Craig (00:01.091)
Welcome to the official Munzee Podcast
Rob Vardeman (00:04.994)
I'm Rob, also known as Coach V, your host and the president of Munzee.
Craig (00:09.106)
And I'm Craig also known as Seemyshell, I'm here to explore the world of Munzee from within.
Rob Vardeman (00:21.677)
Each week we'll delve into Munzee's mysteries, discover treasures, and inform players from around the globe just what's coming your way.
Craig (00:28.854)
So sit back, relax. And today we learn all about, unfortunately, the issues that we've seen. What's new for the week ahead? We unpack the Muns pack, and of course we end with the Munsee tip of the week. Rob, welcome, mate. Look at this, look at you.
Rob Vardeman (00:45.567)
I mean, hey, we're back. Do you know how long it's been since we had a Munzee podcast? So it's good to be back.
Craig (00:48.246)
Yeah.
Craig (00:52.482)
Yeah, I do believe it was at 2015, I think it was, around that sort of vintage.
Rob Vardeman (00:56.81)
Yeah, I was doing some research for what we're going to talk about here in a bit and saw one that was 2017. So yeah, it's probably been six years. I like the way that you've phrased some things in here with this being a new season, I suppose. The new season of the official Munzee podcast.
Craig (01:01.652)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (01:05.254)
Oh, there you go. Yeah, there's... Yeah.
Craig (01:12.838)
Yes, yes, a new season. Exactly, so just to let every other listeners know as well, this is audio only. So you won't see the good looking Rob and the ugly me. No, this is audio only, so you have to imagine this. But it is gonna be a weekly podcast, Rob. We're gonna do this every week. Are you ready for that? Yeah.
Rob Vardeman (01:32.274)
Yes, I think so as long as you will help with the organization because that is not one of my strong points
Craig (01:37.93)
Absolutely. No, that's fine. Now, just to let you listeners know as well, obviously it's gonna be me on this show pretty much the entire time, unfortunately for you, but Rob may be in and out. We may have some guests as well. That would be cool. Yeah, that would be cool. Now I'm gonna try and pull Rob back to 30 minute episode. So you get 30 minutes. No, not the hour longs like you see on other podcasts. We're gonna try and lock it in 30 minutes because it's once a week.
Rob Vardeman (01:52.031)
Hey, that's an exciting thing.
Craig (02:05.438)
So that's what we're gonna do from now on. Now, Rob, why did this podcast come about? You and I had a discussion.
Rob Vardeman (02:12.302)
Well, yeah, you and I have talked about the fact that there is another podcast out there, the Munzee Maniacs. It would be great to have some additional content for our players. This is a way for us, MHQ, to have some transparency and some additional contact with players, and also just kind of a way for those people who don't like to read the blog. Well, I'll read the blog to you.
Craig (02:37.952)
Exactly right. So you can be sitting in the car, every Friday this is going to be out. You can be sitting in the car on your way to work and you can listen to us instead of sitting there reading the blog, the blog post itself. That sounds like a good idea.
Rob Vardeman (02:49.568)
It does sound like a good idea, and so, here we are.
Craig (02:53.495)
Exactly. Now enough of all the bad stuff that's happened over the weekend. We'll get towards that as well. But some good stuff, Rob. I'm telling you now, mate. I really enjoyed the new map. Just saying. The new map. Yeah. It really is.
Rob Vardeman (03:03.594)
The new map is amazing. Sam of Cup of Z fame, you know, kind of did a lot of the back work to that. And he'd been working on it. He'd had it through Cup of Z and everything. And now that he's part of our team, it's kind of one of those things where it was like, hey, why don't we put that out to the entire world? So he had a
Craig (03:15.604)
Mm-hmm.
Rob Vardeman (03:29.622)
An initial version, I kind of kicked around some additional ideas with him on how to incorporate several of his other tools into this one. And we're not done yet. That's the nice part.
