[SPEAKER_03]: a factual day to creation for sanity production. [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the OFN Tea Podcast, a show mainly about tech and other topics and how their influence effects are host. [SPEAKER_01]: Now here he is, Jim Schafer. [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the OF&T podcast, episode 315, which I'm calling, 50 years of reminiscing. [SPEAKER_00]: Happy Easter to those who celebrated.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the giant fruit company was formed on April 1st of 1976, and the company was in celebration mode all last week. [SPEAKER_00]: In the tech I'm using section, [SPEAKER_00]: Another Apple product celebrated 16 years last week also. [SPEAKER_00]: Find out what it is at the end of the next section. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I don't know about you, but I'm ready to start now. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yes! [SPEAKER_03]: Yes! [SPEAKER_03]: Yes!

[SPEAKER_00]: To act news, a previous Nokia influencer and someone I interacted with during those early smart phone days, read L. Cory, who's now a writer for Android Authority.com has recently put Android desktop mode through its paces and what was her conclusion then.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'll let the headline of the article answer that question, quote, Android isn't ready for [SPEAKER_00]: Rita was all in on Chrome OS and actually purchased and used the Pixel Book Chromebook, which I listed over back in what Rita and myself would agree to call the day. [SPEAKER_00]: So she knows what she's talking about. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna come to think of it. [SPEAKER_00]: She's always knew what she was talking about.

[SPEAKER_00]: According to the article, she connected her what I assumed to be Pixel Phone. [SPEAKER_00]: to her pixel tablet, enabled desktop mode, connected the mouse, and immediately realized that Android desktop doesn't support the back gesture while using a mouse. [SPEAKER_01]: What? [SPEAKER_00]: As Ms. Elcore stated within the article, this is one of Android's most basic features, and feels it's a major stumbling block for a decent desktop experience.

[SPEAKER_00]: Some apps did allow you to click on the right side of it, and then drag it quickly to the left in order to achieve the back function, [SPEAKER_00]: But this was in the case for all apps. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, the mechanics of the motion are neither reliable or are they intuitive. [SPEAKER_00]: While the back function can be accomplished by a button located on the right side of the bottom pass bar.

[SPEAKER_00]: Again, if you're an Android user, it won't be intuitive and the mechanics of this still will have to be re-learned. [SPEAKER_00]: The author believes that this is something that needs to be fixed at the operating system level. [SPEAKER_00]: She concludes that there is still time to correct this before Android desktop mode is released to the general public.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, this makes me feel less optimistic about Aluminium OS, being that the operating system appears to be just a souped up version of Android. [SPEAKER_00]: Telegram, Leaker, Mystic Leaks. [SPEAKER_00]: I've had a few of those during my drinking days, posted an alleged set of aluminium OS wall papers this past week. [SPEAKER_00]: The story is again from www.androidauthority.com.

[SPEAKER_00]: The wall papers are described as having an abstract aesthetic, with a lot of neon and vibrant use in magenta, orange, teal, and deep blue. [SPEAKER_00]: I guess we should give Mystic Leaks a break here. [SPEAKER_00]: It was the giant fruit company's 50th anniversary last week, and that had the effect of overriding leakers normal beat. [SPEAKER_00]: And I for one am interested in how Aloo Minimo S is shaping up, okay?

[SPEAKER_00]: New kit on the block website Android Headlines, as posted renders of the upcoming Google Pixel 11 Pro XL. [SPEAKER_00]: The renders were based on leak CAD drawings. [SPEAKER_00]: Jeez, what doesn't leak these days? [SPEAKER_00]: I guess having a supply chain, thousands of miles away from company headquarters has its downsides. [SPEAKER_00]: Because neither Apple nor Google can manage keeping new product designs under RAP.

[SPEAKER_00]: I remember a time when you were actually surprised during new product announcement events from both companies. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, the renders reveal that nothing has changed as far as the design of the new pixels. [SPEAKER_00]: Now I know many tech heads will be again disappointed, but I feel we've reached the peak of design with current smartphones. [SPEAKER_00]: One interesting tidbit has emerged from these CAD drawings, though.

