[SPEAKER_02]: a factual data creation facility production. [SPEAKER_02]: I can't believe you've chosen me for the intro, but here we go, recorded live, but judging by appearances, barely, it's the OFNT podcast. [SPEAKER_02]: Now here's your host, a man who's a founding member of the Petriarchy, Jim Shafer. [SPEAKER_01]: Come on, now I'm at that old. [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the OFNT podcast episode 295, which I'm calling, Apple Rumour Reporting.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Apple rumor mill has been burning at full capacity lately, filling in my newsfeed with rumors of future products. [SPEAKER_01]: At the same time, Android news outlets seem to be fixated on black Friday shopping deals. [SPEAKER_01]: I really wish we had more mobile operating system diversity these days. [SPEAKER_02]: Ah well, I guess I'll get things going now. [SPEAKER_01]: Tech News. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a follow-up on something I reported on a couple of episodes ago.
[SPEAKER_01]: Many of the new rumors concerning our favorite giant fruit company lately. [SPEAKER_02]: I assume you're referring to Apple. [SPEAKER_01]: Correct, are about the iPhone's rapidly approaching 20th anniversary, which will happen in 2027, and what that anniversary edition iPhone will look like. [SPEAKER_01]: The Apple is indeed working on this model, it's still early days and the authors of these articles are using somewhat obscure sources at this point in time.
[SPEAKER_01]: An example of this is an article from MacRumors.com. [SPEAKER_01]: So far, rumors point to an all-glass lab format for this currently mythical iPhone, complete with cascading glass sides. [SPEAKER_01]: Think of those Samsung Edge phones of your. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not clear if the display will also cascade along with the slideshow. [SPEAKER_01]: I hope not because the displays of equipped those old Samsung Edge phones did just that, and they proved to be a problem for users.
[SPEAKER_01]: Apps were launched on the phone unintentionally due to false screen touches when users were doing things like, well, I don't know, putting their phones in their pockets, for example. [SPEAKER_01]: And never mind finding a good case to help protect your expensive new, all glass iPhone. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll listen to you here some employed by Kubitino who can figure out a way to protect day, guess getting displayed from these false touches.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that remains to be seen at this point. [SPEAKER_01]: The article from Mac Rumors I'm referencing here concerns a front-mounted camera, also known as the selfie camera. [SPEAKER_01]: According to a Chinese waybo account called Digital Chat Station, who'll name, this front-facing [SPEAKER_01]: At first I was somewhat confused by this. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's not so uncommon for an old geezer such as yourself, you know. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't disagree with that statement.
[SPEAKER_01]: The front-facing camera on current iPhones is already mounted under glass. [SPEAKER_01]: But what we're talking about here is the camera being mounted under the actual display, making it virtually invisible. [SPEAKER_01]: I hear tell that some Android phones already do this, but the quality of the photos these cameras produced are not as good as traditionally mounted selfie cameras.
[SPEAKER_01]: Supposedly next year's iPhone 18 will hide the Face ID hardware under the display, which will most likely reduce the size of the Dynamic Island. [SPEAKER_01]: Once Apple can figure out mounting the front camera under the display, it would be no need for the Dynamic Island at all. [SPEAKER_01]: You just have an uninterrupted display.
[SPEAKER_01]: However, J.P. Morgan is reporting that Apple's first foldable iPhone will debut this under [SPEAKER_01]: Yet another rumor about this camera is that it will wield a mighty 24 megapixels. [SPEAKER_01]: Current under the display cameras typically use a 4 or 8 megapixel camera. [SPEAKER_01]: Another tidbit concerning this 20th anniversary iPhone is, like the 10th anniversary iPhone, Apple will skip a number and call it the iPhone 20.
[SPEAKER_01]: Normally, 2027's iPhone would have been the iPhone 19. [SPEAKER_01]: If you recall, Apple skipped the iPhone 9 and labelled the 10th anniversary iPhone the Roman numeral for 10, which is what we all know as the letter X. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll just have to be patient and wait and see if any of these rumors prove to be true. [SPEAKER_01]: The closer we get to the release date, the more we'll know. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, will I be tempted to purchase one of these all glass iPhones?
