[SPEAKER_00]: a factual day to creation facility production. [SPEAKER_02]: Recorded live at the studios of the factual data creation facility, it's the OFNT podcast. [SPEAKER_02]: Now here's your host, the man who actually knows what a woman is. [SPEAKER_02]: Jim Schaefer, [SPEAKER_01]: and I'm still shell shocked by that knowledge. [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to episode two, Eddie three, which I'm calling, made by Google native ad.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Google decides to go in a different direction regarding their latest events. [SPEAKER_01]: Or about this later. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, how does my voice sound? [SPEAKER_01]: Listeners thought it sounded very different during the intro to the last episode. [SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully it's back to normal. [SPEAKER_01]: I've got a pretty good episode for you this week, at least I think so. [SPEAKER_01]: So sit back and enjoy it if you can.
[SPEAKER_01]: This week's featured microphone is the Legendary Electro Voice R.E. [SPEAKER_01]: Twenty. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's get started now. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_02]: Five, four, three, two, three, four, three, four, three, four, three, four, three, four, five, six, five, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six, six,
[SPEAKER_03]: I suppose we're starting with the usual Apple news, are we? [SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm starting with Google News this week. [SPEAKER_00]: What? [SPEAKER_01]: And that's because Google held its made by Google event last week. [SPEAKER_01]: Many described the format used for the event as a cringe and sadly I have to agree with them. [SPEAKER_01]: comedian and late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon hosted the event and to be honest, he looked like he didn't want to be there.
[SPEAKER_01]: It says if Mr. Fallon was a substitute for the originally scheduled host to back out at the last minute. [SPEAKER_01]: There were appearances by some not-so-known celebrities like the flamboyant Peloton cycling instructor, Cody Rigsby. [SPEAKER_04]: Who? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, unless you're in the Peloton ecosystem, you wouldn't have any idea who he is. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's just say that he's one of my least favorite instructors.
[SPEAKER_01]: We also had a guest appearance by the host of the Call Her Daddy Podcast. [SPEAKER_01]: Alex Cooper, who talked about herself for five minutes barely mentioning the product at hand. [SPEAKER_01]: The whole production came off like a nineties info commercial for the thymaster. [SPEAKER_01]: That aside, let's get to the point of the event the product's Google was attempting to announce. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to go deep into the specs of all the products here. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_01]: You could find a better source for those elsewhere. [SPEAKER_01]: As I've said in the past, I'm a fan of the design of the recent Pixel phones, and I'm not alone. [SPEAKER_01]: Proof being that none other than Apple has borrowed heavily from the Pixel for the company's upcoming iPhone-Seventeen lineup, especially the camera bar.
[SPEAKER_01]: This year there were very few changes to the current Pixel design. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, why mess with a good thing? [SPEAKER_01]: The Pixel Ten Pro XL features a six-point eight-inch display. [SPEAKER_01]: and improves the peak brightness over last year's Pixel Nine Pro XL. [SPEAKER_01]: Of course the software, mainly Gemini AI, is improved, and to be fair, Google didn't let Gemini dominate the event as it did in years past.
[SPEAKER_01]: The cameras were slightly upgraded, but that too is to be expected. [SPEAKER_01]: Battery size has also been increased, which is always a good thing, and QEII charging has been added. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's been answered. [SPEAKER_01]: QEII. [SPEAKER_01]: The QEII standard is the industry's answer to Apple's mags safe, and Apple products are also compatible with that standard.
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel the real improvement for the Pixel lineup this year will be the TSMC made tensor G-V chip, manufactured using the three millimeter process. [SPEAKER_01]: This should result in more stable processing with less throttling due to thermal issues. [SPEAKER_01]: The Pixel Pro XL has sixteen gigs of RAM, the same as last year's XL model.
[SPEAKER_01]: The base model includes two hundred fifty-six gigs of storage, comes in four different colors, and will set you back twelve hundred dollars. [SPEAKER_01]: The Pixel Ten Pro, the Model I, would personally buy, has all the features of the XL, with a slightly smaller battery and but a six-point-three-inch display. [SPEAKER_01]: The base model's storage starts at one hundred and twenty-eight gigs and will cost you one thousand dollars.
