Episode description

Marty Abrams and Bruce Katz, Jeffrey Seder | Office Hours #597 Marty Abrams and Bruce Katz Founded in 1954 by Dave Abrams, Mego Corporation underwent a transformative shift in 1971 when Marty Abrams assumed leadership, earning him the title "father of action figures." Under Marty's direction, Mego ventured into licensed action figures, introducing iconic lines such as the World's Greatest Super Heroes, celebrity dolls, and the Micronauts toy line, known for their 8-scale figures with interchangeable bodies, which later became an industry standard. Bruce Katz is the President of Mego Toys and leads the company's efforts in producing licensed action figures inspired by iconic characters from various entertainment mediums, blending nostalgia with contemporary pop culture to appeal to collectors of all ages. Jeffrey Seder Jeffrey is the founder of Equine Biomechanics & Exercise Physiology (EQB), which helps HNWI and entrepreneurs looking to get into the horse racing business, pick and manage young, unraced thoroughbred horses who may then become champions. Jeffrey disrupted the horse racing industry by developing a quantitative approach to finding the best racehorses, much of which has now been widely copied. They helped one of their clients go from start-up to being the leading USA racing stable in 4 years with a profit. This was even before the client made $50M+ from a racehorse they selected that won several world championships and became the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years.