[SPEAKER_01]: At the moment, no. [SPEAKER_02]: As I've said before, and I'm sure over and over again. [SPEAKER_01]: My mobile phone usage has changed since retiring. [SPEAKER_01]: I just want a need of phone that covers the basics, which are calling, texting, video chatting with a great sufficiently sized display. [SPEAKER_01]: And I definitely don't want a foldable phone. [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: Then again, I might be tempted by a foldable flip style iPhone.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, time will tell. [SPEAKER_01]: iOS 26.1 drop recently in iOS 26.2 developers beta dropped later the same day. [SPEAKER_01]: Nine to five mag has an article which reports that Apple has refined the health-absleep score grading. [SPEAKER_01]: Now this upgrade doesn't change how your sleep rate is actually determined. [SPEAKER_01]: That remains the same. [SPEAKER_01]: This update changes how that data is presented to you.
[SPEAKER_01]: It seems that Apple Health was being too generous with the grading of the quality of sleep users we're getting. [SPEAKER_01]: And with this dot 2 update, it has corrected this. [SPEAKER_01]: I just started wearing my Apple watch along with my aura ring while sleeping, and I can attest to this, more on that in the tech I'm using section. [SPEAKER_01]: Like the rest of this latest iOS update, this is an incremental change, and in my opinion, it's for the better.
[SPEAKER_01]: 9 to 5 Mac and other outlets are reporting that the second generation of the iPhone Air is delayed until 2027. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh no! [SPEAKER_01]: This delay is to give Apple the time to redesign the phone so that a second camera can be added. [SPEAKER_01]: Last week I reported that Apple was planning on adding that second wide-angle shooter to the next generation iPhone Air. [SPEAKER_01]: The article states that it's unclear if Spring of 27 is even an attainable deadline.
[SPEAKER_01]: Another reason for this delay is the fact that the iPhone lineup is becoming increasingly crowded. [SPEAKER_01]: The Apple Foldable iPhone is expected to launch next year, and if the second generation of the air were to launch at the same time, well, we'd have five different iPhone models all launch at the same time next September. [SPEAKER_01]: This could lead to consumer confusion.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's been previously predicted that the base model iPhone would move its launch date from September 2 spring, along with the iPhone E-series of phones. [SPEAKER_01]: But wouldn't it make more sense to move the air into that slot? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Especially now that the air could be delayed. [SPEAKER_01]: The affordable MacBook that's rumored to be coming in the spring would pair nicely with the announcement of the new E-series of phones.
[SPEAKER_01]: Perhaps we'll be seeing a small event at that time. [SPEAKER_01]: My opinion is that going forward, the base model foldable Pro and Pro Max iPhones will be introduced in the normal autumn time frame, while new models of the Air and E-Series phones, along with updates to that low-cost MacBook, would be introduced in the spring. [SPEAKER_02]: What is Apple going to do when they finally get around to manufacturing a flip-style foldable iPhone then?
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I don't pretend to have any inside information, but the Flip style iPhone would most likely be lower in the price and features in the book style foldable format iPhone that's expected to be introduced next year. [SPEAKER_01]: If that's a case, the Flip form factors first generation would be introduced in September then move to a spring introduction time frame thereafter. [SPEAKER_01]: It's all getting a bit overly complicated, isn't it? [SPEAKER_02]: Yes?
[SPEAKER_01]: Next year's iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models besides moving the Face ID under the display, which will have the effect of shrinking the dynamic island, or expect it to be thicker and heavier than the current iPhone 17 Pro series. [SPEAKER_01]: This information comes from an article on Mac Roomers. [SPEAKER_01]: The article quotes another one of those Chinese-based sources. [SPEAKER_01]: Get another Ouibo account.
[SPEAKER_01]: This one named instant digital, and it claims that the increase in dimensions are to make room for a larger battery. [SPEAKER_02]: At least that's a good enough reason. [SPEAKER_01]: Agreed. [SPEAKER_01]: The increase weight would put the next year's Pro Max into the iPhone 14 Pro Max Territory, which currently holds the crown for being the heaviest iPhone ever.
[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, instant digital predicts at the iPhone 18 Pro will steal the crown by exceeding the 240g weight of the 14 Pro Max. [SPEAKER_01]: Other additions to next year's Pro Max were predicted to be. [SPEAKER_01]: A variable aperture camera lens using a stacked image sensor. [SPEAKER_01]: And a new type of vapor chamber made from aluminum. [SPEAKER_01]: The cumulative effect of these changes could be the reason for this increase in thickness and weight.
[SPEAKER_02]: And most likely price. [SPEAKER_01]: No doubt of the iPhone 18 Pro Max. [SPEAKER_01]: I won't be upgrading my iPhone next year, and even if I were, I'd be getting a base model iPhone. [SPEAKER_01]: Or even an easy-rezyphone. [SPEAKER_01]: My lovely wife? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, she said on a foldable iPhone. [SPEAKER_01]: After that, she'd probably be going with a flip-style iPhone. [SPEAKER_01]: You hear that sound?