[SPEAKER_01]: The regular Pixel Ten has a six point three in its display with a lower ten ADP resolution, but most people include myself probably wouldn't be able to easily tell the difference between it and the twelve ADP screen of the XL. [SPEAKER_01]: This poor person's Pixel Ten model comes with twelve gigs of RAM versus the sixteen gigs the Pro models come with, and the cameras aren't as high-end as the Pro pixels. [SPEAKER_01]: Would you notice this in real-world use?
[SPEAKER_01]: Most likely not. [SPEAKER_01]: Google actually added a third camera to the Pixel X. A ten point eight megapixel five times telephoto lens shooter. [SPEAKER_01]: Something Apple never did with its base model iPhone. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, the Pixel X has the same tense or G-five chip as the Pro Series, and that's another thing Apple doesn't do for its base model iPhone.
[SPEAKER_01]: The base model Pixel X comes with a twenty-fifty six gigs of storage, and will cost you eight hundred dollars, which really isn't a bad deal these days. [SPEAKER_03]: So why wouldn't you personally purchase this base model Pixel X over the Pixel X Pro? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I had the occasion to actually handle the Pixel Ten Pro XL, the Ten Pro, and the regular Pixel Ten, while at a T-Mobile store last Thursday.
[SPEAKER_01]: I found the XL model too large in the base model Pixel Ten's construction, lacking that solid feel I prefer. [SPEAKER_01]: The regular size Pixel Pro Ten was just a ride size and had a solid feel to it. [SPEAKER_01]: It looks and feels like a modern iPhone, which I'll detail more in the tech I'm using section. [SPEAKER_03]: Wait, you didn't wind up buying a Pixel Ten Pro, or did you? [SPEAKER_01]: No, I didn't buy one.
[SPEAKER_01]: Especially with the one whom must be obeyed present at the time. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not knocking the regular Pixel Ten here. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying that if I were in the market for a new Pixel phone and I'm not, and I could afford the extra tune of dollars at the Pro would cost, well I choose that model. [SPEAKER_01]: Now if I couldn't afford the Pixel Ten Pro, I'd gladly buy the regular Pixel Ten.
[SPEAKER_01]: Google also introduced the Google Pixel Fold, which, while on display at the T-Mobile Store, I didn't have a chance to get my hands on it. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, at this point I'm just not that interested in the foldable form factor. [SPEAKER_01]: The fold has sixteen gigs of RAM and two hundred fifty-six gigs of base storage. [SPEAKER_01]: A slightly larger six point four inch outboard screen, a larger battery and improved water and dust resistance. [SPEAKER_01]: The price?
[SPEAKER_01]: One thousand eight hundred of your hard earned dollars. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's just too much money for my taste. [SPEAKER_01]: The price of foldable phones are what's keeping this a form factor niche. [SPEAKER_01]: Moving along, the Google Pixel Buds IIA were shown. [SPEAKER_01]: It'll cost a hundred and thirty dollars, but can't be compared feature-wise with the more expensive AirPods Pro from Apple.
[SPEAKER_01]: And finally, the Google Pixel Watch IV was shown with a better display, upgraded chipset, improved fitness tracking, and a different charging method. [SPEAKER_01]: The forty-one millimeter watch starts at three hundred and fifty dollars and the larger forty-five millimeter model starts at three hundred and ninety nine dollars. [SPEAKER_01]: LTE connectivity is available for both models at an additional cost.
[SPEAKER_01]: While I'm intrigued with a round-shaped smart watch, I think the square-ish shape of the Apple Watch is more practical. [SPEAKER_01]: All in all it was more of a refinement year for Google with no radical hardware design changes [SPEAKER_01]: Google put more effort into the Android material UI this year. [SPEAKER_03]: It's gorgeous. [SPEAKER_01]: Nah. [SPEAKER_01]: Google describes it as being fantastic and beautiful.