Craig (03:36.844)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (03:41.018)
Wow, well, I'll just let you know now, I spent the last sort of, I woke up this morning, firstly, I won't even get into what I saw this morning, we just say that, but we'll get into that later on, but I woke up this morning, jumped online, and I saw I got these new cards, or I'll say I got new cards, and I just spent the last five minutes deploying all my new cards for all this weekend. So, on the new map. So I don't have to do it on my phone anymore, it's all online, I love that, I love that, mate. So, yeah.
Rob Vardeman (04:06.35)
Isn't it great? Yeah, because I heard from you early on and you said that you hadn't deployed online before. And we put this new map out and it's so easy that you've got an opportunity to do that. I also built some YouTube tutorials for people, so hopefully those are easy enough to follow along that everybody can try.
Craig (04:13.023)
No, never.
Craig (04:21.868)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (04:27.546)
Exactly. And just to let you know, if you don't follow Munzee on YouTube, you should go and follow Munzee on YouTube on all the social medias actually, because Rob, you're putting out some more and more tutorials coming out soon as we go along. No promises as to timeframes, but they will be coming out. Ha ha ha.
Rob Vardeman (04:42.746)
Yes, tying me to a time frame is dangerous sometimes. Yes, but we do have quite a few more planned. The game is complicated, and so additional tutorials on different things is always helpful. You can simplify the game all the way down to, if you see it on the map, then you should cap. That's it. You see it, cap it. Very simple. But there's a lot of details.
Craig (04:46.216)
I
Craig (04:59.479)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (05:05.842)
Yeah, that's it? Exactly, exactly.
Rob Vardeman (05:11.138)
and it's those details that we should probably spell out.
Craig (05:16.05)
Yeah, exactly. And moving on to social media as well. Then we've got to mention the water cooler on Facebook. Let's mention that because that is a great location for all Munzee chit chat. There's good and bad on there, but there's all Munzee chit chat and you're active on there, too, mate.
Rob Vardeman (05:30.294)
I am, yes, yeah, we have a good time on the Munzee water cooler. That good time does ebb and flow, but you know, just like the game. It is a place for players to go in and communicate, talk to each other, share ideas, share things that you need deployed around you, what your location is, all that. And what we didn't have written down, but...
Craig (05:35.014)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (05:42.804)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (05:48.809)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (05:54.529)
Yeah.
Rob Vardeman (05:58.282)
I was in there earlier today in the virtual garden builder or painter group as well, which is where I found a location. So I deployed a virtual there in order to try and help a group in Canada fill their garden before the weekend's events.
Craig (06:03.207)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (06:12.746)
That's really cool.
That's really cool. And just to let you all listeners know as well, all these links that we're talking about, so the Munzee water cooler, all that sort of stuff, all the links are in the show notes. And if you're brand new to Munzee, Rob, we didn't even, this isn't on the list yet, but if you're brand new to Munzee and you've come across this podcast going, what the hell are these guys talking about? Cap it, cap it, cap it. Tell us just a short spiel about what is Munzee. There you go. If you want to, you know, they should discuss this all the time when you walk around with your big green jacket.
Rob Vardeman (06:38.143)
Oh, wow.
Rob Vardeman (06:44.626)
It's true, I do get asked. The general idea is that Munzee is a QR code based scavenger hunt. That's how it was originally built. It then has expanded into the virtual world. So what we do is we direct people from where they are to a location nearby. You capture a Munzee, which is our word for scanning the QR code or tapping the button on the screen for virtual.
Craig (06:45.814)
Hahaha!
Craig (07:13.122)
Yeah.
Rob Vardeman (07:13.53)
and we give you points for it. The person who our word is deployed, so anyone who puts a Munzee out, which everyone in the game can do that, anyone who puts one out gets points for that, and then when you capture it, they get points for that as well, so it's like residual points just for playing the game and our word growing the map.
Craig (07:30.719)
Mm.