[SPEAKER_01]: That's my back account letting me know how it feels about all of this talk of future spending. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how you feel about digital ID, but I'm pretty much against it. [SPEAKER_01]: Having said that, according to 95 Mac, one of our ecosystem overlords Apple has just launched a new digital ID feature which uses your US passport. [SPEAKER_01]: This digital passport joins digital driver's licenses, which are recognized in some states, but not all.
[SPEAKER_02]: At least not at the present time. [SPEAKER_01]: These digital IDs are all part of the Apple digital wallet on your iPhone. [SPEAKER_01]: Unlike countries such as China and perhaps soon the United Kingdom, this digital ID is not mandatory. [SPEAKER_02]: At least not yet. [SPEAKER_01]: Instead of making digital IDs mandatory, which would see a lot of resistance in this country, they'll just let the tech companies slowly implement this using convenience as an excuse.
[SPEAKER_01]: Eventually, the government will step in and pass a mislabeled law, like the Safe ID Act or something. [SPEAKER_01]: And before you know what digital ID will indeed become mandatory, the law will bring with it other things like banks only accepting digital ID in order to do business with them, social credit scores and much, much more. [SPEAKER_01]: The groundwork for digital currency has already been laid, and it's just a matter of time before that's also implemented.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, about control after all, a controlled populace is a virtually pun intended, a problem-free populace. [SPEAKER_01]: Problem-free for the ruling elite that is, I know I won't be putting any of my government issued IDMI phone, but about you. [SPEAKER_01]: If you've been eagerly awaiting the release of Samsung's Galaxy Z tri-fold phone, well, here's some good news for you. [SPEAKER_01]: You won't be waiting much longer.
[SPEAKER_01]: According to 95 Google, this tri-fold-month throcity, which I discussed a bit last week, will be announced during a launch event on December 5th, with sales starting immediately afterward. [SPEAKER_01]: Heck, that's less than a month away. [SPEAKER_02]: What the hell? [SPEAKER_01]: And no, thank you. [SPEAKER_01]: But that prize you could buy yourself a trick out this top or laptop computer. [SPEAKER_01]: That would be more powerful and last year a lot longer.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even if this phone is going to be your main computing device, you'll probably have to replace it within three years or perhaps sooner. [SPEAKER_01]: But if you have what's called FU money, this will matter to you. [SPEAKER_01]: Will it? [SPEAKER_02]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: A while back, I reported that Google was restricting the sideloading of apps on the Android mobile operating system, unless those apps have gone through the big G's Android developer verification process successfully.
[SPEAKER_01]: Following a bit of backlash, Google says it will allow users to sideload apps, as long as a sign-up per its yet to be introduced advanced flow program to do so. [SPEAKER_01]: This new program is targeted mainly at developers and hobbyists. [SPEAKER_01]: None of this affects normal Android users. [SPEAKER_01]: They've been using and will continue using the official Google Play Store. [SPEAKER_01]: And my opinion that's the safe and smartest way to go.
[SPEAKER_01]: The only app that I ever side loaded on my Android phone was the Messaging app telegram. [SPEAKER_01]: And that was back in what I finally remember being [SPEAKER_01]: The day, telegram release first for iOS, then Windows Phone, and finally Android. [SPEAKER_01]: I was walking multiple phones back then and I saw telegram as a way to have one messaging app for all the various operating systems I was using.
[SPEAKER_01]: And using telegram I could receive messages no matter what phone I happen to be carrying at the time. [SPEAKER_01]: Boy, have things changed since those days? [SPEAKER_02]: I'd say. [SPEAKER_01]: I no longer use multiple phones or even use telegram any longer. [SPEAKER_01]: My son still does, as he still has contacts at use it as their main messaging app.
[SPEAKER_01]: Besides the times, telegram itself has changed, becoming not just a messaging app, but a fully featured social media platform. [SPEAKER_01]: And you know how I feel about social media as a whole? [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, what does this have to do with the side loading of apps on to Android? [SPEAKER_01]: Not a thing. [SPEAKER_01]: I just enjoy rambling on as many within my age bracket tend to do.
[SPEAKER_01]: Tech I'm using, that's been a little over two weeks since I started wearing my Apple Watch while sleeping. [SPEAKER_01]: The addition to wanting to check out how the sleep tracker of the watch compares to that of my over smart ring, the aura itself had started getting kind of wonky lately.