[SPEAKER_01]: This should give the new Pixel models a leg up over the iPhone in Europe, where I've heard WhatsApp rules over all competing messaging apps. [SPEAKER_01]: In Asia, especially Southeast Asia. [SPEAKER_01]: Facebook Messenger is king and being meta-ones and operates both of these messaging apps. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, when surprised me if we saw an announcement that the Pixel Ten light-up also supports satellite voice and video calls from Messenger too.
[SPEAKER_01]: My question is, how much will this cost the consumer? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty sure a satellite communication doesn't come cheap. [SPEAKER_01]: Another article from nine to five Google.com, which is called Bloomberg.com, which had a recent sit down with the Big Geese Chief Design Officer that we should expect pixel redesigns every two to three years with no plan for a flip phone, and that the company's tablet plans are on pause.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, a two to three year gap in phone design is understandable. [SPEAKER_01]: Now let's face it. [SPEAKER_01]: The market for a flip phone is presently minuscule. [SPEAKER_01]: But the tablet market is something I have thought Google would be very interested in. [SPEAKER_01]: Especially when Google just announced that Chrome OS and Android would be combined into one entity.
[SPEAKER_01]: The CDO went on to say that the company will not be making a tablet until they find a, quote, meaningful future on quote for the category. [SPEAKER_01]: He was also quoted as saying that the pixel phone will never be a giant player in the smartphone market. [SPEAKER_01]: So the priority is the Android mobile operating system.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about you, but after reading this, and Google's propensity of just discontinuing products out of the blue, I'm sort of disweighted from buying Google Made Hardware. [SPEAKER_01]: What strange things to say during an interview? [SPEAKER_01]: While Google seems to be uninterested in the Android tablet market, it seems that Amazon is willing to pick up the slack.
[SPEAKER_01]: According to an article from Androidauthority.com, Amazon is working on a higher-end Android tablet codenamed Kitty Hawk. [SPEAKER_01]: This rubric tablet will run really Android not some forked version of it, and come in at a price for around four hundred dollars. [SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of expensive for Amazon, but compared to an iPad, it still would be reasonable, depending on the features that is.
[SPEAKER_01]: No details on the specifications were revealed, but at that cost, I'd expect them to compare to Samsung's tablet line. [SPEAKER_01]: If done correctly, I can see this Amazon tablet shaking up the Android tablet market, [SPEAKER_01]: Well time will tell. [SPEAKER_01]: Various news outlets are reporting that chipmaker and tell has agreed to sell the United States government a ten percent stake in their business.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now I understand why Trump has had a problem with Intel's current CEO who has some kind of communist Chinese ties. [SPEAKER_01]: I also understand why Intel would agree to letting the government buy a stake in their company. [SPEAKER_01]: That's because the once-king of chip foundries is steadily bleeding capital as becoming shadow of what it once was. [SPEAKER_01]: What I don't understand is why the government wants a stake in Intel in the first place.
[SPEAKER_01]: Could this be in order to head off any foreign purchase of Intel in the future? [SPEAKER_01]: Or could it be that future combat drones will support the Intel inside sticker on them? [SPEAKER_01]: You tell me, we're times we're living in. [SPEAKER_01]: If you're a steady listener to this podcast, heck, even if you're not, then you'd know about the giant fruit companies problem with a little firm name, Massimo, offer patents for blood oxygen monitoring sensors.
[SPEAKER_01]: Back in twenty twenty three, Massimo even managed to get a judgment against Apple, which prohibits them from selling Apple watches with blood oxygen monitoring capability within the United States. [SPEAKER_01]: Recently Apple announced an end to this restriction, which sees blood monitoring calculated not on the UI itself, but on the iPhone. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a bit of dirty pool there, if you ask me.
[SPEAKER_01]: According to a nine to five Mac.com, in response to this development, Masimo is suing U.S. [SPEAKER_01]: Customs, which in reality doesn't exist. [SPEAKER_01]: It's been since renamed Customs in Border Protection, claiming that the CBP overstips its authority and violated due process by allowing Apple to restore the feature. [SPEAKER_01]: To add insult to injury, Masimo says it only found out about the decision when Apple announced the return of the feature.