Craig (07:34.074)
Exactly. I love this game, mate. I love it. And I fell in love with this game. Well, I download the game, I'm telling you now, 2017, I think it was from one of Joshua's videos, of course. I'm one of his many, many referrals. But my true love for the game itself came about, and not to a bit of a somber sort of moment, but it came about in April, May last year when I had some mental health issues. I didn't have transport.
Rob Vardeman (07:46.393)
Yeah.
Craig (08:04.13)
At the time I was living in a small town, but luckily enough for me, this small town Rob was loaded with Munsies. There was a mother and son in the town itself, the heavy players, which was great for me because I opened up the Munsy app and I went, what the hell is all this? And so I literally got out there walking every single day, getting the fresh air, getting the sunshine in.
because I didn't have a car, so I was walking everywhere. And then unbeknownst to me, Rob, I thought, oh yeah, I'll just capture more and then I'm done. No, no, I didn't know about POIs that you captured daily. I didn't know about bounces. I didn't know about the scatters and all. Man, you guys have done a great job with this. And I'm telling you now, this is what kept me out outside every single day that I was over there in Australia at the time and going through some bad mental health problems. So thank you very much for that. Anyway, moving on.
Rob Vardeman (08:56.022)
Well, I want to tell you that it's stories like that keep us going. That's what through the lower times that we have, app issues, all that kind of stuff, it's the fact that when I go to events or when I talk to people or I get messages from people and it's stories about how Munzee has helped them through situations with weight loss, with mobility issues in general, all that kind of stuff. Yeah, that's what it's all about for us.
Craig (08:58.382)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Craig (09:04.502)
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Craig (09:18.652)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (09:23.914)
And I love how it's more of a walking game to me than a driving game. Obviously you drive places as well, but you can't cap more when you're driving down the freeway at like 75, just saying. It's too fast. And I can't tell my wife to slow down either because she's not a player, so she doesn't understand. Anyway. Rob, what's happened this last weekend? We had some issues, some tech issues. The map was slow, some people couldn't cap, some people couldn't log in, this, that, the other.
Rob Vardeman (09:33.778)
No, nope, it's true.
Rob Vardeman (09:42.069)
Yep.
Craig (09:53.738)
Um, tell us a little bit more about the back end. What's actually happening with Munzee at that point in time?
Rob Vardeman (10:00.826)
So I'm really glad to have a tech team that understands all of it and that I'm not part of that because the conversations that they have and then the information that they pass along to me to the rest of our team in order to share it on social media is very deep and complex. But they try and break it down for us. We did have issues with slowness.
Craig (10:23.35)
Mm-hmm.
Rob Vardeman (10:28.538)
map not loading, with captures not going through, there were quite a few issues spanned several days last week and the team worked through the weekend in order to try and keep things running, get things back online each day this weekend and so far this week they have spent a lot of time and they are getting everything prepped so that we're gonna be ready
Craig (10:40.84)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (10:49.036)
Mmm.
Rob Vardeman (10:54.79)
for this big double points weekend, for the mega events that are happening in the Netherlands. Yeah, we've got a lot of stuff going on. We have a good team that is working on everything. It's not something that we're just like, you know, sitting back and going, well, it's broken a little bit and we'll just keep going on to these other things. We've got two sides of a team, one that is the gameplay side of the team that kind of keeps things fresh and moving.
Craig (10:56.961)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (11:08.215)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (11:22.732)
Mm-hmm.
Rob Vardeman (11:22.846)
And then there's the backend team, the tech team that has rebuilt that backend. And so we're still going through some of those growing pains. We're still trying to get everything firmed up so that it will be completely reliable. And we do think that we are getting right there. We have so many more things in place for this weekend coming up. So we're gonna go with fingers crossed.
Craig (11:39.126)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (11:47.19)
Mm-hmm.
Rob Vardeman (11:51.034)
but we have put in all the work this week. And we'll be monitoring and we will be there if we need to again.