[SPEAKER_01]: Not so much for sleep tracking, but it became way off with tracking activity as an exercising and in data sharing with other health focus apps, especially the Peloton app, [SPEAKER_01]: Since then, I've received a couple of firmware updates for the ring, and also a huge software updated and included a massive redesign of the user interface. [SPEAKER_01]: The jury is still out on the new UI design.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it looks beautiful, but as of now, I feel the functionality isn't as good as that of the old UI. [SPEAKER_01]: But that just might be me. [SPEAKER_01]: These updates have improved the activity tracking a bit too. [SPEAKER_01]: So far, the orerring sleep tracking has been far superior to that of the Apple Watch. [SPEAKER_01]: On days that I knew I had a rough night of sleeping, Apple Health reported I had a good night.
[SPEAKER_01]: Apple Health also reports my blood oxygen levels hovering around 90%. [SPEAKER_01]: Which is considered somewhat low. [SPEAKER_01]: On my aura ring usually pigs it at 96%. [SPEAKER_02]: So, which of the two do you consider more accurate? [SPEAKER_01]: Hands down the R-Ring. [SPEAKER_01]: The old Fart Household is in possession of a medical grade pulse aximeter. [SPEAKER_01]: A quite a great expense during the pandemic. [SPEAKER_01]: China!
[SPEAKER_01]: And the R is blood oxygen readings line up with that unit. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm guessing that the R-Ring's closer fit has to do with this discrepancy. [SPEAKER_01]: Thought a ring moves around on my finger a bit during my sleep. [SPEAKER_02]: So, what's your conclusion? [SPEAKER_01]: My conclusion is that the R-Ring is superior for tracking sleep and other vitals, while the Apple Watch is better for tracking activity and for sharing data with other apps.
[SPEAKER_01]: However, if you don't have access nor the financial means to purchase a smart ring like the R-R-R, but you do have and use an Apple Watch, well this is better than having nothing at all. [SPEAKER_01]: This little experiment of mine also suggests that Apple who takes health very seriously should [SPEAKER_02]: But wouldn't an Apple smart ring interfere with smart watch sales?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: But I'm sure enough nerds like myself would wind up purchasing both a smart ring and a smart watch from the giant fruit company. [SPEAKER_01]: And while the health monitoring features were to intersect, the Apple watch has features that the ring cannot replicate, at least with the convenience of the watch. [SPEAKER_01]: Like notifications and making and receiving calls. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, what I buy an Apple Smart Ring to replace my aura?
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the Apple Smart Ring would have to bring some must-have feature that the aura ring doesn't have. [SPEAKER_01]: But that feature would be, well, I have no idea. [SPEAKER_01]: I've been using an aura ring for five years now, and if I switched to another brand of Smart Ring, all that accumulated historical data would be lost.
[SPEAKER_01]: Besides, while new users of aura rings are required to pay a monthly subscription price in order to get the most out of it, I'm considered a legacy user. [SPEAKER_01]: So as long as I stay within the aura ecosystem, that monthly subscription charge is waived. [SPEAKER_02]: Perhaps you could consider wearing two smart rings? [SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm not a jewelry wearing type of guy. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, it took me long enough to get used to wearing my aura ring.
[SPEAKER_01]: Entertainment News Apple's head of services, Mr. ADQ recently had an interview with Screen International, and was asked if the Apple TV streaming service would introduce an ad-supported tier in the future. [SPEAKER_01]: Mr. Q replied, quote, nothing at this time. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, I don't want to say no forever, but there are no plans on quote. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we'll just see about that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even back in the Steve Jobs' days, Apple has been interested in getting into the ad-biz, as old as in a no-callet. [SPEAKER_01]: Wrong! [SPEAKER_01]: At the time, Google had a stranglehold on advertisements. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, some would argue that they still do, causing Apple to back off of their plans. [SPEAKER_01]: It just wouldn't have been economical for them to enter the Ed business at that time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Apple does have content-related adverts on their App Store, and have just announced that ads are coming to Apple Maps. [SPEAKER_01]: Judging by Mr. Q's statement to screen international, not only are ads not being ruled out for Apple TV, but I believe they're on the table. [SPEAKER_01]: A table located somewhere deep inside Apple headquarters. [SPEAKER_01]: Before you know it, advertisements will be displayed everywhere you look.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just like those dystopian sci-fi movies have long depicted. [SPEAKER_01]: Just about every couple of weeks we see me hear about some streaming servers raising their subscription prices. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, unfortunately, I have one more streaming service to add to the list this week. [SPEAKER_01]: This time it's Paramount Plus's turn to jack up to subscription price.