[SPEAKER_01]: Massimo is asking for a temporary restraining order and an injunction to block CBP's decision, thus reinstating the original ruling. [SPEAKER_01]: Why would like to see blood oxygen monitoring make a return to Apple Watches? [SPEAKER_01]: Massimo has a good point here. [SPEAKER_01]: In order to process the results of blood oxygen monitoring on an iPhone, Apple has to first use the Apple Watches sensors to obtain that data.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the sensors technology patents are what the original rulings were based upon. [SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately for Apple, I think Masimo's latest lawsuit will be successful, and Apple will have to remove the workaround. [SPEAKER_01]: I think this whole issue could be resolved with a boatload of money. [SPEAKER_01]: If Apple winds up losing this new lawsuit, perhaps that boatload of cash will finally depart the port of Cupertino and set sail towards Masimo.
[SPEAKER_01]: The iPhone XI-E is rumored to finally leave the notch behind as they headline from Apple Insider.com, quoting a leaker from Chinese social media platform Weibo. [SPEAKER_01]: The leaker claims that the iPhone XI-E which is predicted to be released in May of next year will still have a six-point-one-inch display with a these days poultry sixty-hurt screen refresh rate. [SPEAKER_01]: But, replace the controversial front screen camera notch with a dynamic island.
[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, the Seventeen E will also get the latest and greatest A-nineteen chip. [SPEAKER_01]: Being that the iPhone XVI E replace the SE, with both models based on older versions of iPhones, well, this kind of makes sense. [SPEAKER_01]: Sixteenies based on the iPhone XIV. [SPEAKER_01]: So the seventeen E can conceivably be based on the iPhone XIV or maybe sixteen series of iPhones.
[SPEAKER_01]: If this all pans out, the E series of iPhones have taken one step further to becoming my iPhone of choice. [SPEAKER_01]: Just add a one hundred twenty-hurt screen refresh rate and I'm sold. [SPEAKER_01]: Tech I'm using, well, more like Tech I've given. [SPEAKER_01]: Last episode, I had a teaser about a new piece of tech coming to the OF&T household.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, my son John, celebrated a birthday last Tuesday and I bought him an iPhone XVI E, along with a MagSafe case for the occasion. [SPEAKER_01]: The XVI E will replace the iPhone SE he's been using for three more years now. [SPEAKER_01]: While he loved the SE, that model won't be getting many of the cool iOS' twenty-six features coming in September, and iOS' twenty-six will most likely be the last operating system update his a twenty-twenty-two SE will receive.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because of the age of the SE, we had to go through the closest T-Mobile store, which is about a forty-minute drive, believe it or not. [SPEAKER_01]: In order to get the new, sixteen-y activated on their network, this also gave me the opportunity to have a hands-on with the new Google Pixel Ten series of phones, which the T-Mobile store already had on display, which I considered an added bonus. [SPEAKER_01]: My impressions of the Pixel Ten were in the Tech News section, of course.
[SPEAKER_01]: My first impressions of the iPhone XVI-E, were mostly positive. [SPEAKER_01]: Like the Pixel X, the design of the XVI is clean and very nice in my opinion. [SPEAKER_01]: In fact, except for the Pixel's camera bar, the phones could be mistaken for one other while viewing them from the rear. [SPEAKER_01]: The XVI is very light compared to my iPhone XVI Pro Max, but of course it would be. [SPEAKER_01]: The last poor person's iPhone that I carried around was the iPhone XIII.
[SPEAKER_01]: That too was very light, but didn't feel as solid as the XVI does. [SPEAKER_01]: And my favorite iPhone of all time was the twenty eleven iPhone four S mostly because of its solid feel. [SPEAKER_01]: The sixteen E reminds me of the four S in this regard and also the aforementioned clean design.
[SPEAKER_01]: The OLED screen of the sixteen E is bright enough for most conditions except outside and bright sunlight, but those conditions only occur randomly for this family due to our lifestyle. [SPEAKER_01]: We're not the outdoorsy types.