Craig (11:56.566)
you
And this is the thing, like you see it all the time on different locations, such as the water cooler as well. People say, oh, that's it, oh my goodness, you know, the Munzee is down again, what am I gonna do, blah, blah. They don't realize that you guys, you're players as well, you're avid players, and this is your life. Munzee is your life, Rob, like it's your lifeline. So no, you're not just, you know, kicking back in bed, watching a movie or whatever else as well. When something happens, you're onto it, you're on the ball, so. And not only that, you've actually.
done some things now to sort of, you know, help people along such as the clan wars. You know, did you reduce the clan wars?
Rob Vardeman (12:32.11)
Yeah, yeah, we, this past weekend as things were happening, I actually went to an event. I was in Florida visiting my son and hadn't planned to go to the event, but it was about an hour drive. I went over to the event so that I could talk to people in person, get some feedback from them, things that I already knew, because like you said, I play. So I understood the frustrations, but it was good to have people able to say some of that stuff to me.
and to hear from me, which is another reason for this podcast, so that people can hear my voice. They can hear the things that we have going on, they can understand how serious it is to us. So we did some point deductions, or sorry, reductions, I suppose. We reduced the requirements 10% for the individual clan totals and 5% for the clan totals. Now that's sort of so far.
Craig (13:05.374)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Craig (13:17.56)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (13:28.561)
Yep.
Mm-hmm.
Rob Vardeman (13:31.67)
We will continue to monitor this and that's also written in the blog. I've edited it whenever I did all of this stuff, so it's set up so that as we watch and if anything else happens, which hopefully it will not, then we have the ability obviously to tweak it again. In addition to that we have set up in the Redeem store some
Craig (13:37.164)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (13:46.85)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (13:58.228)
Mm-hmm.
This is what I woke up to this morning. Yes, yes, yes.
Rob Vardeman (14:00.894)
So, right, and it's a surprise because we kind of put it out there and then there's an announcement that goes out Wednesday, which is the day we're recording this, so we're gonna put that out. So depending on when you're listening to this, you may still have an opportunity to get into the Redeem store to get those. If you're listening to this long in the future, sorry, they've been removed because this is a limited time.
Craig (14:12.94)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (14:19.01)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (14:23.446)
Hehehe
Craig (14:28.13)
They're probably rude. Exactly. But also speaking of the redeem store, this isn't in our show notes either, but I will say this, the golden carrot, the golden carrot, infamous golden carrot. I've seen this on several different, seven different platforms and even in my own clan, there one woman in my clan, she was like, I can't, I can't cap.
Rob Vardeman (14:30.331)
deal.
Craig (14:50.882)
I can't deploy the golden carrot until the 18th. They give it to me on the 18th, you know, and she was the only one in our clan. She felt pressured. What you've done though, is you've put the golden carrot in the redeem store at the start of the month. Look at that.
Rob Vardeman (15:03.398)
That's right, we've put the power into the hands of the players. What? Yeah, we've had a conversation about it for a while because the Redeem store is good, but we had a couple little pieces that were kind of missing that we needed to put in there so that we could do what we did, which for example was putting it in there for zero Zeds. So it literally cost nothing. That wasn't really possible previously.
Craig (15:08.335)
Exactly.
Craig (15:12.246)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (15:18.712)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (15:27.05)
Yeah. No.
Rob Vardeman (15:33.254)
The golden carrot is a way for us to make sure that premium players are the ones who are working their way through the upper levels of the clans, and I've heard some good suggestions about things that we should do for those golden carrots, since there are thousands of them now out on the map.
Craig (15:41.801)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (15:50.311)
Really? Really, that sounds interesting. And you'll hear it, obviously, here first, as well as the blog, so keep an eye out for that. Now, moving on, today, as this is released, is Friday the 13th, Rob. We're gonna have to move on, because we're in 15 minutes already. Friday the 13th. What is happening on Friday the 13th?
Rob Vardeman (15:59.474)
It's true.