[SPEAKER_00]: Google appears to be continuing its shift away from Samsung chips. [SPEAKER_00]: As the old Samsung modem chips, which equip the current pixel lineup, are being replaced with modem chips from MediaTek. [SPEAKER_03]: How long will it be before Google follows Apple's lead and start designing their own modem and networking chips? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's a good question. [SPEAKER_00]: Probably within the next 3 to 5 years is my prediction.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be holding you to that prediction. [SPEAKER_00]: Find by me. [SPEAKER_00]: Android Police is claiming that Apple's eye message is quote struggling to maintain its dominance [SPEAKER_00]: hadn't realized that I miss it was dominating. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a heck of a lot of Android phones and used throughout the world, and their numbers completely dominate in comparison to phones running iOS. [SPEAKER_03]: Perhaps the author was referring to the United States market.

[SPEAKER_00]: He most likely is, within the U.S. market, IOS holds a slightly, but I think this is the only market where this is the case. [SPEAKER_00]: I've just reported on Google messages having exceeded 1 billion downloads during last week's episode. [SPEAKER_00]: So, there's at the consider. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, the new RCS standard brings in app video calling, which is a major update.

[SPEAKER_00]: As of now, if you make a video call within an RCS enabled Android messaging app, it defaults to a third party app, like Google Meet for example. [SPEAKER_00]: Once RCS 4 is implemented, you won't have to leave the app you're using to make a video call. [SPEAKER_00]: Other new features are improved media quality and rich text formatting. [SPEAKER_00]: Which is important to the people who value that, I guess.

[SPEAKER_00]: But for me, I just want Apple to support end-to-end encryption for RCS messages, which is supposedly coming in the next few months. [SPEAKER_00]: The problem here is getting cellular service providers to support these features. [SPEAKER_00]: I look at these advancements as just another step toward some sort of worldwide mobile operating system, controlled by governments. [SPEAKER_00]: This world OS would replace Android and iOS in this dystopian world vision of mine.

[SPEAKER_00]: Think a worldwide version of WeChat. [SPEAKER_00]: And now for some aptly news, according to an article from appleinsider.com, Apple is planning [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, this report is based on Apple having requested a 24 inch OLED display samples from Samsung display, LG display, and other suppliers recently, I wonder if Apple requested samples from China's B-O-E. Why not? [SPEAKER_00]: But if you're in the market for an iMac, you might as well just go ahead and purchase it now.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because Apple is shooting for a 2029 or 2030 release for this OLED iMac. [SPEAKER_03]: What's up? [SPEAKER_00]: When I decided to replace my 2015 mechanical hard drive equipped iMac back around 2022, I found that the standard 24-inch iMac's display wasn't large enough for my old-forward eyes, and decided to get a Mac mini instead. [SPEAKER_00]: Since making that decision, I'd never buy another iMac. [SPEAKER_00]: I enjoy the freedom of choosing my own monitor size and peripherals.

[SPEAKER_00]: In another Apple Leakron X, this one calls itself early Apple Leaks, hosted an image showing an iPhone display featuring a dynamic island about half a size of the current one. [SPEAKER_00]: This was later countered by another Leakron called Ice Universe, showing an Apple display with two punch holes instead of a dynamic island. [SPEAKER_00]: Both leakers are claiming that this will be the display of the new iPhone 18.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well in my opinion if these leaks turn out to be true, and who really knows if they are, perhaps the smaller dynamic island will be for the base model iPhone, while the two small, unchold displays will equip the Pro-Model iPhone 18. [SPEAKER_00]: Either way we'll know what's what comes September. [SPEAKER_00]: Other iPhone 18 rumors have emerged also. [SPEAKER_00]: The following are from an article on the MacRumors website.

[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, the smaller dynamic island, an option to purchase an iPhone in the color red. [SPEAKER_00]: That'll make my lovely wife happy. [SPEAKER_00]: The same overall design of the current iPhone 17 series, including the 6.3 or 6.9 inch displays. [SPEAKER_00]: However, the displays will be of the LTPO plus type, which will be more power efficient, thus extending battery life, and that's a good thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: The cameras on the 18 Pro models will have variable apertures, as that's great for those really into photography. [SPEAKER_00]: It'll have a 20 Pro chip for the Pro models, with C2 modem chips and in two networking [SPEAKER_00]: a simplified camera control button, you know, does anybody actually use this button? [SPEAKER_00]: I sure don't. [SPEAKER_00]: A more frosted glass appearance around back, web browsing via satellite, and the Pro Max might be slightly thicker.

[SPEAKER_00]: To sum it all up, a boring incremental update. [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever a radical change in iPhone design Apple is currently cooking up, isn't expected until 2027's anniversary iPhone. [SPEAKER_00]: Now get ready for some reminiscing. [SPEAKER_00]: Besides this April 1st being the 50th anniversary of the founding of our favorite company named after a fruit, April 3rd was also the 16th anniversary of Apple's iPad.