[SPEAKER_01]: The phone is snappy and I could tell no difference in speed between my fifteen pro and the sixteen E. My son hasn't gotten around to taking any photos with his new phone yet, but I'm pretty sure the results would be better than the Gen III SE he's been using. [SPEAKER_01]: As is known, the sixteen E still has the notch instead of the dynamic island on its display. [SPEAKER_01]: But for normal use, the notch is just fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I still prefer the dynamic island, but most users, including my son, probably don't care about that. [SPEAKER_01]: The XVIe features a six-point-one-inch OLED display versus the four-point-seven LCD screen of the SE. [SPEAKER_01]: Though the screen is much larger, the XVIe as a whole is only a little over a quarter inch larger than the SE. [SPEAKER_01]: Another thing the XVIe doesn't have is the MagSafe feature.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why Apple didn't just throw this in because all Magsafe is basically, is a magnet. [SPEAKER_01]: The inexpensive Magsafe case I purchased along with the phone fits perfectly. [SPEAKER_01]: I tested the Magsafe case with the XVIE in close within it. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to my Magsafe charging stations and it worked perfectly. [SPEAKER_02]: But isn't the actual wireless charging speed much slower on the iPhone XVIE than regular iPhones?
[SPEAKER_01]: Magsafe and Quickphones can wirelessly charge it up to fifteen watts while the sixteen-e can only charge it seven point five watts. [SPEAKER_01]: But realistically the battery life of the sixteen-e can last a full day of normal use. [SPEAKER_01]: Many most users will charge their phones overnight while they sleep. [SPEAKER_01]: Seven point five watch should be more than adequate to fully charge the phone in that period of time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Besides the upgraded camera, larger display in the A-A-T chip, the base X-T-N-E has a hundred twenty-eight gigabytes of storage, which is double the amount of the old SE. [SPEAKER_01]: There are many more improvements over the SEC, and I feel the extra one hundred and seventy dollars you'd spend on a sixteen E are well worth it. [SPEAKER_01]: You get a thoroughly modern iPhone, but script of the features most users don't use any way.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's our reported in the tech section. [SPEAKER_01]: Next year's iPhone's Seventeen E display might feature a dynamic island instead of a notch. [SPEAKER_01]: When this E series of iPhones get a one hundred twenty hertz screen refresh rate promotion display, [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I can see myself opting for this phone series instead of the pro versions I find myself carrying around now. [SPEAKER_01]: My phone use case has changed since I retired from working life.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not out and about as much these days, and I'm seldom out of reach of a larger screened apple divisive needed. [SPEAKER_01]: Besides, this would give me an excuse to upgrade my current apple watch to an apple watch ultra. [SPEAKER_04]: You are a sneaky devil on you. [SPEAKER_01]: So I've been told many of the iPhone's features are rumored to be coming to the Ultra series of watches real soon now. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll be purchasing another iPhone's X-Teen E this fall.
[SPEAKER_03]: Autumn. [SPEAKER_01]: Right, Autumn, for my eldest daughter's birthday. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure she'll be quite happy with it. [SPEAKER_01]: She was using in iPhone XR until recently, but unfortunately, it was stolen New York's New York all crime. [SPEAKER_01]: And so what's your take on the iPhone XVIE? [SPEAKER_01]: Entertainment news. [SPEAKER_01]: I create mainstream news outlets as entertainment these days, and yes, that includes Fox News.
[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of fact-based reporting, the overwhelming majority of these operations instead use opinion where at gender-based reporting. [SPEAKER_01]: I noticed this starting to happen during the mid-nineteen-eighties, but this phenomenon accelerated during the Obama years in the amending of the smith-mund act of twenty-twelve. [SPEAKER_01]: The original act of nineteen forty-eight, forbid broadcasts from disseminating propaganda within the United States.
[SPEAKER_01]: This so-called smith-mund modernization act of twenty-twelve ended that propaganda restriction. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, why would the powers that be do this? [SPEAKER_01]: My best guess would be to control the narrative, as the cool kid say. [SPEAKER_01]: Also contributing to this agenda-based reporting, it's a shift in the type of person becoming a journalist these days. [SPEAKER_01]: Previously, a journalist job was considered a semi-blue collar job.