Rob Vardeman (16:11.278)
Friday the 13th, it's such an exciting day. Because, you know, it's a spooky day, or supposed to be, based on movies, based on, you know, horror traditions and all that kind of stuff. But we, back in 2017, on October 13th, we kicked off the flat day, the 13th. And every time that we have a Friday the 13th that falls during the year, you can expect that there will be something happening.
Craig (16:14.391)
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Craig (16:23.947)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (16:38.422)
Mm-hmm.
Rob Vardeman (16:40.378)
from Munzee. We enjoy it. Dylan in particular really enjoys it, which you can see through his flat DHS. He's always got something related to some thriller horror type stuff. But we have some really exciting stuff. We are not going to go with our flat day theme because there's something actually special about this Friday the 13th in October. It is also World
Craig (16:41.774)
Oh. Mm-hmm.
Craig (16:50.259)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (16:58.406)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (17:09.162)
World egg day? No I didn't. World egg day? Who knew that there was even an egg day in the world?
Rob Vardeman (17:12.11)
Who knew?
Rob Vardeman (17:15.626)
October 13th is apparently egg day. So you know what that means. That means that this Friday, Friday the 13th of October is Fried Egg the 13th. So we've got some crazy stuff in store for players. We really do. We have a couple of new greeting cards that are going to come out because if you remember
Craig (17:18.071)
There you go.
Craig (17:22.498)
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Oh, geez.
Craig (17:40.993)
Mm-hmm.
Rob Vardeman (17:43.222)
World kindness day and it lined up with a Friday the 13th. So we had the kill them with kindness card Same theme going on here Friday egg the 13th. There's gonna be badges There's going to be um special activities that are going on with everything as usual The things that you've come to expect from Friday the 13th or flat day the 13th, whatever else Yeah, get ready
Craig (17:45.144)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (17:51.09)
Yep, yep. I remember that one.
Hahaha
Craig (18:02.879)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (18:09.982)
So, fried egg the 13th, these are obviously a play on words because you guys love your puns, I've noticed that as well. And I'll let you know now, guys, this is no yoke. I'm just saying, so. Ha ha ha. Brrroom, pssh. Ha ha ha.
Rob Vardeman (18:20.586)
No yokes about it. Exactly. Which, funny that you say that because we have some funny yokes cards coming out. Yeah, egg yolk cards. So you want to share a joke with someone else around the world? Cool. Here's you a special one. Dylan has put some special time into these. He is basically our story writer.
Craig (18:24.514)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (18:29.382)
Oh really?
Craig (18:37.437)
Yeah.
Craig (18:43.33)
Hehehehe
Rob Vardeman (18:45.126)
He is the creative brain behind most of the art and just the theming and everything else. So especially with this day in mind. So good times.
Craig (18:51.351)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (18:57.422)
Didn't you mean egg? Don't you mean egg specially just saying oh? Look at that. This is so exciting Anyway, I know I know it obviously Dylan's a dad by the sounds of it because he loves his dad jokes, so Moving on from Friday the 13th. We've got October muns packs Rob tell us about October muns packs What's what's so special about this month's muns packs?
Rob Vardeman (19:00.742)
especially you know I can't wait
Rob Vardeman (19:11.238)
He does. He does.
Rob Vardeman (19:22.51)
So this month's MUNS packs are the last time that we're launching a brand new Celtic Zodiac. So that means that we're headed in a new direction soon, but it's not going to kick off in November. But we do have to move on to a new type of zodiac because we've done Western Zodiacs, Chinese Zodiacs, Egyptian Zodiacs, and now Celtic Zodiacs. And we kind of enjoy that theme. So any ideas of what it might be?
Craig (19:33.888)
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
Craig (19:46.69)
Wow.
Yeah.
Craig (19:52.914)
Well, is there a Native American Zodiac?
Rob Vardeman (19:57.414)
We don't have one. But is there one? A quick search.