[SPEAKER_00]: Sure, the 16th anniversary of something isn't as sexy as a 50th anniversary, but the iPad's [SPEAKER_00]: Apple Insider.com had an article recognizing the milestone, which gave a brief history of what's for now the one tactic to rule them all. [SPEAKER_00]: Now I'm not going to run through the iPads and higher history here. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank goodness for that. [SPEAKER_00]: Instead, I'll run through my personal history with Apple's take on a tablet.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no. [SPEAKER_00]: Here we go again. [SPEAKER_00]: With just a little context on the times. [SPEAKER_00]: When Steve Jobs announced the first iPad, he ticked press and just about everyone I knew, including myself, considered it a joke. [SPEAKER_00]: And they weren't that far off. [SPEAKER_00]: At the time, I hadn't yet got my first iPhone.

[SPEAKER_00]: I remember my son and I laughing about the iPad just being an oversized iPhone, and that's exactly what the first generation iPad was. [SPEAKER_00]: What everyone was missing about the iPad was the way you navigated the user's interface. [SPEAKER_00]: At the time the only computing tab as I had ever heard of was the Surface tablet from Microsoft. [SPEAKER_00]: The Surface had an ugly display and had to be navigated using a stylus if I'm not mistaken.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was Windows on the tablet form factor. [SPEAKER_00]: Compared to the Surface tablet, the iPad felt small, though the screen was larger. [SPEAKER_00]: Fast forward a year or so, and my son and I are standing in a Navy exchange store on Mitchell Field in New York, and we're looking at a second-generation iPad. [SPEAKER_00]: My lovely wife was food shopping at the military commissary and being bored, we decided to go to the Navy Exchange and have a look around.

[SPEAKER_00]: But his time I had already gotten my iPhone 4S, so I had one foot into the ecosystem which may be interested in the iPad. [SPEAKER_00]: A son was firmly in the Android camp and showed no signs of wavering, because the Navy exchange was which is open for active duty and retired military personnel only, no state or local taxes are collected on purchases. [SPEAKER_00]: In addition to that, the exchange was selling the iPad for $100 list and retail.

[SPEAKER_00]: To my son's amusement, and I must add, soft derision of me, I decided to buy the iPad, and the rest is history. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, not quite. [SPEAKER_00]: After using the iPad for a while, I became sort of bored with it and wound up giving it to my wife. [SPEAKER_00]: After all, it was just a giant iPhone, and I already had an iPhone. [SPEAKER_00]: A little over a year later, the iPad mini came out. [SPEAKER_00]: This was something I could use.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was portable and had cellular connectivity. [SPEAKER_00]: The next time I visited the same naval exchange, where I bought my first iPad, [SPEAKER_00]: I purchased the first generation of the iPad Mini. [SPEAKER_00]: I activated Cellular Service Fort, and purchased a third-party keyboard case.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now I had myself a portable computing and content-consuming device that I use primarily while at work, what kind of job did you have, which gave you time to use it while at work? [SPEAKER_00]: A very good one. [SPEAKER_00]: The iPhone screens of the time were tiny compared to this modern era, [SPEAKER_00]: And the display of the mini was a relief for my aging eyes. [SPEAKER_00]: Next year the iPad mini was upgraded to a retina display and of course I had to get it.

[SPEAKER_00]: The original mini was given to my eldest daughter. [SPEAKER_00]: I used that retina display mini until iPhone screen started to catching up to it. [SPEAKER_00]: The retina model went to my younger daughter. [SPEAKER_00]: My wife, who love the iPad from the get-go, eventually got herself an iPad Air, and I purchased one for myself along with a third-party keyboard case. [SPEAKER_00]: I mainly used it for content consumption.

[SPEAKER_00]: In 2018, my door gave me a third-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro for Father's Day, which I equipped with an Apple Magic keyboard case. [SPEAKER_00]: was with that iPad that I got serious about things. [SPEAKER_00]: Besides content creation I used it for word processing and even did some work at home using it. [SPEAKER_00]: Don't even problem my head what it was it's size. [SPEAKER_00]: It was giant that iPad is still in use today.