[SPEAKER_01]: Over time, this has shifted to journalists being Ivy League college educated. [SPEAKER_01]: Instead of teaching basic journalism, these J schools are pumping out leftist activists instead of journalists who consider their primary job as to be changing society to their particular ideology instead of reporting actual facts. [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't need to tell you what that ideology is. [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome, Comrade.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you watch the mainstream news and have half a brain, this shift will be readily apparent to you. [SPEAKER_01]: The shift over the years is that news reporting was considered a public service. [SPEAKER_01]: Now the news has become a profit-driven enterprise and the endless pharmaceutical advertisements during these news broadcasts. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that was one of the promises made during the election cycle.
[SPEAKER_01]: Perhaps he'll eventually get around to fulfilling that promise. [SPEAKER_01]: We can only hope. [SPEAKER_01]: The public at large finally started becoming aware of this change around twenty sixteen and some even started keeping an eye on the news industry. [SPEAKER_01]: Video montages of reporters from widely different news organizations mounting the same exact talking points started appearing on YouTube in podcasts regularly.
[SPEAKER_01]: The whole COVID thing exposed this situation fully. [SPEAKER_01]: One of the most odious of news organizations. [SPEAKER_01]: No, MSNBC, lovingly referred to as MSDNC. [SPEAKER_01]: The DNC standing for Democratic National Committee by many has just introduced a new name and logo as a prepare to spin off from NBC News. [SPEAKER_01]: MSNBC launches a joint venture between NBC News and Microsoft back in nineteen ninety-six.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was supposed to be a way for the younger generations to get their news in a cool and hip-way. [SPEAKER_01]: While Microsoft divested their interest in MSNBC in, in the channel became closely associated with NBC News, morphing into a channel with mostly opinion-based content, which was once known as an editorial. [SPEAKER_01]: In fact, news programs would announce that the upcoming content was the opinion of the station, not factual news. [SPEAKER_04]: They sure are.
[SPEAKER_01]: By the two thousands, MSNBC had shifted to broadcasting opinion based news reporting exclusively. [SPEAKER_01]: Never really competitive, the network got an audience boost in twenty sixteen after the election of President Trump. [SPEAKER_01]: MSNBC, along with the once-great CNN, became the, quote, resistance news networks. [SPEAKER_01]: And broadcast their hate for Trump, twenty-four-seven.
[SPEAKER_01]: MSNBC was best known at this time as being the top pervehers of the since-disproven Russia-gate hoax. [SPEAKER_01]: Constantly making allegations which were never proven that the newly elected Trump was in agent of Russia after the election of President Biden. [SPEAKER_00]: And, um, um, I'm on my own here. [SPEAKER_01]: MSNBC became a cheerleader for the new president and his Democratic Party as a whole. [SPEAKER_01]: No lead up to the twenty twenty four national elections.
[SPEAKER_01]: MSNBC became so toxic towards the Trump and his supporters that even many of their regular viewers were turned off. [SPEAKER_01]: When Trump was reelected, instead of another bump in audience numbers like in twenty sixteen, he was ship dropped some forty percent. [SPEAKER_01]: NBC News itself hemorrhaging money wanted nothing to do with MSNBC and its toxic reputation. [SPEAKER_01]: So it was decided to spin off the now-low-rated news outlet.
[SPEAKER_01]: This after the firing of a number of the network's most toxic news readers, [SPEAKER_01]: resident racist joy read being the most infamous. [SPEAKER_01]: Well last week MSNBC was renamed to MSNow, which stands for my source news opinion world. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: At least the new title accurately contains the word news opinion, because that's all this channel is. [SPEAKER_01]: News opinion, not news facts.
[SPEAKER_01]: The new logo looks like it was created by ChatGPT. [SPEAKER_01]: It features MS now on a red, white, and blue background. [SPEAKER_01]: The colors of the U.S. [SPEAKER_01]: flag, but of course, this background isn't really resemble the nation flag. [SPEAKER_01]: Heaven forbid the new logo resemble a nation flag that would be a sin against the ideology of the place. [SPEAKER_01]: Predictions are dower from other media outlets for the future of MS now.