[SPEAKER_01]: These new pricing creases will see the Antsupported and premium tier subscription prices increase by one hard earned dollar per month, and the yearly subscription prices for both tiers will also be raised. [SPEAKER_01]: A pair to other streaming services? [SPEAKER_01]: This price hike could be considered a timid. [SPEAKER_01]: Paramount just paid $7.7 billion to become the new home of the UFC fighting network, so it's probably explains this price increase.
[SPEAKER_01]: Along with these streaming services, elevation of subscription pricing, I expect we'll see content piracy rates also rising. [SPEAKER_01]: Paramount Plus's new pricing will come into effect on January 15th, 2026. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, because I am a Walmart Plus subscriber, of which I just renewed my subscription, I currently pay $60 per year for the premium tier of Paramount Plus.
[SPEAKER_01]: My humble household, hopefully myself, does watch a lot of content on Paramount Plus, so [SPEAKER_01]: At 60 bucks, it's still well worth the price. [SPEAKER_01]: Check back what me next year to see what I'll be asked to pay for a pound-on-pluss, and if it's still considered worthwhile. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I'll put it on my calendar. [SPEAKER_01]: You do that. [SPEAKER_01]: What could be a preemptive strike against the rising content piracy I just mentioned?
[SPEAKER_01]: Amazon Fire TV devices will no longer allow users to side load apps that are known to be used for piracy. [SPEAKER_01]: Even if you have older Fire TV devices that you've downloaded apps considered by Amazon to provide access to Pirated Content, [SPEAKER_01]: Or somehow managed to sideload the tabs until your new Fire TV devices, Amazon will block those apps, and this is from an article on 9 to 5 Google.
[SPEAKER_01]: Years ago, many of my co-workers used Amazon Firestix for streaming. [SPEAKER_01]: And now I know why. [SPEAKER_01]: None of them will ever let me in on the Piracy [SPEAKER_01]: I guess this can be considered bad news for those who depend on pirated content for their entertainment needs. [SPEAKER_01]: At least until some enterprising person or a group of persons, figure out a way to get around all the roadblocks thrown up in order to thwart the pirating of content.
[SPEAKER_01]: tune in and app that pioneered live streaming internet and broadcast radio stations as well as carrying podcasts has been sold to the stingray group. [SPEAKER_01]: Stingray is a large music and video content distribution corporation. [SPEAKER_01]: The price? [SPEAKER_01]: A poultry $150 million, plus another 25 million bucks after 12 months. [SPEAKER_01]: I say poultry because lately, deals such as this can reach billions of dollars.
[SPEAKER_01]: The key here is that this purchase will turn stingray into an advertisement, a solution powerhouse. [SPEAKER_01]: Tune in maintains an index of more than 100,000 radio stations, podcasts, music channels, news, sports, and audio book services. [SPEAKER_01]: Tune in comes standard with many car audio systems. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what being one of them, and an over 200 other platforms. [SPEAKER_01]: It boasts over 75 million active listeners per month, and I used to be one of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: My favorite channels were Soma FM underground 80s music station, and the old Art Bell Internet radio station. [SPEAKER_01]: Art Bell station went downhill after his death and no longer exists. [SPEAKER_01]: Three years I used tune in for listening while working the overnight shift. [SPEAKER_01]: The last time I used tune in regularly was on my long drives between New York and Tennessee while looking for an eventually finding a new place to relocate to.
[SPEAKER_01]: Once this sale is final, Tune in will operate as an independent entity, as it does now. [SPEAKER_02]: We'll see how long that situation lasts. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure the biggest change to Tune in will be even more advertisements. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll be for if again, podnews.net was the source for this story. [SPEAKER_01]: podcast news of all the social media platforms that I thought would get into audio podcasting.
[SPEAKER_01]: Social media platform TikTok just wasn't when I had my virtual bingo card. [SPEAKER_01]: According to rainnews.com, which mainly serves the shrinking broadcast radio market, but as expanded into covering audio podcasting. [SPEAKER_01]: It's reporting that Tiktok is attempting to do just that. [SPEAKER_01]: According to the article Tiktok has partnered with iHeart Media to be the hosting service for 25 podcasts, which will be hosted by Tiktok creators.