[SPEAKER_00]: My son uses it for content consumption and messaging. [SPEAKER_00]: Next, I downgraded to the newly redesigned 11-inch iPad Air in 2020, and I added an Apple Magic Keyboard Case. [SPEAKER_00]: This was the setup where I started doing some serious computing using an iPad, and the first time my MacBook started collecting dust. [SPEAKER_00]: When 2021 rolled around, Apple started equipping the iPad Pro with the M series of chips, and I was in lust for one.

[SPEAKER_00]: As a birthday present to myself in 2022, I traded the iPad Air for an 11-inch M2 iPad Pro. [SPEAKER_00]: The magic keyboard I'd been using for the Air could be used for the new Pro, which is why I didn't go for the larger 13-inch model at the time. [SPEAKER_00]: I'd save myself some cash by doing that, skin-flint. [SPEAKER_00]: I love that iPad, but eventually my age started catching up with my eyesight.

[SPEAKER_00]: So in late 2024 I traded the 11-inch M2 Pro in for my current M4 13-inch Pro and purchased after some debate the new Magic Keyboard case for it. [SPEAKER_00]: The OLED display has been a revelation and I do almost all my computing with this iPad. [SPEAKER_00]: The new iPad OS has finally come up with the hardware and I very seldom use my MacBook Air. [SPEAKER_00]: I especially like the iPad for editing manuscripts.

[SPEAKER_00]: This will most likely be the last iPad Pro that I'll ever purchase. [SPEAKER_00]: Eventually, the iPad Air will catch up to the M4 Pro spec wise, and if I ever do need a new iPad, that's the model I'll be purchasing. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's my personal journey with Apple's iPad on this 16th anniversary of it. [SPEAKER_00]: I hope you enjoyed the story.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you're even just slightly into tech, and then I'm sure you have been informed this past week when we are another, the April 1st was the 50th anniversary of the founding of Apple Computer. [SPEAKER_00]: Apple themselves held celebrations of featuring concerts across the globe, and CEO Tim Cook gave interviews to select outlets. [SPEAKER_00]: Love them or hate them. [SPEAKER_00]: Apple is a success story.

[SPEAKER_00]: I used to load Apple, then later in life, love them, and ally, respect them. [SPEAKER_00]: They make quality products and maintain a wonderful ecosystem around them. [SPEAKER_00]: I came late to Apple and before doing so, considered myself the resistance to the juggernaut the iPhone became… Until you were assimilated. [SPEAKER_00]: Just like the board did, in Star Trek. [SPEAKER_00]: I guess you could look at it that way.

[SPEAKER_00]: To be fair though, I didn't fully enter the Apple sphere until the death of Windows phone and with it might beloved Nokia. [SPEAKER_00]: I then use an iPhone and Nexus slash Pixel phone side-by-side for years until making the decision to go all in with Apple. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's face it, Apple has a more polished user experience and Android and Windows, well, at least for now.

[SPEAKER_00]: The device integration into Apple's ecosystem was unmatched when I first entered it, and Android is only now catching up. [SPEAKER_00]: I had flirted with getting into Apple products before the smartphone era, but could never justify the high cost of entry. [SPEAKER_00]: The reason for the curiosity began when that was a gamer. [SPEAKER_00]: There was an RPG game called Wizardry. [SPEAKER_00]: That for a time was exclusive to the Apple II computer.

[SPEAKER_00]: The closest I ever got to buying an Apple computer was actually putting an Apple II E on Layaway in 1987. [SPEAKER_00]: What is Layaway? [SPEAKER_00]: Layaway worked like this. [SPEAKER_00]: You'd put a percentage of the total price down and the store would hold the item for you. [SPEAKER_00]: You would then make monthly payments until the entire price of the item was paid off. [SPEAKER_00]: Then, and only then would you actually be allowed to take the item home with you?

[SPEAKER_00]: I know these days layaways a foreign concept. [SPEAKER_00]: After putting the initial money down on the Apple 2E, I quickly changed my mind about the whole thing and got my money back. [SPEAKER_00]: Around 1995, I had managed to save up enough money to buy my software, high-end computer. [SPEAKER_00]: and I decided to check out Apple again. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, again, I was stunned at the company's high prices, which prompted me to email Apple's CEO at the time, John Scully.

[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, this was before the return of Steve Jobs and, at the time, Apple was at the point of collapsing. [SPEAKER_00]: I knew that in the past, jobs would actually read emails and respond to them. [SPEAKER_00]: In my email, I suggested to Mr. Scully that if Apple would either lower its prices or provide better value for money, then potential consumers like myself who are trying to decide whether to buy a Mac or a Windows PC would be more easily swayed toward Apple.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still awaiting a reply to that email. [SPEAKER_00]: So I bought myself a Quantex Intel Premium Tower PC, which came with a Color Monitor. [SPEAKER_00]: Take that Apple! [SPEAKER_01]: You really showed them, didn't you? [SPEAKER_00]: The first Apple device I ever owned was a fifth generation iPod with video. [SPEAKER_00]: This was around 2005.