[SPEAKER_01]: Without the resources of NBC News, many predict that MSNow will slowly fade away. [SPEAKER_01]: And in my opinion, it couldn't happen to a worse news channel. [SPEAKER_01]: Another week, another streaming service price increase. [SPEAKER_01]: This time, it's Apple TV pluses a turn to increase its monthly subscription price. [SPEAKER_01]: Starting on August twenty first, subscribers will pay twelve dollars in ninety-nine cents per month.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's up from nine dollars in ninety-nine cents per month. [SPEAKER_02]: What? [SPEAKER_01]: That's a three dollar per month price increase. [SPEAKER_01]: Apple TV launched in twenty nineteen for four dollars in ninety-nine cents per month, which was a bargain. [SPEAKER_01]: Though there wasn't much to watch on the new service. [SPEAKER_01]: Big money deal with Oprah Winfrey and PBS didn't help bring in more subscriptions.
[SPEAKER_01]: But over the years Apple has built up a nice stable of original movies and television series. [SPEAKER_01]: In twenty-twenty-two, Apple increased subscription prices to six dollars in ninety-nine cents per month. [SPEAKER_01]: Then in twenty-twenty-four, increase this price to nine dollars in ninety-nine cents.
[SPEAKER_01]: This after adding MLB baseball and professional soccer to its lineup, speaking of which, it appears Apple is out of the bidding process for a Sunday night baseball and might even jettison its current Friday night baseball. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, with the subpar announcers Apple has for front and night baseball, nobody's probably watching it unless their favorite team happens to be playing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, the only good news here is that Apple won plans, subscribers, which bundles together various Apple services. [SPEAKER_01]: Apple TV being one of them will not see this price increase in their monthly bill. [SPEAKER_01]: Yet, as I've said before, these streaming prices are getting totally out of control. [SPEAKER_01]: I recently cancelled my peacock subscription and even got rid of a lot of apps subscriptions I had. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure I'm not alone in doing this either.
[SPEAKER_01]: Podcast News I know that I had promised not to talk about audio interfaces in the last episode. [SPEAKER_04]: Are you saying that you're breaking that promise? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and no. [SPEAKER_01]: This is just a short update, not a full-blown thing. [SPEAKER_01]: I had complained of a hissing noise in the headphone out pit of my new audio interface. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, again, this was due to a software setting that I eventually figured out, which solved the issue.
[SPEAKER_01]: Overall, I was pleased with the audio of Episode Two Eighty Two, except for the intro where my voice sounded different for some reason. [SPEAKER_01]: most likely due to post processing software. [SPEAKER_01]: So this should be my last report on audio interfaces until I decided my final choice of one. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_01]: Another list of the best podcasts in the world has dropped.
[SPEAKER_01]: This time from left of dial, the name of the organization accurately for tells its bias. [SPEAKER_01]: Of the one hundred or so podcasts listed, I'd only heard of seventeen of them, had listened to only seven of them, and actually liked, but three of them. [SPEAKER_01]: The list was populated by the usual suspects, you know, those produced by NPR, the New York Times, etc. [SPEAKER_01]: The shows on this list that I actually listened to were, the Joe Rogan Experience.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, though included this time was tied for last place. [SPEAKER_01]: That figures. [SPEAKER_01]: Pivot. [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome, Comrade. [SPEAKER_01]: Conan Nebrion needs a friend. [SPEAKER_01]: Wolf, three, fifty-nine, and welcome to Nightfale. [SPEAKER_04]: It's fabulous. [SPEAKER_04]: That is, if you're into that lifestyle. [SPEAKER_01]: WTF in this American life, which was rated as the number one podcast of all time.
[SPEAKER_01]: The only podcast on that list that I actually liked enough to listen more than once were the Joe Rogan experience, Conan Brian needs a friend, and my favorite that made the list, Wolf, a three, fifty-nine. [SPEAKER_01]: Most of the other shows on the list are better suited for those of the highly educated class if you get my drift. [SPEAKER_01]: I think the podcast listener's awards are happening soon.
