voice, you'll sound dull and muffled. [SPEAKER_01]: The road pro-caster microphone I used to use has the same characteristics.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I stopped using it. [SPEAKER_01]: The most annoying thing I find with the SM7B is Plusives. [SPEAKER_01]: Plusives is the term for a sound a mic makes when saying words with P and B sounds in it, or just breathing hard into the mic. [SPEAKER_01]: I found that good mic technique mitigates this. [SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, others apparently haven't. [SPEAKER_01]: Recently, some of the YouTube channels I watch have dumped the SM7B, most switching to Louis Condenser mics.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Hodge Twin Show has recently replaced their SM7Bs with RE320s and sound so much better for it. [SPEAKER_01]: I think we're witnessing a new trend here in Amal for it. [SPEAKER_01]: Just because Joe Rogan uses the SM7B doesn't mean that everyone should. [SPEAKER_01]: Just get the microphone that sounds the best for your voice. [SPEAKER_00]: Words of wisdom, Lloyd. [SPEAKER_01]: Words of wisdom. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I already told you that I was bored.
[SPEAKER_01]: In one of the videos he towards the brand new as of 2025, Studios of a California National Public Radio Affiliate. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they just built an entire building to house their studios and offices. [SPEAKER_01]: The whole place was pretty lavish, especially when you compare this facility to standard commercial radio facilities.
[SPEAKER_01]: Most of this NPR affiliates many studios were outfitted with at least 4 SM7Bs, which is a serious downgrader NPR, but were attached to top-of-the-line audio processors. [SPEAKER_01]: I was surprised to see NPR using the Loli SM7B. [SPEAKER_01]: I guess that cut-off of taxpayer money is actually having an effect on them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then again, the money used to build this luxurious broadcast center probably was a lot [SPEAKER_01]: One studio was equipped with what used to be the standard microphone for NPR, and that would be the Neumann U87. [SPEAKER_01]: That micolone caused up to $4,000. [SPEAKER_01]: Compare that to most commercial stations which are usually equipped with the Electrovoice R20. [SPEAKER_01]: That's my microphone of choice, though I'm using a road NT-1 signature series tonight.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing like living off the taxpayers dying, is there? [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: I can just imagine what NPR's headquarters studios in Washington, D.C. is equipped with. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty sure all the microphones in use there are Neumann, U.A.D. [SPEAKER_01]: 7's. [SPEAKER_01]: That money shuffled over to NPR and yet they can no longer produce anything worth listening to. [SPEAKER_01]: That's just not my opinion.
[SPEAKER_01]: Take a gander at NPR's audience numbers and you degree with me. [SPEAKER_01]: As I said, this video was made shortly before the current administration turned off the endless money-spicket of taxpayer capital, and the gutting of the corrupt USAID has further tightened the cash flow into NBR. [SPEAKER_01]: And of course, I had to read the comments. [SPEAKER_01]: Most of which were made by Koreans or former commercial broadcast employees from the US and overseas.
[SPEAKER_01]: The majority sentiment from the state side commenters was, thank goodness, our tax dollars are no longer going towards this. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: The foreign comments were, mostly about how posh this facility was, especially the equipment, [SPEAKER_01]: This is an example of what happens when you receive a constant influx of funds that no one oversees or is held accountable for, and there's no expectation to even remotely become profitable.
[SPEAKER_01]: As they say, it's good work if you can find it. [SPEAKER_01]: It sure is. [SPEAKER_01]: I doubt we'll be seeing tours of NPR affiliates like this in the future. [SPEAKER_01]: I just hope that the decision to defund a public radio isn't reversed during a new administration. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm certain that England's BBC is quite similar. [SPEAKER_01]: The point I'm trying to make here is that public radio stations can be equipped in run for a heck of a lot less money.
[SPEAKER_01]: And showing off like this affiliate didn't this video, can be compared to a slap in the face to the taxpayer. [SPEAKER_01]: The music is playing, which signals that this episode of the OFN-T podcast is beginning its animal. [SPEAKER_01]: It also signals that I can once again turn the heat up. [SPEAKER_01]: It's been really uncharacterably cold for this area. [SPEAKER_01]: I hope you enjoyed this episode, I enjoyed making it, boy.
[SPEAKER_01]: To like what you heard, you can make a donation using the link in the show notes. [SPEAKER_01]: Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. [SPEAKER_01]: You can always reach me at ofandtpodcast at gmail.com. [SPEAKER_01]: If you're so inclined, I'd enjoy hearing from you. [SPEAKER_01]: Early what? [SPEAKER_01]: Remember, don't listen to what they say. [SPEAKER_01]: Watch what they do.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why you'd be kneeling around here in this good weather, but if you still are, get off my lawn. [SPEAKER_01]: That's day skeptical. [SPEAKER_01]: Ahhhh, about. [SPEAKER_01]: You. [SPEAKER_02]: Go! [SPEAKER_02]: And that folks is the end of the show.