[SPEAKER_00]: My son had previously bought himself a pre-owned early generation iPad, you know the one that featured Orange Lights, and that kind of inspired me. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, my new iPods, Hard Drive, failed soon after the warranty period, and I remember having to travel into Manhattan to have it repaired. [SPEAKER_00]: And that wasn't such a great start to my Apple journey. [UNKNOWN]: No! [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't enjoy using that iPod, especially the video component.

[SPEAKER_00]: I used to download episodes of television series from iTunes and watch them during lunch at work. [SPEAKER_00]: I went from Symbi into Windows Phone when Nokia did, and got myself a Microsoft Zoom. [SPEAKER_00]: I actually liked the Zoom better than I did the iPod. [SPEAKER_00]: By this time, I was completely back out of the Apple ecosystem. [SPEAKER_00]: I had witnessed a small but vocal number of techheads at work who swore by their iPhones, but I largely ignored them.

[SPEAKER_00]: Over time, my wife and younger daughter decided that they just had to have iPhones, so both got themselves iPhone 4s. [SPEAKER_00]: My son was using Android, my eldest daughter had a blackberry, and I, of course, was primarily using Windows Phone. [SPEAKER_00]: In October of 2011, my wife presented me with an iPhone 4S for my birthday. [SPEAKER_00]: This surprised me to say the least, and I honestly wasn't impressed with the phone at first.

[SPEAKER_00]: My Windows phone was faster and integrated well with my current PC, so my iPhone 4S became my work in backup phone. [SPEAKER_00]: Over time, I learned to appreciate the iPhone's solid build. [SPEAKER_00]: The only phone that rivaled it was the Nokia 925 which was my main phone at the time. [SPEAKER_00]: However, this all changed from me when the iPhone 5 was released. [SPEAKER_00]: My co-workers at the time were mainly using candy bar Nokia's or blackberries.

[SPEAKER_00]: When the iPhone 5 hit, I witnessed an explosion of iPhone's around me. [SPEAKER_00]: It seemed like overnight, most of my co-workers were using iPhone 5s or 5cs. [SPEAKER_00]: Those that weren't up at for the iPhone 4s, which were still for sale. [SPEAKER_00]: My wife decided to get an iPhone 5 because of its larger screen. [SPEAKER_00]: Eventually I upgraded to an iPhone 5s in order to keep up with the Joneses as the Ku Klid say. [SPEAKER_00]: No!

[SPEAKER_00]: By then, the writing was on the wall for Windows Phone, and the iPhone became [SPEAKER_00]: Main driver, I bet you didn't want to be one of those green bubble people. [SPEAKER_00]: Am I right? [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, to admit it, but I message did play an important part of the iPhone becoming my main phone. [SPEAKER_00]: Around that time, my family gifted me an 11-inch Intel-powered MacBook Air for Christmas. [SPEAKER_00]: To be frank, so you don't want to be Jim any longer.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that old gag. [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't care for that MacBook. [SPEAKER_00]: The screen resolution was terrible compared to my HP all-in-one Windows PC I had at the time. [SPEAKER_00]: Build a build quality of the MacBook Air with far superior. [SPEAKER_00]: In 2015, my wife bought me a 27-inch eye Mac and that again changed everything. [SPEAKER_00]: The display was gorgeous and for the first time I no longer used a Windows PC for personal computing.

[SPEAKER_00]: I converted the HP to a Linux machine, [SPEAKER_00]: I immediately noticed the advantages of the tight integration of Apple's ecosystem and have never looked back. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's a story of my entry into the wall garden. [SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think there's any escape from me. [SPEAKER_00]: I often look back and wonder if... [SPEAKER_00]: I would have gone down the same path if Windows Phone became successful and had stuck around.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you're as deeply into the Apple ecosystem as I am, what was your gateway product that made you enter this world garden? [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, happy 50th Apple. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll see what the future brings. [SPEAKER_00]: I've been thinking about my tech future lately. [SPEAKER_00]: I've decided to move away from a phone-centric tech-life style in towards an Apple Watch future. [SPEAKER_00]: What are you talking about? [SPEAKER_00]: What let me explain.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, please do. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, since my retirement almost four years ago now, the smartphone has become less important for me. [SPEAKER_00]: Besides family, I really communicate with anybody via my smartphone. [SPEAKER_00]: Or I mainly use it for us checking new stories, emails, [SPEAKER_00]: While doing the latter, I pick which stories I find interesting and then forward them by email to myself.