Craig (19:59.282)
No, I thought there was a, I don't know. I did a bit of a Google search. I did because I didn't realize there was so many zodiacs. I also just thought it was the Western zodiacs, that's it. I've heard of the Chinese ones as well, but never heard of the Celtic ones either so, or the Egyptian ones. But anyway, Native American, there you go. You heard it first here. It's a possibility out of my mouth because I don't actually know. But I just did as an outsider, that's what I am.
Rob Vardeman (20:19.962)
Right, as your guess, as an outsider, there you go. I will tell you that many, many cultures around the world have zodiacs, so if someone were to guess it, that would be a pretty impressive guess. Yeah. Yeah, it's coming soon though. November, December, or sorry, not November, December, January.
Craig (20:32.191)
Ah
Craig (20:35.302)
Oh, there you go. There you go. So it may not be right, but anyway. Moving. Yeah.
of a bit in December. Wow.
Rob Vardeman (20:46.294)
right now still trying to work out what that plan is going to be, to be honest and transparent with you.
Craig (20:49.746)
Mm-hmm. I'm gonna put my ears to the ground and just try and get in a little bit closer to the Munzee side. Munzee monthly videos, Rob. I've been a fan of these, you know that. Everyone knows that. I'm a fan of these videos itself as well. But something's happening. Well, firstly, congratulations. We're gonna say congratulations to the last month's winner.
and it was K. Wilheim001, it was the winner for last month. We had, you had 47, I think 47 entries in total. And then obviously because you got so many entries as well, you give out bonuses. So you say the bonuses, who got the bonuses, Rob?
Rob Vardeman (21:23.746)
Alright, so the bonuses go to Quiet Riots, Mariahtj, Mobility Team, MTBOC, and Volitech. Apologies if I butchered your name.
Craig (21:26.74)
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Craig (21:34.038)
That's cool. Yeah, that's why I sent it over to you rather than me because I didn't want to do it. Now, there's gonna be these video changes because this particular month now, there is no video contest out there because things are happening in the back end. That's what you love to say. But it's true. It's the absolute truth. So more about what's happening in two weeks time, two weeks from today, from you listening to Friday the 13th for two weeks time.
Rob Vardeman (21:37.466)
I know.
Rob Vardeman (21:40.731)
Yep.
Rob Vardeman (21:51.162)
Yes.
Rob Vardeman (21:59.658)
Yeah, so we do have some changes that are coming up. Taking a break from this month, for those who know the history of it, it ran from Daniel Hammack years and years and years ago. We revived it back in February. Like you said, you put yours together every month. We've run it for eight months and just got some changes that are coming up. So yeah.
Craig (22:04.27)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (22:13.629)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (22:20.606)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (22:23.994)
Exactly exactly so keep an eye out for that and again of course there's another reason to subscribe to this podcast Moving on Rob. We've got double points this weekend as well Mm-hmm
Rob Vardeman (22:33.314)
Yes we do. We've got greeting cards, flats, temporary virtuals, greenies, and jewel munchies. And that's all going to kick off Friday at rolling into or through midnight. So that's 0001 Friday, which as you're listening has already passed. So right now through Sunday at 2359 and those are MHQ times.
Craig (22:57.378)
Perfect, perfect. So keep an eye out for that and make sure you get your points in because yeah, because there's some big points needed in the upper levels of the Clan Wars this month. Ha ha ha.
Rob Vardeman (23:06.754)
Yes, yes there are and like I said earlier and one more vote of confidence. We're ready. We're pushing everything forward. Tech will be there for you. Uh, so get ready and, um, get out there and get your double points.
Craig (23:10.114)
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Craig (23:16.704)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (23:20.758)
Perfect, and speaking of tech, Rob, we're gonna have now the, we're gonna end the episode with the Munzee Tip of the Week. Now this is gonna be a Tip of the Week from you and from HQ. And today's Munzee Tip of the Week is talks about troubleshooting yourself. Ha ha ha. Yes.