[SPEAKER_01]: iHeart will own distribution and place the shows across all major audio platforms. [SPEAKER_01]: According to the agreement, the companies will open co-branded podcast studios in Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, Atlantis, probably the third most popular place for TikTok creators and users within the United States, I assume. [SPEAKER_01]: I heart will also create a TikTok radio and over the airwaves traditional radio network. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and get this.
[SPEAKER_01]: The station will aspire to recreate the feeling of scrolling the TikTok app, but in audio form. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, good luck with that, bro. [SPEAKER_01]: I imagine that the people behind this launch are attempting to capitalize on the mass of repeal of the TikTok app, along with the supposed short attention span the younger generations exhibit. [SPEAKER_01]: What the content this partnership produces will look like is anyone's guess.
[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever it's like, expect short, highly-produced content, which would mirror the TikTok app. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going by what I've heard and have been shown on YouTube and other podcasts. [SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if they'll have a podcast dedicated to clips by purple hair to wild eyed, except them pierced, bird-handed, whack-job women. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the content I've been shown the most from TikTok. [SPEAKER_01]: What this partnership is really all about is advertising.
[SPEAKER_01]: TikTok has become the number one money-making social media program in regards to ad revenue. [SPEAKER_01]: I think I hard is attempting to cash in, pun intended on this cash cow juggernaut. [SPEAKER_01]: I really can't predict if this venture will be successful or not. [SPEAKER_01]: Like I've said, I've never used TikTok and I don't intend to ever start using it. [SPEAKER_01]: If anything, this partnership is an interesting idea, and I've heard worse ideas in the past.
[SPEAKER_01]: Years ago, Disney launched a radio network, but eventually it was forced to cease operations because of low audience numbers. [SPEAKER_01]: This TikTok podcast and radio network launch proves the staying power of audio only content, despite what entities like Spotify and YouTube are telling you.
[SPEAKER_01]: article from Pat News, which quotes a report from the University of Southern California's Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, comes to the conclusion that Patcast diversity is quote, WOLFUL, Unquote.
[SPEAKER_01]: According to this, study, 64% of the host of the most popular U.S. podcast were men, and that these top shelves were significantly less diverse than the top movies TV or music, [SPEAKER_01]: Now I might be going out on a limb here, but this is mostly co-talk for most of the host of those top podcasts being mostly white heterosexual males. [SPEAKER_01]: And as we know, that's the most dreaded type of male species according to women these days.
[SPEAKER_01]: I base this on another quote from this study. [SPEAKER_01]: That describes the lack of non-white host as awful. [SPEAKER_01]: The authors of this study must have just been taught the word awful, because it's used instead of the previously favored racist buzzword amongst the college lead. [SPEAKER_01]: Though the study notes that most true crime podcasts are hosted by women, 90% of these female hosts are white and focus on stories of crimes committed on women.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hey gals, you need to step up your crime game! [SPEAKER_01]: Come on! [SPEAKER_01]: Seriously, this study I used to term lightly makes me wonder how much money was diverted from other more deserving studies in order to fund it. [SPEAKER_01]: The entry into podcasting is cheap and has been for a while now. [SPEAKER_01]: A $72 fine fine USB microphone paired with a free-to-use advanced digital audio workstation, like the Reaper.
[SPEAKER_01]: and a free hosting service like Spotify is all you need to get started and to set up by just a scribble sound pretty darn good. [SPEAKER_01]: If the content's good, well you'll do well, or to then me anyway, how about doing a study on the diversity of professional sports, basketball and football are dominated by black athletes, while baseball and soccer are dominated by Hispanic athletes.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'd wager we won't be seeing a study like that or a call for [SPEAKER_01]: and 95th episode of the OFN T-Botgases coming to an end here in the post-Poltsnap of the Tennessee Mountains. [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, we even had some snow flories last week. [SPEAKER_02]: Why it stopped mentioning the S-word? [SPEAKER_01]: I hope you enjoyed this episode and I enjoyed making it for you. [SPEAKER_01]: Like what you heard, you can make a donation use the link in the show notes.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then all donations will be greatly appreciated. [SPEAKER_01]: And always reach me at OFN T-Botgases at gmail.com. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm enjoying hearing from you. [SPEAKER_01]: Remember, don't listen to what they say, watch what they do. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I have nothing clever to say this week, so just get off my lawn. [SPEAKER_01]: Stay skeptical. [SPEAKER_01]: Ah, I'm out. [SPEAKER_01]: See you. [SPEAKER_01]: And that folks is the end of the show.