[SPEAKER_00]: I then bring up these self-addressed emails on my Mac mini into side which stories I'll use for the podcast. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't really participate in social media and not take many photos. [SPEAKER_00]: So I put so much of my money into an iPhone, perhaps for bragging rights. [SPEAKER_00]: My son has the right idea. [SPEAKER_00]: He spends most of his computing time on his PC.

[SPEAKER_00]: He consumes media games and communicates with friends all while using his desktop computer screens. [SPEAKER_00]: That's why he doesn't care what Fony has. [SPEAKER_00]: Before I bought him an iPhone 16E as a birthday gift, he was perfectly happy with his iPhone SE. [SPEAKER_00]: Heck, he wouldn't even have had an iPad [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't have a laptop and doesn't even see the need for one.

[SPEAKER_00]: Instead of purchasing the latest and greatest iPhone, I think I'm going to purchase an Apple Watch Ultra every two or three years. [SPEAKER_00]: Everything I do with my iPhone while out and about can be done with an Apple Watch. [SPEAKER_00]: And everything I do with my phone while at home can be accomplished using my iPad Pro. [SPEAKER_00]: Now I do have a MacBook Air, but I hardly use it.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'll keep it around just in case I have to record this podcast while on the road. [SPEAKER_00]: Really? [SPEAKER_00]: On the road, you say. [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, could happen. [SPEAKER_00]: At this point, I might even sure that I'll be buying the iPhone and averse edition. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll most likely get a base my life on and use the savings for an Apple Watch Ultra. [SPEAKER_00]: Why not just a regular Apple Watch? [SPEAKER_00]: Battery life.

[SPEAKER_00]: If Apple manages to improve the standard Apple Watch's battery life to at least 24 hours, I might reconsider. [SPEAKER_00]: I'd rather put my money towards a spiked-out Mac Mini, which I plan on doing in the future. [SPEAKER_00]: What's your opinion of my future tech plan? [SPEAKER_00]: And to tame it news, it's been slow as far as entertainment news goes, but there has been a few movies that are doing really well in theaters. [SPEAKER_00]: Well then, that's a surprise.

[SPEAKER_00]: isn't it? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it is. [SPEAKER_00]: Good luck. [SPEAKER_00]: Have fun, don't die. [SPEAKER_00]: Project Hail Mary and the Super Mario Galaxy movie which is projected to bring in up to $1 billion are making a splash. [SPEAKER_00]: These movies are even getting good reviews from YouTube critics. [SPEAKER_00]: Now what do these movies all have in common with each other? [SPEAKER_00]: They have no politics nor agendas.

[SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_00]: In that they're not lecturing or talking down to their audiences. [SPEAKER_00]: Normal mentioned goes to, they will kill you, but that movie is one of those boss lady movies that has a hidden agenda. [SPEAKER_00]: I won't reveal that agenda here. [SPEAKER_00]: White man, bad. [SPEAKER_00]: It appears that Hollywood is slowly turning the ship around, as he, cool kids also say. [SPEAKER_00]: Wrong!

[SPEAKER_00]: But I still don't feel drawn to see any of these movies in the theater, though. [SPEAKER_00]: My effort traveling wife is still doing the overseas thing, so I've been laying off watching many of the movies that are available to stream until she comes back home next month. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's another Boss Lady movie we both enjoyed the John Wick movie, so we were curious to see how they've messed it all up.

[SPEAKER_00]: Valerina didn't do as well as expected in theaters and we both realized why while watching it. [SPEAKER_00]: The story was somewhat just jointed. [SPEAKER_00]: That wasn't bad, but I'm glad I didn't pay to see it in a movie theater. [SPEAKER_00]: It really wasn't much news within the world of podcasting this week well nothing interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: Personal or otherwise. [SPEAKER_00]: Besides the push towards video, it's been strangely quiet.

[SPEAKER_00]: They are I say that podcasting has reached its zenith and it'll be downhill from here. [SPEAKER_02]: Could be. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure that once Apple's HLS video standard takes hold, things will begin becoming interesting once again. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'll see where all that leads.