Rob Vardeman (23:36.078)
Hey, why not help us help you by doing a very simple troubleshooting tactic. So first what you do is force close the app. If you're having issues in general, it's always a good thing and this really and truly goes across every single app that's out there. Sometimes memory fills up, sometimes just crazy things happen and by force closing the app you can tell if it's your phone or if there's an issue with the app. The next thing that you should do. Oh, sorry.
Craig (24:03.622)
Now, if you've, I was gonna say, sorry, I was gonna say, so some people don't know how to force close. I mean, I know myself personally, I don't do it. And I know my, you know, my other, some elderly friends, for instance, they've never done it, you see. So force closing the app on an iOS device is basically you slide up halfway and then let it go. And then you see all the apps that are open. Go ahead and just remove all those open apps. I don't do it, Rob. My wife hates it. She sees me sometimes, she's like, oh, Craig, it kills her. So that's how you force close an app.
on the iOS, I don't know Android though.
Rob Vardeman (24:33.558)
Yes, I believe you tap either the bottom left or bottom right button on Android and then same thing, it's a swipe but I can't remember if it's a swipe left or a swipe up. There's a little bit different. Google search everyone. Force close an app.
Craig (24:39.255)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (24:42.975)
Swap up.
Craig (24:46.922)
Yep, yeah, exactly. Force close the app. So that's your first thing, force close the app, reopen it, Rob, it still doesn't work, what do I do? Yeah.
Rob Vardeman (24:55.686)
Oh my, you still are having an issue. Instead of going and posting all over the world, like hey, I'm having trouble, whatever the app is, it is never a bad idea to delete the app and then go to the app store and reinstall it. Because again, that completely clears the memory of the app. Does it delete all of your previous purchases or Munzees or deploys or captures? No, no it doesn't. Doesn't delete anything. You will have to log back in, and that's true with pretty much every app.
Craig (25:02.085)
Hahahaha
Craig (25:10.164)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (25:25.452)
Mm-hmm.
Rob Vardeman (25:25.638)
But this is the one way to again take one more step because Likely if you contact support for any app they're going to ask you to do these two things Have you forced close the app have you deleted the app and reinstalled shall I go on to number three?
Craig (25:39.15)
Mm-hmm. Well, before you do, this happened to me personally as well with a food store and I couldn't order from the food store because unbeknownst to me, that actually updated the app in the backend. So therefore I hadn't got the updated app, so that's why it didn't work. So yeah, I did the same thing on a food app. So just saying, this is not just Munzee, this is every app out there. So force close, delete app, reinstall. What happens if it still doesn't work, Rob? Yeah.
Rob Vardeman (26:04.978)
if it still doesn't work. And it's possible that it is your phone, then you can completely restart your phone. That will basically do all, it will force close apps, it will do all of those things. So it is the final way to kinda check and see, is this only me, or is it possible that this is a bigger worldwide issue?
Craig (26:09.665)
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Craig (26:19.713)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (26:23.284)
Mm-hmm.
Rob Vardeman (26:28.358)
You can always go on social media and check and see what's happening or status pages, those kinds of places. But this is a way that you can help us help you by maybe taking a few initial steps.
Craig (26:33.431)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (26:42.266)
Exactly. And then guess what Rob? My Munzee starts working again and I go out and cap. So there you go problem solved
Rob Vardeman (26:48.602)
and you didn't have, right, problem solved and you did it yourself and next time you know what to try first and if it doesn't work then you might have a slightly larger issue that's going on so you can, like I said, check status, you can go on Facebook, you can also send in a support ticket.
Craig (26:53.014)
Yep.
Mm-hmm.
Craig (26:59.822)
Mm-hmm.
Craig (27:07.19)
That's right. And next week, we're gonna talk about how you actually send in the support ticket. So that'll be our tip for next week, Rob. So pretty cool. Yep, yep. So that's it. That's it, Rob. This is the end of episode one of this new season of the official Munzee podcast. How cool is that?
Rob Vardeman (27:15.086)
I like it. Sounds good.
Rob Vardeman (27:26.211)
